KACH code NPR live from NPR News, I'm Giles Snyder. Kentucky Republican Congressman Thomas Massie says he may have lost Tuesday's primary election, but he's encouraged by the support he received from younger voters.
Thomas Massie
If you're not tired of politics, if you're not jaded, if you're not cynical and so many people are, you know, the people that you know want somebody that'll go along to get along. I've never heard of that strategy, but that seems to be what the voters want. That's what's been promised to them, but not the young voters. I mean, we stirred up something. There is a yearning in this country for somebody who will vote for principles over party.

Massey lost his bid for re election to Ed Gallerin, President Trump's hand picked challenger. There will be a generational shift in Kentucky when US Senator Mitch McConnell retires at the end of his term after serving in that office since 1984. The matchup to elect his successor is set following Tuesday's primary. Karen Zar of Member Stat Wuky in Lexington, Kentucky, reports.

And a note, we are dedicating every resource the FBI has to conduct a thorough analysis of that manifesto to try to learn what led to this. But I think also more importantly, how can we stop future attacks?

Remle says the two suspects met online, then realized they were in the same city and connected in person. What they don't know is how or when they became radicalized. For NPR News, I'm Alexander Nguyen in San Diego.

This is NPR. The U.S. government has agreed to permanently drop tax claims against President Trump. The Justice Department has posted a one page document to its website that says the government is forever barred and precluded from examining or prosecuting Trump, his sons, the Trump Organization's current tax issues. The document part of the deal to resolve Trump's $10 billion lawsuit against the IRS over the leak of his tax returns. A new book about truth in The Age of AI contains fake quotes that generated by artificial intelligence. NPR's Jeff Bromfield has more on what happened.
Jeff Bromfield
The book is called the Future of Truth. According to its website, it explores how artificial intelligence is poised to replace human complexity with, quote, catastrophic robotic certainty. Robotic certainty appears to have been catastrophic for the book's author, Stephen Rosenbaum. He used AI to help write the book, only to have it make up false quotes by prominent journalists and academics. That's according to the New York Times, which broke the story. In a statement to npr, Rosenbaum said the misattributions were unintentional. If this serves as a warning about the risks of AI assisted research and verification, he said in his statement, that is why I wrote the book. He says the quotes will be fixed in future editions.
