Live from NPR News, I'm Dale Willman. President Trump says the US Military is going to begin a blockade of all Iranian ports starting Monday at 10:00am Eastern Standard Time. Trump hopes to weaken Iran's strategic leverage over oil transiting through the str of Hormuz. Speaking with reporters Sunday night, Trump also spoke about his frustration over a lack of help in the war from NATO.
C
I'm very disappointed in NATO. They didn't do that. They weren't there for us. We pay trillions of dollars for NATO and they weren't there for us. Remember what I said? NATO was not there. Now they want to come up, but there's no real threat anymore. But NATO was not there for it.

And Trump said NATO's relationship with the US will face further scrutiny. European Union leaders have been quick to congratulate Peter Magyar on his party's decisive win Sunday over Prime Minister Viktor Orban in Hungary's parliamentary elections. Terry Scholz reports that Brussels is hoping for an end to the roadblocks the right wing populist Orban has thrown in the way of European Union decisions, particularly on helping Ukraine and the sanctioning of Russia.
D
Hungary has chosen Europe. That's how European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen responded on social media to news. Prime Minister Orban has lost power after 16 years, she added the union grows stronger with Peter Magyar's win. Von der leyen posted just 17 minutes after Orban conceded defeat, evidence of just how closely European leaders were watching this vote. Orban has blocked many EU initiatives and is currently holding up a major loan to Ukraine and the next package of sanctions against Russia. Magyar pledges to renew Hungary's relationship with the eu. European Council President Antonio Costa noted the record turnout, saying he looks forward to working closely with Peter Madyar to make Europe stronger and more prosperous. For NPR News, I'm Terry Schultz in Brussels.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu crossed the border into Lebanon Sunday to visit Israeli troops who've invaded that country. Israeli airstrikes continue to target Hezbollah militants there. NPR's Lauren Freyr reports from Beirut.
E
Israeli airstrikes hit the Mediterranean resort city of Tyre and Bor villages. Israel says it's seizing from Lebanon to create what it calls a buffer zone where Hezbollah can't fire rockets. The Lebanese Red Cross says one of its ambulance teams was directly targeted by an Israeli drone, killing one paramedic and wounding another. UN Peacekeepers say an Israeli tank rammed their vehicles and Israeli troops fired warning shots that hit three feet from personnel. Netanyahu and his defense minister, Israel Katz, both joined invading troops inside Lebanon. Katz said his goal is to disarm Hezbollah and houses so that they can't become, quote, terror outposts. Lebanon says nearly 40,000 homes have been destroyed or heavily damaged in the past 35 days. Lauren Fryer, NPR News, Beirut.

And this is NPR News. China says it will resume some ties to Taiwan, which is a self governing island Beijing claims as its own. It comes just after Chinese President Xi Jinping, met with Taiwan's opposition party leader and called for peace. NPR's Jennifer Paak reports from Shanghai.
F
China unveiled 10 incentives, including resuming direct flights and lifting tourist restrictions to Taiwan. But it's unclear if some of the measures will be implemented like Beijing says it will ease access for Taiwanese agricultural and fishery products, but only if Taiwan agrees it is part of one China and opposes Taiwanese independence. Beijing doesn't engage with Taiwan's governing Democratic Progressive Party regarding its leaders as separatists. A spokesperson for Taiwan's presidential office says if China were sincere, it would engage Taiwan's government directly. Jennifer Pak, NPR News, Shanghai.

Cuba's president says the US has no valid reason to attack that island or to throw him out of office. President Trump has used harsh language when speaking about Cuba over the past few months, including calling its leadership corrupt. Speaking with NBC News President Miguel Diaz, Canel said an invasion of his country would be costly and and if one occurs, Cubans will defend themselves. Rory McIlroy has done it. After losing a six shot lead on Saturday, he managed to pull off a one stroke victory Sunday at the Masters Tournament in Georgia. He's become only the fourth person to get back to back wins at this storied event. Despite a few tough moments during the final round, he finished with a 1 under 71. Scottie Scheffler and Russell Henley were tied for second. I'm Dale Willman, NPR News.
