Today's meeting was a far cry from the disastrous meeting with President Trump at the White House yesterday. Zelensky was there to sign a deal between the two countries giving access to Ukraine's rare mineral rights, but he left without signing. That leaves European countries to work out a way to support Ukraine as it fights Russia, which invaded the country leading to war. A summit of European leaders will be held tomorrow. The Acting U.S. attorney in Washington, D.C. has demoted several senior prosecutors, including those who work on cases against President Trump's political allies and against January 6th rioters. The punitive action is the latest by the Trump administration to target career attorneys at the Justice Department. And here is Ryan Lucas has more.

Sources tell NPR that the acting U.S. attorney in Washington, D.C. ed Martin has demoted at least seven top prosecutors in his office, one of the most important U.S. attorney outposts in the country. One of the demoted prosecutors worked cases against Trump allies Steve Bannon and Peter Navarro. Another oversaw all Capitol riot cases. And two others led the prosecutions of far right extremists convicted of seditious conspiracy in connection with the January 6 Capitol attack. The prosecutors have been reassigned to entry level jobs, usually filled by either brand new hires or junior staff. With wide name recognition in New York and backed by deep pocketed supporters, Cuomo becomes the frontrunner in a race that includes the incumbent Mayor Eric Adams. Cuomo grabbed national attention during the early days of the COVID pandemic, seeming to strike all the right notes during daily press briefings. But within months, his political career crashed and burned amid multiple sexual harassment allegations in the run up to the June primary. New York City is beset by sky high housing prices and crime concerns. It's part of billionaire Elon Musk's efforts to cut the federal workforce. But like the first email a week ago, this is also getting pushback from agency heads. The latest message also said to expect to provide a list every Monday night by 11:59pm President Trump says he will issue a pardon for the late Cincinnati Reds great Pete Rose. Major League Baseball's controversial hit king died last year, never having been inducted into the Baseball hall of Fame. Tana Weingartner of member station WVXU reports the idea is a home run for many fans.
