In Washington, I'm Dan Ronan. Oil prices are climbing towards $110 a barrel. This comes after reported Israeli strikes on a major natural gas field in Iran. NPR's Julia Sa Simon reports.

South Pars is part of the largest natural gas fields in the world, shared by both Iran and Qatar. In a statement on X, Mejid Al Ansari, spokesperson for Qatar's Foreign Ministry, blamed Israel for the strikes. He described it as a, quote, dangerous and irresponsible step and said, quote, targeting energy infrastructure constitutes a threat to global energy security. When asked by npr, an Israeli military spokesperson would not confirm the strike. Iran's government linked news agency issued a for residents to stay away from energy assets in Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates. Qatar Energy says its liquefied natural gas facility has already been hit. Julia Simon, NPR News.

Longtime labor rights activist Doris Huertas says she was among the girls and women who were sexually abused decades ago by the then long admired civil rights icon Cesar Chavez, who led the United Farm Workers union. Hurta said she remained quiet for 60 plus years because she was concerned about revealing the information and how it could hurt the farm movement. Therapists at Kaiser Permanente in Northern California and the Central Valley are holding a 24 hour strike. NPR's Ritu Chatterley reports. The protest is in part over concerns about artificial intelligence.

The providers on strike are citing violations of state and federal mental health laws by Kaiser Permanente. The company has paid millions of dollars to California and the federal government for failing to provide adequate and timely mental health care. The striking workers are concerned that Kaiser's use of AI will take their jobs and further affect patient care. Ileana Marcucci Morris is a social worker at Kaiser Permanente in Oakland.
