President Trump says he's frustrated with Russian President Vladimir Putin for recently reported comments about Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. On Sunday, Trump told NBC News he's threatening more tariffs against Russia if they don't cooperate with the U.S. brokered ceasefire deal. NPR's Luke Garrett reports.

Very angry and pissed off are the words Trump used to describe his feelings towards Putin, reports NBC News. Last week, Putin called for new leadership in Ukraine and for his army to, quote, finish off Ukrainian troops, according to agency France Press. Trump said these comments were not going in the right location. He went further and threatened secondary tariffs on Russian oil if they don't cooperate in a ceasefire plan. Trump told NBC News he recently spoke with Putin and that the two maintain a very good relationship. Trump said he plans to speak with Putin again in the coming days. Last week, Russia and Ukraine agreed on a partial and tentative ceasefire in the Black Sea region, though both have blamed the other for violating the agreement. Luke Garrett, NPR News, Washington.

Hegseth confirmed the Allies plan for upgrading the US Forces. Japan is underway and shrugged off concerns that the plan, which was conceived under the Biden administration, can be canceled as a part of spending cuts. The two defense chiefs also discussed enhancing joint presence in Japanese islets close to Taiwan. Hexseth earlier visited Hawaii and the Philippines, but skipped another key Asian ally, South Korea, where a leadership vacuum following a martial law declaration continues. Jigil, alamak and ludraman. These words might not sound instantly familiar, but they were added to the Oxford English Dictionary last week with origins in countries around the world. Jegil is a word to describe the feeling when something is so cute that it gives us the irresistible urge to pinch or squeeze whatever it is we find so adorable. It has origins in Tagalog, a language from the Philippines, one of 11 new words from the country. In all, the 42 new words range from around the globe, with others added from Malaysia and Singapore, South Africa and Ireland. Alamak is a Malay word that conveys surprise or outrage, while ludraman is an Irish word for a lazy or stupid person. Robbie Griffiths, NPR News, London.
