He and a Bosnian defender got their legs tangled up as they both went for the ball and Balogun stepped on the defender's ankle with his cle. The referee initially didn't even grant a foul, but slow motion video replay and still shots of the contact led a video referee to recommend that Baligan receive a red card. Baligan has since said the contact was unintentional. The US won the game anyway, 2, 0. But a red card comes with a one game suspension, meaning Baligan was set to miss Monday's crucial match against Belgium. But a FIFA disciplinary committee announced Sunday that the one game suspension would itself be suspended for a probationary period of one year, meaning Baligan will be available for Monday's game. The primary event will likely be the release of minutes from the latest Federal Reserve meeting, the first to take place under new chair Kevin Warsh. Back in June, the Fed kept interest rates on hold open the prospect of raising them should inflation remain elevated. Investors will now scrutinize the minutes to get more insight about what policymakers are thinking, especially with a new inflation report due out later this month. Rafael Naem, NPR News.

The second day of funeral services in Iran are underway for Iran's late supreme Leader, Ali Khamenei Hamana and four family members who were killed on February 28 at the start of the war against Iran. The this is NPR News from Washington. The Federal Aviation Administration is investigating an incident Saturday night after the pilot of a Delta Air Lines jet reported they had been struck by a fireworks mortar as they approached Chicago's Midway International Airport. No one was injured. The plane landed safely. There had been reports of fireworks in the densely populated neighborhood on Chicago's southwest side. High winds and heavy rains are battering the US islands in the western Pacific, a category 5 super typhoon is approaching. KPRG's Dana Williams reports from Guam.

Throughout the Mariana island chain, residents have been instructed to stay in secure shelter for the next 24 hours as life threatening weather conditions prevailed with howling winds, flying debris and raging seas. National Weather Service Guam meteorologist Landon Eidlit has been working with emergency officials to keep residents safe.
