Live from NPR News, I'm Lakshmi Singh. President Trump is expected to attend the dignified transfer of two service members killed in the war with Iran. NPR's Hadil Al Shalchi has more.

The U.S. military said another U.S. service member was killed in action in northern Iraq on Saturday. The member was killed during a controlled detonation of unexploded ordnance from a downed Iranian drone. Another member was wounded in that incident. It also said that it found unidentified remains at the same location in Jordan where two service members were killed in action and another went missing. It was unclear whether this person was a US Service member or not. This brings the total number of US service members killed in this war to 17. More than 400 have been injured. Iranian officials said over 3,000 people have been killed in this war, with at least 50 in these latest rounds of strikes. Hadil Al Shalji, NPR News, Istanbul.

A federal judge is temporarily blocking Paramount's attempt to acquire Warner Bros. Discovery. Today the court imposed a 14 day pause as a coalition of state attorneys generals sue to derail the deal they have called anti competitive. Paramount says delaying the transaction will harm entertainment workers. For each calendar day the merger is delayed after September 30th. Paramount CEO David Ellison would be on the hook for a 25 cent per share ticking fee that amounts to about $7 million a day. The United Kingdom has a new prime minister. Andy Burnham took office today, replacing Keir Starmer, who was ousted by his own centre left Labour Party. NPR's Lauren Frere has this from London.

In his first speech as prime minister, Andy Burnham acknowledged that he is the seventh occupant of 10 Downing street in a decade and said he wants to restore confidence in this country. Britain needs to show the world that we can regain our stability once again. He pledged to, quote, re industrialize Britain, build more public housing, end what he called rough sleeping, homelessness, and announced plans Tuesday to address rising costs of living. His predecessor, Starmer, said he's giving Burnham his full support as he reverts to what they call a backbencher in Parliament. Lauren Fryer, NPR News, London.

Wells death has drawn national attention and demands for a fair investigation. The case has renewed long standing questions about race and policing in the Deep South. The black teenager went on a boating trip to an island with a group of high school friends that are white but didn't return with them. His body was found two days later off the coast. The family has arranged an independent autopsy.

It's NPR. Michigan is reporting 6,148 cases linked to the cyclospora outbreak in that and other states. In the latest update, health officials say more than 100 people were hospitalized for the diarrhea causing parasitic infection. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention linked the outbreak to shredded iceberg lettuce Mexico served at Taco Bell restaurants in Michigan, Indiana, Kentucky, Ohio and West Virginia. Students in India are demanding the resignation of the country's education minister. NPR's Omkar Khandekar reports. The government has offered to negotiate with the protesters.

Protesters sang songs and chanted slogans calling for a revolution demanding the resignation of India's education minister, Dharmendra Pradhan. A series of university and government job entrance exam papers were leaked in recent years, sparking outrage as the Indian police charged at protesters with batons and tear gas. Some retaliated by throwing stones. The escalation comes after weeks of peaceful protests by Cockroach Janta Party, a satire turned political group that has moved millions of Gen Z followers on social media. The ruling BJP party has refused to discuss their demands in the Parliament. Omka Khandekat, NPR news, New Delhi.
