The airstrikes continue in cities throughout Iran. U.S. military CENTCOM said today that it has obliterated, obliterated Iran's navy and they say not a single Iranian ship is left in the waterways off Iran. And joint US And Israeli military strikes are focusing, too, on western Iran's Kurdish areas. Those are longtime anti regime strongholds.

NPR's Kerry Khan reporting. Iranian authorities had planned to launch three days of official mourning tonight for Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei. He was killed Saturday in the first wave of attacks against Iran. But Iran state media now say the morning rituals will be postponed to quote another time. Israel is now reopening its airspace for Israeli citizens to return home. The US Is helping Americans who wish to leave the Middle East. NPR's Daniel Estrin has more from Tel Aviv.

Iranian missile fire has decreased significantly. Dubai International Airport has resumed limited flight operations, and Israel will gradually open its airspace, but only for Israelis stranded abroad to fly home. Still, starting with just one plane landing in Tel Aviv every hour, the aim is to repatriate all Israelis stuck abroad within 10 days. There are no departing flights from Israel, and the US Embassy is working on plans to help US Citizens in Israel take charter buses to Egypt to take departing flights from there. The US Is urging its citizens to leave over a dozen countries in the Mideast amid the US And Israeli war with Iran. Daniel Estrin, NPR News, Tel Aviv.

In the Texas Democratic primary election for the U.S. senate, the Associated Press has called the race for state Senator James Talarico. He defeated Congresswoman Jasmine Crockett. Primary results were slowed because of confusion in Dallas County, Crockett's home county. Hundreds of voters were reportedly turned away for showing up at the wrong polling site. There's no winner yet called for the Texas Republican contest for the Senate. It's projected to go to a runoff in late May. Incumbent Republican Senator John Cornyn will face Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton for the nomination. And as Cornyn showed last night, the rivalry between him and Paxton is bitter.
John Cornyn
Over the next 12 weeks, Texas Republican primary voters will hear more about my record of delivering conservative victories in the United States Senate and learn more about Ken's indefensible personal behavior and failures in office.

Paxton has faced a criminal indictment for securities fraud, allegations of adultery, and he survived impeachment by the Texas state House. The Texas State Senate acquitted him. Paxton says Cornyn is a weak Republican and he's more closely aligned to President Trump. This is npr. In North Carolina, a Democratic congressional primary remains too close to call. From member station WUNC, Colin Campbell reports.

With 99% of the ballots counted so far, according to the Associated Press, incumbent Congresswoman Valerie Fu Chi was ahead by about 1,200 votes, less than 1% of votes cast under state law. Provisional votes will be counted in the days ahead, and challenger Nita Alam could be eligible to request a recount. The race has attracted millions of dollars in ad spending from outside groups backing each candidate. Backed by independent Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders, Alam argued that Fuxi should have taken a stronger approach to opposing immigration enforcement and Israel's war in Gaza. But the congresswoman says she's been fighting on both those fronts. The district in the Durham Chapel Hill area is virtually guaranteed to elect a Democrat in November. For NPR News, I'm Colin Campbell.

The Senate races are set in North Carolina, and former Governor Roy Cooper won the Democratic primary. He will face the former chair of the Republican National Committee member Michael Watley, who won the GOP Senate primary. Incumbent North Carolina Republican Senator Thom Tillis has declined to seek reelection. Billionaire Elon Musk is set to take the witness stand today in a civil trial in California. He's accused of making false statement to shareholders that cratered the stock price of social media platform Twitter. Musk bought Twitter in 2022 and renamed it X. The purchase price was $44 billion. Shareholders accuse Musk of speaking badly about Twitter in order to make the sale price cheaper. Musk has denied the allegations. This is npr.
