Police say they now believe there was just one shooter. The Senate began debating President Trump's tax cut and spending bill Sunday night. Trump wants a final bill on his desk by the 4th of July, but it's not clear if that will happen. North Carolina Republican Senator Thom Tillis says he will not run for re election next year race. Rather than get pressured by Trump to vote for a bill Tillis says is flawed, including its tax cuts that will affect Medicare.
Thom Tillis
It has no insights into how these provider tax cuts are going to be absorbed without harming people on Medicare. And even worse, most of my colleagues do not even understand on either side of the aisle the interplay of state directed payments and the devastating consequences of the funding flows that are going to be before us.

If the bill passes the Senate, it will still need to go back to the House for approval of those Senate changes. President Trump said Sunday that he is not planning to extend a 90 day pause on tariffs for most nations. That pause is scheduled to end on July 9, and he said letters would go out before the deadline to alert countries that will be affected. He says the penalties will take effect for each country unless a trade deal is reached. France has enacted a restrictive outdoor smoking ban that prohibits lighting up in public places where children could be present. As NPR's ZELANDER BEARDSLEY reports, that includes public parks, swimming pools, beaches and bus stops.
Catherine Vautrin
French Health and Family Minister Catherine Vautrin said tobacco must disappear from places where there are children. A recent poll shows 62% of the French agree, including 29 year old Maia Martin, who is enjoying a cigarette in a Paris park a day ahead of the ban.
Maia Martin
I think it's a good thing because there's a lot of children around us and it's not good for them to smoke around them.
Catherine Vautrin
Violators risk fines upwards of $150. Smokers will still be able to partake at outdoor cafes and restaurants. E cigarettes are not included. Eleanor Beardsley, NPR News, Paris.
