Trump delivered a roughly 20 minute primetime speech from the White House. He repeated claims that the US has destroyed Iran's military, urged patience with high costs brought on by the spike in oil prices, and said countries that receive oil through the Strait of Hormuz should take action to secure the passage. Trump signed an executive order last year to declaring that children born to people who are in the US without documentation or are here temporarily will not be considered US citizens. The order marks a shift from how the 14th Amendment and a congressional law have been interpreted for 160 years, which is that anyone born on US soil is considered a citizen. Lower courts struck down Trump's order as unconstitutional, so it hasn't gone into effect. The order is meant to apply to any future babies born, but would still have massive impacts on who is considered an American. A decision from the Supreme Court is expected in a few months.
