Israeli airstrikes killed the Iranian army's chief of staff and the chief of Iran's powerful revolutionary guardian. The Israeli attack on Iran has heightened worries of an all out regional war. The attack came after the UN Nuclear watchdog censured Iran for not complying with its inspections and Iran defiantly saying it would activate a third nuclear enrichment facility. More is on the way. The regime doesn't know what hit them. They don't know what will hit them.

Israel's defense minister today said, quote, tehran will burn if it keeps firing missiles. The death toll from Thursday's Air India crash has topped 270 people as crews working at the crash site in Ahmedabad recovered more bodies. India's aviation ministry says it has also recovered the flight data recorder and the plane started coming down at just 650ft. Tanks and soldiers, parachute jumps and flyovers, all in store for today's military parade in Washington marking the Army's 250th anniversary. And in line with the type of large scale event President Trump has long sought, a nationwide mobilization dubbed no Kings is bringing out protesters today. A tumultuous day at an ICE detention center in New Jersey saw protesters clashing with security personnel. And Bruce Konviser reports authorities are searching for four escaped detainees.

The clashes at Delaney Hole in Newark came as buses were seen taking detainees out of the privately run detention center throughout the day. At the same time, law enforcement agencies are offering a $10,000 reward for any information that leads to the arrest of four detainees who escaped the facility Thursday night. Two of the escaped detainees are Honduran. They're facing multiple charges, including aggravated assault. The other two escapees are Colombian and they, too, are facing multiple charges, including burglary. Tensions at the facility burst into the open on Thursday amid allegations that food was sparse and irregular. It has also been alleged that the poor food service may have been a deliberate effort to compel immigrants to self deport. For NPR News, I'm Bruce Konfiser in Greenbrook, New Jersey.

It's NPR News. The latest expansion of tariffs is coming for refrigerators, washing machines and other home appliances. The Trump administration is broadening the way it's supplying steel and aluminum tariffs to level the playing field for domestic manufacturers. NPR's Alina Selyuk reports.
Unnamed Analyst
Right now, a 50% tariff applies to raw steel and aluminum imported into the US and domestic manufacturers have long complained that this puts them at a disadvantage to foreign rivals because they have to pay this extra cost to import steel to make, say, a washing machine in the U.S. meanwhile, a foreign manufacturer can buy cheaper steel abroad, make the washer abroad and import the finished machine. Facing a much lower tariff now, starting June 23, that 50% tariff will start applying to steel and aluminum content inside some imported appliances. In addition, those appliances include washing machines, dryers, dishwashers, refrigerators with freezers, stoves and garbage disposals. Alina Sieluk, NPR News.

And in hockey, the Edmonton Oilers play the Florida Panthers ton for Game 5 of the Stanley Cup Final. Their series also tied 2 2. It's a hometown celebration for Pope Leo. The Chicago native will be honored today at an event at Rate Field, home to the Chicago White Sox. The city's archdiocese says the pontiff will appear not in person, but via video message aimed at the young people of the world. I'm Amy Held in Washington, and this is NPR News.
