Live from NPR News, I'm Dale Wilman. President Trump announced today that he'll raise his new global tariff rate to 15%. That's up from the 10% rate he announced Friday. The new tariffs come after the Supreme Court struck down his previous tariffs in a 6 to 3 decision. European leaders are now reacting to this latest trade news out of Washington, as NPR's Eleanor Beardsley reports.

President Emmanuel Macron opened a big agriculture show in Paris, and he said, let's not celebrate too soon. And he said we'll just have to adapt and look, you know, look at the consequences and adapt. The German Chancellor, Friedrich Merz also spoke today. He's going to Washington in early March to meet with President Trump. Here he is talking to public broadcaster Arduino. He said he would meet President Trump with a unified, coordinated European position. And he described the Supreme Court's decision as showing that the Trump administration had been set limits on tariff policy. And he called that reassuring and that it showed, quote, the separation of powers in the United States still appears to function, and that is Good news.

Iran's foreign minister said Friday he expected to have a counter proposal ready within days in nuclear talks with the United States. Abbas Arakjit told msnow that after Iranian leaders review the counter proposal, there could be more negotiations in about a week. President Trump on Thursday gave Iran a deadline of 10 to 15 days to resolve their dispute over Iran's nuclear program. If that didn't happen, he said, Iran would face really bad things. Trump has made clear that Iran cannot enrich uranium. Iran says the enrichment is for peaceful purposes. The world's nuclear watchdog says it has no evidence that Iran is building a bomb. The last time the US Won an Olympic gold medal in men's ice hockey was 46 years ago when this took place. Those are the famous words of sportscaster Al Michaels as the US shocked the Soviet Union in 1980. Back then, the Americans were huge underdogs. That will not be the case when the U.S. plays Canada. Both teams are strong, comprised of players from the NHL. Matthew Tkachuk of the American team is glad to be in this position.
