As President Trump returned to Washington from Florida on Air Force One, he told reporters he had, quote, demanded that about seven nations that are heavily reliant on the Middle east join a coalition to protect the critical Strait of Hormuz, which about 20% of the world's oil flows. Trump did not say what nations he has spoken with, but he said they should come in and protect their own territory whether we get support or not.

Palestinian health officials report the couple in their mid-30s and their five and seven year old sons were all shot in the face and head. The Palestinian Authority official news agency said the family's car came under fire as they were driving home from shopping for new clothes for an upcoming Muslim holiday. In a statement, the Israeli military says troops were in the west bank to arrest militant suspects when a car accelerated toward forces who opened fire, killing the four Palestinians and that the circumstances were under investigation. Palestinian health officials say Israeli settlers and soldiers have killed at least 13 Palestinians in the west bank since the U. S. Israeli war in Iran began. Daniel Estrin, NPR News, Tel Aviv.

Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban faces an unprecedented challenge to his 16 year rule as opposition candidate Peter Magyar has taken over Orban in national polls leading up to the April 12 election. Speaking to tens of thousands of supporters at a National day rally in Budapest, Orban equated the opposition to puppets of Brussels. It is impossible to know the day or the hour when the first soldier from Brussels will step onto Ukrainian soil, Orban told his supporters, but we know one thing for sure, it will happen and we must stay out of it. And I, he said, will preserve Hungary as an island of security and calm in a turbulent world. Rob Schmitz, NPR News, Berlin.
