Live from NPR News. In Washington, I'm Dan Ronan. The US Military early Sunday, Iranian Times struck three nuclear facilities in Iran directly joining Israel's war with Iran. The White House said the American bombers dropped the bunker buster bombs at the Fordo plant and two other Iranian nuclear sites. In a White House address to the nation, the president said now it is up to Iran to choose peace or more war. NPR correspondent Tom Bowman says it's not clear if the White House notified other government officials about what was to take place.
Tom Bowman
We're not sure who was notified among in Capitol Hill and also in the Pentagon. I was talking to a Democratic aide who said they got a heads up just before the President tweeted at 7:53 and also one of the services, their operations center also was notified around that same time. So a big question is, you know, was the military notified outside of, you know, the chairman of the Joint Chiefs.

Israel had pressed the United States to join the conflict, saying the US was the only nation with a 30,000 pound weapon which it said had the best chance of destroying Iran's heavily fortified sites which were buried deep underground. In Los Angeles, the Dodgers have been under pressure to issue a statement about ongoing ICE raids. Steve Futterman reports.
Stan Kasten
In a written statement, the Dodgers did not specifically condemn the ICE raids. The team announced it is committing $1 million to help families of immigrants impacted by what it referred to only as the recent events. Dodger President Stan Kasten said what's happening in Los Angeles has reverberated among thousands and thousands of people. By committing resources, he said, the Dodgers will support and uplift the LA area. Until now, the Dodgers have been silent, evoking anger from many members of their huge Latino fan base. There have even been protests outside of Dodger Stadium.
Dodger Fans
Boycott the Dodgers now. Come on, Dodger fans.
Stan Kasten
In addition to the million dollar contribution, the Dodgers say they will have additional announcements of involvement in the coming days.

In the former Soviet Republic of Belarus, a leading opposition figure is among those released.
Charles Manes
Charles Manes reports Serhii Tikhanovsky disappeared into Belarus prison system back in 2020 as he launched an election campaign to challenge strongman Alexander Lukashenko for the Belarusian presidency. His wife, Svetlana Tikhanovskaya, ran in his stead and her supporters argue, won the vote before a crackdown by Lukashenko sent her into political exile. And thousands of pro democracy demonstrators to jail. Tikhanovskay thanked president for orchestrating her husband's release, which came after Lukashenko met with White House envoy Keith Kellogg in the Belarusian capital Minsk. Thirteen others were also released as part of the US Brokered deal. But that's just a fraction of the political prisoners who remain behind bars in Belarus.

And you're listening to NPR News. Human caused climate change is set to have a devastating impact on the global crops, according to a new study in nature. As NPR's Julia Simon reports, the effects will be widespread in the United Scientists.
Julia Simon
Analyzed the effect of global heating on six key wheat, soybeans, rice, maize, cassava and sorghum. They looked at 54 countries, including the U.S. and they found those crop yields will decline 11.2% by the end of the century compared to a world without warming. If humans keep burning large amounts of fossil fuels, wheat production could fall 40% in the US by the end of the century, according to the study. Soybean production could fall by 50%. Scientists say we do already have scalable solutions to slow global warming. A key solution is to reduce the use of planet heating fossil fuels by switching to wind and solar energy combined with large battery storage systems Julia Simon, NPR News.

Recapping our top story, Iran's foreign minister said the US Attacks early Sunday morning. Iranian time will have, in his words, everlasting consequences, and Tehran reserves all options now to retaliate. The remarks from the foreign minister's office are the first official official statements after the US Military launched airstrikes aimed at Iran's nuclear facilities. At the White House Saturday night, President Trump delivered a brief nationwide address urging Iran to accept what he said would be a peaceful settlement or risk more airstrikes. Israel is thanking the United States. This is NPR support for npr.
