Live from NPR News, I'm Lakshmi Singh. Supporters are expressing their grief over the killing of conservative activist Charlie Kirk, who was shot dead Wednesday. NPR's Joe Hernandez reports. A large scale memorial service for Kirk is being planned for this coming Sunday.
Joe Hernandez
The political organization Kirk founded, Turning Point usa, said the memorial service would be held in Glendale, Arizona. The event is set to take place at State Farm Stadium, which has the capacity to hold over 60,000 people. Kirk was shot and killed Wednesday during an outdoor event at Utah Valley University in Orem. President Trump, who was friends with Kirk, called the act of his death a, quote, dark moment for America. Authorities say the suspect in the Killing, 22 year old Tyler Robinson, is being held without bail. Robinson is expected to be formally charged as early as Tuesday. Joe Hernandez, NPR News.

Secretary of State Marco Rubio declared the U.S. s strong support for Israel on his two day visit there amidst growing international criticism in isolation after Israel's attack targeting Hamas leaders in DOA Qatar. We have more from NPR's Carrie Khan.
Carrie Khan
Rubio and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu met, then spoke with reporters. Both warned Hamas to surrender and release all hostages. Rubio wouldn't say if the US Backs Israel's latest offensive to occupy Gaza City, insisting it would be better for Hamas to lay down its arms.
Interviewee/Expert
We'll continue to pursue that route. It's the ideal outcome, but it may require ultimately a concise military operation to eliminate them.
Carrie Khan
Netanyahu refused to rule out another strike on Hamas abroad like Doha, which he says sent an important message, and that.
Interviewee/Expert
Is you can hide, you can run, but we'll get you terrorists, they think they enjoy immunity. They'll do it again and again and again. And if you deny them that immunity, they'll think twice.

A wildfire in central California is now mostly contained. The Garnett fire in Fresno county has burned more than 59,000 acres, including a grove of sequoias, and containment's at 71%. Carrie Klein with member station KVPR reports from the frontlines.
Carrie Klein
These water pumps and sprinklers have been running around the clock in McKinley Grove for more than a week and they appear to have worked. John Ragelbrugga is with the US Forest Service.
Interviewee/Expert
We've had basically 100% success near the sprinklers.
Carrie Klein
No sequoias appear to have died. That includes baby ones and the monarchs that are 2 to 3,000 years old. Dirk Charlie is a tribal liaison with the U.S. forest Service.
Interviewee/Expert
This is good. This is something good. I can report back to the tribes on.
Carrie Klein
However, only a fraction of the 300 acre Grove received sprinklers. The drier areas and steeper terrain will be assessed later.

Kerry Klein reporting. You're listening to NPR News. Well, the US Markets are waiting to see whether the Federal Reserve lowers interest rates and by as much as President Trump wants. The Fed holds its latest policymaking meeting tomorrow through Wednesday. A new exhibit at the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures in Los Angeles marks the 50th anniversary of the movie classic Jaws. NPR's Cory Turner got a sneak peek with the film's director, Steven Spielberg.
Corey Turner
The exhibit is full of props from the film and reminders for Spielberg that the ocean shoot was a nightmare of fickle tides and fierce, finicky mechanical sharks.
Interviewee/Expert
This was a very hard experience when we seriously did not know how many weeks or months we were going to be in Martha's Vineyard shooting.
Corey Turner
Now, though, visiting the exhibit, Spielberg says.
Interviewee/Expert
With a smile, this is total therapy.
Corey Turner
The exhibit's finale is the sole surviving full size shark from Jaws, which Spielberg took a moment to thank.
Interviewee/Expert
Without you, you know, I don't know what I would have certainly my next three or four movies wouldn't have been those same movies because Jaws gave me the chance to make anything I wanted to make.
