Things weren't totally peaceful in downtown la. There was one confrontation in the late afternoon between police and protesters at City Hall. Flashbangs were used as law enforcement tried to break up the crowd. But police say it was a comparatively peaceful day. Many officials here remain highly critical of the way Homeland Security agents are going after and detaining migrants without legal status.
