US A majority of Americans did not support US Actions in Iran from the beginning of this war. But among Republicans, there was pretty overwhelming support for Trump and what the U.S. military was doing in Iran. Now 10 weeks into the war, though, the outlook has worsened a bit for Trump. Week after week, there's polling that comes out that shows that there's this cave in support among Republicans who support Trump. A recent poll from Marist shows that a majority of Republicans do still support Trump's approach in Iran, but 22% disapprove, and that's up from 15% in March.

The current federal gas tax is around 18 cents a gallon and states rely on the money for infrastructure projects. Republican states are divided on whether it's a good move or not. Georgia Governor Brian Kemp enacted a 60 day suspension, but other states say it will provide little relief for prices at the pump. Rice says ending the blockade at the Strait of Hormuz will bring oil prices down, but economists say that would take months as AI expands quickly. Florida's Governor Ron DeSantis signed a bill requiring data centers to shoulder the cost of electricity use. Katherine Welch has more.

The new law bans data centers from shifting the cost of electricity to the public and instead pay their own costs costs. It also allows local water management districts to deny permits to large scale data centers if the water needs are harmful to the local area or already prohibited by local zoning and planning. Regulations, and it keeps land regulations in the hands of local governments. The new law is part of DeSantis's push to regulate AI in Florida. The law does allow local governments and tech companies to enter into confidential agreements that keep proposals from the public for 12 months. For NPR News, I'm Katherine Welch in Orlando.

This says officials around the country are working to regulate it. You're listening to NPR News from Washington. The Pentagon says the remains of one of the US army soldiers who went missing during military exercises in Morocco a week ago has been recovered. 27 year old 1st Lt. Kendrick Lamont Key Jr. He and another soldier fell off a cliff during a recreational hike in Morocco. And the search for the other soldier continues. The two were reported missing near the Catara training area, characterized by mountains, desert and semi desert plains, on May 2 after participating in African Lion. That's the annual multinational military exercises that are held in Morocco. Search and rescue efforts are underway in the eastern part of Indonesia after a volcano erupted. Naina Rao has more from Jakarta.

A rescue mission is underway following a deadly volcanic eruption at Mount Dukono in Indonesia's Halmahera Island. A joint task force comprising Indonesia's national search and rescue Agency, the military and local police responded to the emergency after 20 hikers were caught in the eruption, while 17 individuals were rescued safely. The disaster resulted in three confirmed deaths, including one Indonesian woman and two Singaporean nationals. Military officials have directed additional troops to the volcano summit to assist in recovering the remains of the foreign hikers. For NPR News, I'm Naina RAO in Jakarta.
