Live from NPR News, I'm Dale Willman. State media in Iran say at least 200 people have been killed and hundreds of others wounded during the strikes by US And Israeli forces this weekend in US Central Command, meanwhile, has revealed details about the bombing campaign in Iran. NPR's Quill Lawrence Pazar reports.

CENTCOM posted on social media that US Forces had targeted the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, Iranian air defenses and missile and drone launch sites along with Israeli forces. CENTCOM said it had repelled hundreds of Iranian missile and drone attacks. CENTCOM also confirmed the first use of American one way attack drones, actually modeled after an Iranian drone. Officials said precision munitions had been launched from air, land and sea. Sustained Iranian attacks on US Bases in the region have so far not killed any US Personnel. President Trump said on social media that the bombing will continue as long as necessary to achieve our objective of peace throughout the Middle East. Quill Lawrence, NPR News.

Not long after the strike began against Iran on Saturday, an emergency meeting of the United Nations Security Council was called. US Ambassador Mike Waltz told the council this the strikes were a matter of global security because Iran cannot be allowed to have a nuclear weapon. Iranian Ambassador Amir Said Irvane told the council that hundreds of citizens have been killed or injured in his country so far, and he called the strikes unprovoked and premeditated aggression.

The justification advanced by the representative of the United States today are illegal and entirely devoid of legal foundation. The baseless allegations invoked to defend this unlawful use of force have no standing under international law.

UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres, meanwhile, called for an end to the hostilities. Iran has been striking Gulf Arab bases that are hosting U.S. troops. Those attacks are in response to the deadly Israeli and US strikes. And as NPR's Aya Batrawi reports, civilian areas in the Gulf have also been targeted, including Dubai Airport, which is one of the world's busiest.

Dubai is billed as a safe haven, a playground for the rich. It has no bomb shelters or bunkers. But on Saturday, people's phones here beeped with the sound of national emergency alerts, telling them to seek shelter in, quote, secure buildings due to missile threats. In a first for this Emirate, fighter jets flew overhead. An interceptor shot down Iranian missiles targeting Dubai. Throughout the day and past midnight, debris fell near the Burj Khalifa. The world's tallest tower, the Fairmont Hotel on Dubai's iconic Palm island, was also hit, possibly by a drone or debris catching fire and wounding people. Nearby. Abu Dhab says a person there was killed by fallen debris, as upscale parts of that emirate also saw fiery debris falling.
