Israel is facing major criticism after it stopped the entry of food and other aid supplies into Gaza this weekend. Hamas is pushing Israel to negotiate a second phase to the ceasefire, which is what had been expected. But Israel has so far refused, choosing instead to take another path forward. As NPR's Hadil Al Shaltry reports, Prime.

Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's office released a statement saying that Israel wants to extend this phase, this phase one of the ceasefire temporarily over the month of Ramadan, which began yesterday. It'll also cover Passover, which takes us into mid April. Israel said that the proposal was made by US Special envoy to the Middle East, Steve Witkoff. He helped broker the first phase. And then we also know that the second phase is supposed to see a full withdrawal of Israeli troops from Gaza and a commitment to end the war. Hamas is insistent on negotiating the second phase and the second phase, but as far as we know, phase two negotiations haven't gone anywhere yet.

Investors have long been uneasy about the prospect of tariffs. Many hope that President Trump is just using them as leverage, but nobody really knows. So there'll be a lot of nerves ahead of Tuesday, when Trump's threatened tariffs on the country's neighbors are set to take effect. Trump also says he wants to impose additional tariffs on China. Investors will also have to digest the latest employment report. The jobs market has been pretty healthy so far. The question is how long it stays that way, at least, though the layoffs seen across the federal government recently are unlikely to show up in this report. Rafael Nam, NPR News.
