From NPR News in Washington, I'm Amy Held. Iran fired hundreds of missiles at Israel overnight, setting off sirens and sending people to bomb shelters in Tel Aviv and Jerusalem. It was in response to Israeli attacks on nuclear facilities that killed Tom Iranian security officials. Most Iranian missiles were intercepted, but some hit neighborhoods. NPR's Hadil El Shalchi visited one near Tel Aviv.
Shoshana Mizrahi
The Mizrahi family was in their home's bomb shelter when the missile hit close by in their suburb of Rishon Litzy. On Outside Tel Aviv, 43 year old Shoshana Mizrahi said the explosion was terrifying.
All the house was like shaking. There was smoke. The window in the shelter was broke.
Their home is now destroyed. Glass blown out from windows was strewn all over the floor and a hole gaped in the roof outside her home. Dozens of people stood to observe the damage. Windshields of cars were shattered. Bulldozers were removing rubble. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has vowed that more attacks on Iran were on the way. Hadil Al Shalji, NPR News, Tel Aviv.

The Federal Aviation Administration is limiting flights in and out of Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport before and after the parade, and the FAA is suspending all commercial flights during the peak of the celebration from 6 to 9:30pm local time. The parade marks the 250th anniversary of the U.S. army. It's also President Trump's birthday. The celebration includes a flyover by military aircraft along the parade route and fireworks afterwards. Dozens of streets near the National Mall will be closed before and after the parade, with some not reopening until Monday. Morning. Local officials fear the procession of tanks and heavy artillery will damage city streets. Joel Rose, NPR News, Washington.

A man wrongly deported from Maryland to El Salvador is back in the US and now fighting criminal charges. Mariana Rebecca Yao from member station WPLN reports. Kilmar Abrego Garcia pleaded not guilty to human smuggling charges in Nashville.
Mariana Bacallau
Abrego Garcia arrived in the US Last week after spending three months in an El Salvadoran prison. In that time, his case has galvanized critics of the Trump administration's immigration policy. And Homeland Security has begun investigating a 2022 traffic stop in which Tennessee state troopers found that Abrego Garcia was driving nine other men to Maryland. Prosecutors say he was paid thousands of dollars to move people without legal status through the country. A federal judge did not rule from the bench on whether Abrego Garcia has a right to bail, but if he is released, he'll be transferred to ICE custody, where officials say he will be held until his trial or deportation. For NPR News, I'm Mariana Bacallau in Nashville.
