The British Defense Ministry says the HMS Dragon is pre positioning to protect international shipping once conditions allow transit through the Strait of Hormuz. The ship is equipped with what's called a sea viper system to support mine clearance efforts. The ministry says the straight remains effectively closed, disrupting shipping, including for about a fifth of the world's oil supply, which is still driving up global energy prices. UK Defense Secretary John Healey says this warship deployment proves countries are not just talking, but are ready to act. With France, he's hosting a meeting of his counterparts from more than 40 countries to discuss military contributions to what he calls a defensive mission. Lauren Frayer, NPR News, London.
