Utah county prosecutors said they intend to file aggravated murder charges against him on Tuesday when he is also set to make his first court appearance. The charges carry the possible punishment of the death penalty if convicted. And most of what we know about the case so far is outlined in an affidavit that was filed after Robinson's arrest. And it says Robinson discussed with his family that Charlie Kirk was coming to Utah Valley University and that he really disliked Kirk, telling them that Kirk was, quote, full of hate and spreading hate.

NPR's Bobby Allen reporting. Congress has until the end of the month to agree on a funding bill or else the government will shut down. NPR's Mara Liasson has more.

Members of Congress are facing a deadline of midnight on September 30, and the only way they can avoid a government shutdown is with a bipartisan vote in the Senate. Republicans do not have the votes by themselves to overcome a filibuster. A large part of the Democratic base wants their party to fight, to refuse to vote to keep the government open unless they get concessions on Medicaid and Obamacare subsidies. But other Democrats say that's a trap. They say Republicans don't care whether the government stays open or not and that Democrats would be blamed for a shutdown. Mara Liasson, NPR News.

Israel has issued a travel advisory warning that Iran and Hamas are stepping up efforts to attack Israel's and Jews around the world. The warning comes as Israel's war against Hamas has intensified. As NPR's Daniel Estrin reports from Jerusalem.
Daniel Estrin
Israel issued the travel warning ahead of the Jewish high holidays, when many Israelis travel abroad. The Israeli assessment is that Iran is seeking to retaliate for Israel's recent war on Iran, that Hamas is expanding efforts to attack Jews and Israelis abroad, and that the Gaza war is motivating individuals to carry out attacks. Israel says attacks and attempted attacks against Jews or Israelis took place every month this year in Australia, Greece, Germany, France, Turkey, Switzerland, Cyprus, the Netherlands, Sri Lanka and the U.S. israel's military today collapsed more buildings in Gaza City, accusing Hamas of using them and ordering Palestinians to leave the city. In Qatar, officials from Arab countries are gathering to coordinate a response to Israel's recent attack on Hamas leaders in Qatar. Daniel Estrin, NPR News, Jerusalem.

U.S. futures contracts are trading flat at this hour. You're listening to NPR News from Washington. Federal Reserve board member Lisa Cook is asking an appeals court to reject President Trump's latest attempt to remove her from her post. This comes ahead of the central bank's next vote on interest rates. Cook's attorneys filed a motion this weekend asking the court to reject the Trump administration's emergency request for a stay of a lower court ruling that would allow Trump to remove her. They argue that firing a Fed governor without cause risk is the risks the economy and fed independence. This year's Primetime Emmy Awards will be handed out tonight at a ceremony hosted by comedian Nate Vargetze. NPR's Mandalit del Bargo reports on the top nominees.
