Live from NPR News, I'm Lakshmi Singh. The Department of Defense says another service member has been killed in the war with Iran, and it has identified to other casualties of an Iranian attack in Jordan Friday. Here's NPR's Jane Arraff.

Central Command says a service member was killed in a controlled detonation of an Iranian drone in the Kurdistan region of Iraq. And the Pentagon announced the names of two military personnel killed in an Iranian missile strike Friday on an air base in Jordan. It said they were First Lieutenant Tyler James Feehan, 25, of Ewa Beach, Hawaii. Prince Private Isabella Gonzales of Carrollton, Texas, died a day later. She was 19. Both were with Air Defense Artillery regiments. The U.S. military says 17 service people have now been killed in the war with Iran. Annabella Bonata, managing director for climate science at the University of Waterloo in Ontario, explains the broader climate impact.

There are several things that lead to more wildfire, but what climate change is doing is drying out vegetation quicker. It's extending the wildfire season, and it's producing more of those hot, dry, windy days and some wildfires. For example, in 2023, we had major ones in Quebec. Scientists found that those wildfires were two to four times more likely due to climate change.

President Trump says the new Air Force One will be temporarily taken out of commission after security concerns were raised about its defense systems. Here's NPR's Danielle Kurtzleben.

The administration has subpoenaed multiple New York Times journalists over their reporting that the Secret Service urged Trump to take an older Air Force One home from a recent trip to Turkey. In a statement, Netanyahu called the International Criminal Court, or icc, a kangaroo court and questioned its authority after its chief prosecutor was suspended after being accused of sexual misconduct by a former employee. Netanyahu also wrote that Mamdani is trying to, quote, divert attention. The ICC had charged Netanyahu, as former defense minister, with war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza, but neither the US Nor Israel are members of the icc. Netanyahu had been planning to travel to the US this week, but he postponed after the late Senator Lindsey Graham's funeral was delayed to the end of July. Mamdani has said he is still researching whether he'd have the legal power to detain Netanyahu when he comes to New York for the United Nations General assembly and in September.
