Live from NPR News, I'm Lakshmi singh. New York's LaGuardia Airport may be reopening at least one Runway this hour following last night's deadly collision. Two pilots were killed when their Air Canada regional jet out of Montreal collided into a fire truck during landing. Local Authorities say about 40 passengers and crew members were taken to area hospitals, some with serious injuries. The region's port authority chief, Catherine Garcia, says the fire truck was responding to a separate incident aboard a United Airlines flight when it was struck. The vehicle was responding to another aircraft operated by United that had reported an issue with oder. President Trump says the US And Iran could be meeting soon about ending the war. Flanked by senior administration officials at an anti crime event in Memphis this afternoon, Trump spoke to the audience about the Iran war.

Based on preliminary conversations between the United States and Iran over the past two days, I've directed the Department of War to temporarily postpone planned strikes against major energy and electricity targets in Iran.

Trump says that based on the tenor and depth of the conversations, he's instructed the US Military to hold off on striking any Iranian power plants and energy infrastructure for five days as talks continue throughout the week. But Iran says there is no dialogue with Washington. Iran's state broadcaster published a statement from the Iranian Foreign Ministry saying that while there are efforts by countries in the region to reduce tensions, Trump's statement is aimed at reducing energy prices in order to gain time to implement his military plans. Iran had threatened to target power plants in Dubai and other Gulf Arab cities if its power plants are bombed. Ayo Bull Charawi, NPR News, Dubai.

The period between 2015 and 2025 was the hottest period ever recorded on Earth, according to a new report by the United Nations. NPR's Rebecca Hersher reports the planet has warmed more than two and a half degrees Fahrenheit since the late 1800s.

The World Meteorological Organ part of the UN and it releases an annual report about the world's climate each year. The report describes how the planet is rapidly warming up because humans are burning fossil fuels. The main finding in this year's report is that the last 11 years have been the hottest on record. UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres said this in a speech accompanying its release.

U.S. stocks are trading higher this hour. The Dow Jones industrial average now up 816 points, or 1.7%. The S&P has risen 97 points, up 1.5%, and the Nasdaq has gained 1.6%. This is NPR. The Trump administration says it's paying a French company a billion dollars to pull out of US Offshore wind leases and instead invest in fossil fuel projects. The Department of Interior describes it as a refund to Total Energies for projects off North Carolina and New York. The company says it had already paused the projects after President Trump was elected. Trump has sought to roll back Biden era offshore wind and other climate action projects in favor of fossil fuel investments. The U.S. supreme Court is weighing arguments over whether states can continue to count late arriving mail in ballots. Most states require ballots postmarked and received by election day. But 14 states and Washington, D.C. have graced periods allowing postmark ballots that arrive later. The rulings expected by June, months before the midterm elections. Pfizer says an experimental vaccine to protect people from Lyme disease appears to be safe and effective. Here's NPR's Rob Stein.

The drug maker Pfizer is developing a Lyme disease vaccine with the French biotech company. Pfizer says the vaccine reduced the risk of catching Lyme disease in a study involving more than 9,000 volunteers by about 74%. Lyme disease is caused by a bacteria transmitted by tick bites and can cause flu like symptoms as well as more serious complications, including arthritis and neurological problems.
