Lawyers for Trump have filed a notice to dismiss the unprecedented lawsuit against the government he leads. They say U.S. district Judge Kathleen Williams should have no role in probing the resolution of the case. But 93 Democrats in Congress trying to intervene to call attention to what they call a brazen example of corruption. The Justice Department has not yet provided details of the settlement. Watchdogs worry it will give the president access to an alleged slush fund to reward allies with few guardrails. It's not clear whether the judge in Florida will try to demand more answers from the administration. She had scheduled a hearing for next week. Carrie Johnson, NPR News, Washington.

A federal jury will begin deliberating in Oakland, California today in in a civil trial brought by billionaire Elon Musk. He alleges artificial intelligence company OpenAI and its CEO Sam Altman stole a charity.
C
Musk alleges the company was set up as a nonprofit to benefit humanity.

And then Altman and OpenAI have strayed from that. NPR's John Ruich has more.
D
Musk argues that OpenAI and Altman strayed from the original mission and have profited from it. He wants the for profit arm of the company to be unwound and billions of dollars in damages to be put into Open AI's charitable foundation. He also wants Altman and company President Greg Brockman removed from their roles at the company. Open the eyes. Lawyers say Musk has a case of sour grapes. He was at OpenAI when it got started, but left after a disagreement about how to run it. He's since gone on to found his own for profit AI company called XAI. Now the 9 person jury will decide if Musk filed his suit within the statute of limitations and whether or not Altman and Brockman breached a charitable trust. John Ruich, NPR News.
