They are toast and they know it, or at least soon enough they will know it.

The US And Israel are continuing to strike Iranian targets. Hegseth says the US Was behind the overnight sinking of an Iranian naval ship off the coast of Sri Lanka. The chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, General Dan Kaine, says the US has enough weapons for offensive and defensive purposes. This comes as Iranian authorities say the attacks have killed more than a thousand people in Iran. Iranian authorities had planned to launch three days of official mourning tonight for Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei. He was killed Saturday in the first wave of attacks against Iran. Officials had told Iranians to attend the ceremonies in massive numbers. But Iran state media now says the mourning rituals will be postponed to another time. No new date has been set. There are results from some of yesterday's primary elections in Texas. The Associated Press has called the Democratic primary for the U.S. senate for Texas State Representative James Talarico. He defeated Congresswoman Jasmine Crockett. From the Texas newsroom, Blaze Ganey has more.

Talarico took the stage right after midnight to let his supporters know that while every vote must be counted, he was confident in the outcome. That was before he was declared the winner. He used that time to drive home the reason he ran for the sea.

This is a people powered movement to take on this broken, corrupt political system. This is truly a campaign of, by and for the people.

Texas Democrats haven't won a statewide race in over 30 years, but polls show Talarico could break that losing streak depending on who he faces in the primary. And after he was officially awarded the Democratic spot, he sent out a press release saying, quote, we're about to take back Texas. For NPR News, I'm Blaze Gainey.

Tellarico's Republican opponent has not yet been decided. The GOP contest will go to a runoff election in late May. It will be between incumbent Republican Senator John Cornyn and Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton. Their rivalry has been bitter. Paxton accuses Cornyn of being weak and beholden to outside interests.
