Details@capitalone.com Live from NPR News, I'm Dale Willman. As soldiers and federal agents continue to patrol the streets of Washington, D.C. this weekend, President Trump is suggesting that he'll next send federal resources to Chicago if and NPR's Danielle Kurtzleben reports that Trump also mentioned other cities where he would consider sending resources with JD Vance at his side.
Danielle Kurtzleben
Trump called Chicago a mess and the.
JD Vance
People in Chicago, Mr. Vice President, are screaming for us to come. They're wearing red hats just like this one, but they're wearing red hats. African American ladies, beautiful ladies are saying, please, President Trump come to Chicago.
Danielle Kurtzleben
He later added that he hasn't taken concrete steps for this plan. Trump also suggested sending personnel to San Francisco and New York. Under the D.C. home Rule Act, a president can take control of the City's police for 30 days in cases of emergency, after which Congress would be needed to extend that timeframe. However, the president does not have similar powers over other cities. Danielle Kurtzleben, NPR News, the White House.

At least five people have died and dozens of other people were injured Friday after their tour bus crashed just east of Buffalo, N.Y. from member station Buffalo, Toronto Public Media Michael Lass has more on our story.
Michael Lass
The bus was bringing more than 50 people back to New York City after a visit to Niagara Falls when it lost control and rolled over on Interstate 90. Major Andre Ray, Commander of New York State Police Troop T, says that while operator impairment has been ruled out, other driver related causes are being investigated.
Jerome Powell
It's believed the operator became distracted, lost control, overcorrected and ended up on the right shoulder there. The investigation is still underway. It's too early to state whether or whether or not charges will take place.

Dozens were taken to hospitals. Initial reports that a child was among those killed have since been corrected. For NPR News, I'm Michael Loss in Buffalo.

Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell indicated Friday that an interest rate cut could happen in the next few months. But speaking at a conference in Wyoming on Friday, he said President Trump's erratic, erratic tariff policies still present a potential barrier to a drop.
Jerome Powell
It will continue to take time for tariff increases to work their way through supply chains, chains and distribution networks. Moreover, tariff rates continue to evolve, potentially prolonging the adjustment process. It's also possible, however, that the upward pressure on prices from tariffs could spur a more lasting inflation dynamic. And that is a risk to be assessed and managed.

It was the last time Powell will attend the economic meeting while in office, and he received a standing ovation after he completed his speech. Wall street responded to Powell's comments with increases across the board. The Dow Jones industrial Average closed up 846 points, the NASDAQ up 396 points, and the S&P 500 closed up 96 points. You're listening to NPR News. The police officer who died while responding to the shooting at the CDC in Atlanta two weeks ago was memorialized Friday. Shemaine Cruz of member station WABE reports.

DeKalb County Officer David Rose is being remembered as a fearless public servant who loved food, motorcycles, basketball and, most of all, his family. After serving in the United States Marine Corps, he graduated from the DeKalb Point Police Academy in March as the class leader. Sergeant Tre Jones was his lead instructor.
Sergeant Tre Jones
He carried himself with a calm presence, a quiet confidence and a clear sense of purpose that made it undeniable he was going to leave.

Rose was 33. He had two children and a third on the way with his wife, Mariana. The Trump administration has not condemned vaccine disinformation. For NPR News, I'm Shemaine Cruz in Atlanta.
