Live from NPR News in Washington, I'm Jeanine Herbst. Some of Iran's top officials attended the funeral of the country's former supreme leader. He and four members of his family were killed in a U S. Israeli Airstrike last February. NPR's Hadil Al Shulhi has more.

Iranian state media showed three of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei's sons and the head of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, General Ahmed Vahidi, who is rarely seen in public. They were all performing the ritual Islamic funeral prayers for Khamenei, Iran's president, Speaker of Parliament and the head of Iran's elite military Quds Force were also there. Some were sobbing profusely, their shoulders shaking. But one notable absence was that of Ayatollah Mushtaba Khamenei, Iran's new leader and Ali Khamenei's for son. Mushtaba Khamenei took over power from his father in March and is yet to be seen in public as many top leaders stay in hiding to protect their whereabouts for fear of assassination. Progress says average monthly insurance premiums have risen by 58% since the law passed. This means that Americans are paying more to maintain the same coverage. The DC Based think tank says signups for the Affordable Care act fell by 5% in 2026. That's 1.2 million fewer people with access. More than 40 states saw a decline in signups led by North Carolina, Ohio and West Virginia. The White House has said changes to health programs were needed to cut fraud and rein in spending. The Equal Employment Opportunity Commission has formally rescinded a decades old guidance that allowed employers to take affirmative action to fight discrimination. It appears Andrea Hsu has more.

Back in 1979, the EEOC told employers they could lawfully take temporary steps to address race or sex based imbalances in their workforce. It was a green light to create things like mentoring programs for women and hiring targets for minority candidates. But now under President Trump, the agency has reversed course. Agency chair Andrea Lucas has argued that federal civil rights laws apply equally to all workers and that programs aimed at helping black or female workers are not okay because they exclude white people and men. The lone Democrat on the commission, Culpanacotigal, called the move to rescind the guidance yet another attack on civil rights protections. Andrea Hsu, NPR News.

Meanwhile, two more teams will reach the quarterfinals in the World cup today. The first game kicks off at this hour after a pair of blockbuster rounds of 16 games. NPR's Russell Lewis has more.

Brazil takes on Norway in the first match. Brazil, a five time World cup winner, has played unevenly in this tournament, needing a stoppage time goal to defeat Japan in the first knockout match. Norway's star striker Erling Haaland has had a memorable cup so far, scoring five goals and will surely be in the mix for more against Brazil. The second game could be one of the all time greats, Mexico vs England in Mexico City, two of the most rabid fan bases at the famed and high altitude Azteca Stadium, where the Mexican men's team has lost only twice in 89 matches. At the weekend box office, minions and monsters took the top spot with an estimated $36 million in ticket sales. Toy Story 5 came in second place with $31 million. In third place, Young Washington debuted with $21 million and Supergirl came in fourth with just under $10 million, a steep drop from its opening weekend.
