Live from NPR News, I'm Jael Snyder. President Trump is pessimistic about the fate of the ceasefire between the US And Iran. His assessment comes after he received Iran's response to his proposal. NPR's Danielle Kurtzleben has more.
B
Trump is not putting a positive spin on where things are.
C
I would say the ceasefire is on massive life support, where the doctor walks in and says, sir, your loved one has approximately a 1% chance of living.
B
He did not elaborate on what might end that ceasefire or what would come next. He said he didn't even finish reading Iran's latest response to a US Ceasefire proposal, calling it a, quote, piece of garbage. Trump has expressed disappointment with the negotiation process before and threatened military action, but has so far not followed through on those threats. Danielle Kurtzleben, NPR News, the White House.

Iranian state media say Tehran's demands include an end to the blockade, reparations and sovereignty over the Strait of Hormuz. Iran's chokehold over the strait is fueling high gas prices. The president said Monday he would suspend the federal tax on gasoline to ease the burden on Americans, but he would need congressional approval. A widely used abortion pill will remain on hold for a few more days after Supreme Court Justice Samuel Alito pushed out his deadline to make a decision. NPR's Selena Simmons Duffin reports. That means mifepristone remains available via telemedicine for now.
D
The case comes from the state of Louisiana. It argued that the Food and Drug Administration allowing telemedicine access to mifepristone undermines its abortion ban. Earlier this month, a panel of federal appeals court judges agreed with this state and ended telemedicine access. Supreme Court Justice Samuel Alito paused that decision for one week and has now extended that pause for three more days. That means patients can continue to receive mifepristone by mail at least until Thursday, at which point the Supreme Court is likely to make a longer term decision. Telemedicine now accounts for one quarter of all abortions abortions nationally. Selena Simmons Duffin, NPR News, Washington.

E
During the January 6th attack, Ryan Nichols assaulted police with pepper spray, called for revolution and recorded this video.
F
So if you want to know where Ryan Nichols stands, Ryan Nichols stands for violence.
E
Nichols was sentenced to more than five years in prison for his actions on January 6, but received a full pardon from President Trump. Now the Harrison county sheriff's office in Texas alleges that Nichols repeatedly confronted someone in a church parking lot and put his hand on his gun in a threatening manner leading to his arrest. Nichols is one of dozens of pardon January six defendants who have since been charged or convicted of new crimes.

This is NPR. The U.S. supreme Court has cleared the way for Alabama to pursue using a voting map that eliminates one of the state's two largely black congressional districts. Alabama had been under a court order to use two black districts, but asked the court to reconsider in light of the ruling that further limited the landmark Voting Rights Act. Alabama wants to instead use a map passed in 2023 by the Republican led legislature that has one majority black district. The family of one of the victims killed in last year shooting at Florida State University suing The chatbot company OpenAI. From member station WFSU, Tristan Wood reports.

Bakari Sellers is an attorney representing the family. He officially announced the lawsuit today. It comes after Sellers says logs show the accused gunman used ChatGPT for advice on how to carry out his attack.
H
He asked about what time should he go to campus, what time are most people going to be there? I mean, he literally utilized OpenAI and ChatGPT as his co conspirator. He utilized it as a resource to carry out mass murder.

Florida Attorney General James Uthmeyer is also currently conducting a criminal investigation into OpenAI for their involvement in the shooting. An OpenAI spokesperson says the company is not responsible for the shooting. They say they did not encourage harmful activity, but provided factual responses to questions with information that could be found broadly across public sources on the Internet.
