Pressed for details, Trump said that a deal to end the war in Ukraine would involve some exchange of territory.
It's very complicated, but we're going to get some back. We're going to get some some switched. There'll be some swapping of territories to the betterment of both and but we'll be talking about that either later or tomorrow or whatever.
Trump came into office promising to quickly end the war, boasting that his relationship Putin would help reach a peace deal. But Trump has grown increasingly critical of Putin as strikes against Ukraine have escalated. Danielle Kurtzleben, NPR News, the White House.

For his part, Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelensky says his country has no intention of recognizing Russian control over any part of its territory.

The Texas Rangers have released a formal list of people lost in the July 4th flooding in Kerr County, Texas. Public Radio's Jerry Clayton has more.

The list contains the names and ages of 117 people who died and 2 who remain missing. In a joint statement, Kerrville Mayor Joe Herring and Kerr County Judge Rob Kelly said the names were not new to their community, calling them family, friends and neighbors. They also thanked the first responders and those who are still supporting recovery efforts. The catastrophic flooding event happened in the country region in the early morning hours of July 4, taking the lives of at least 135 people. Among the dead were 27 young campers and counselors at Camp Mystic, a popular summer camp along the Guadalupe River. I'm Jerry Clayton in San Antonio.

The heaviest rain is forecast tonight and red flag warnings are in effect in parts of Utah, Colorado and Wyoming where hot and dry winds could lead to fire risk. Firefighters are responding to more than three dozen large wildfires across the U.S. in California, they've gained ground on the 100,000 acre Gifford Fire at the Grand Canyon, firefighters have contained about a third of the Dragon Bravo fire despite strong winds. It's been burning since the 4th of July. It's NPR News. The Georgia Bureau of Investigation has identified the man who opened fire at the CDC Yesterday as a 30 year old who lived about 30 miles north of Atlanta. He and a police officer died during the shooting. The CDC says at least four of its buildings were struck and students at nearby Emory University were told to seek shelter. A preseason football game between the Atlanta Falcons and Detroit Lions was suspended in the fourth quarter last night. From member station WABE in Atlanta, Alex Helmick reports a player was seriously injured.

Lion safety Maurice Norris Jr. Was hurt trying to make a tackle on a Falcons running back. He took a hard hit to his head, head and neck area as he laid motionless on the ground with medical staff attending to him. Players from both sides knelt around Norris before he was taken by ambulance to a nearby Atlanta hospital. The preseason game was not resumed.
