Live from NPR News, I'm Gael Snyder. President Trump spent more than an hour Monday talking with reporters about the rescue mission over the weekend that recovered a U.S. airman whose plane was downed in Iran. Trump also threatened Iran, saying the US Will start bombing aggressively tonight if Iran fails to agree to reopen the Strait of Hormuz. Here's NPR's Deepa Shiver Off.

It was the president's first press conference since the US And Israel launched a war with Iran more than a month ago. Trump Trump repeated threats to Iran that he's been making for days on social media over the weekend. Trump said Iran has until 8pm on Tuesday to make a deal.

Trump was flanked by CIA Director John Radcliffe, Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth and Joint Chiefs of Staff Chairman General Dan Kaine. With President Trump's deadline drawing closer, Iranian officials are urging young people to form human chains around power plants to protect them. Also, Israel's military is warning Iranians to avoid taking trains today, suggesting Israel is planning to target Iran's rail network. Over the weekend, the oil producing countries of OPEC met to discuss the oil market and key OPEC members who've been voluntarily keeping oil production down announced another boost to their output. But that's not likely to provide much relief to oil markets. As NPR's Camilla Dominoski reports.

An influential group of major state owned oil producers announced yet another boost to oil production over the weekend. Normally, increasing production pushes prices down, but this is not a normal oil market. The war in Iran is blocking significant amounts of exports from the Middle east and Ukraine's attacks are limiting how much Russia can export. So instead of hanging on OPEC decisions, oil markets are eyeing the situation. Situation in the Strait of Hormuz. Ten ships a day are getting through on average. Now the trade intelligence group Kepler reports still down sharply from more than 100 a day pre war. Camila Domonosky, NPR News.
