Syria's president says his country could soon agree to a security pact with Israel, but he says normalization with Israel is not on the table. NPR's Jayna Raff reports.

Syrian President Ahmed Ashara says security talks with Israel could result in an agreement within the coming days. Syria and Israel are officially at war, but the US Brokered meetings this year between the two for the first time in decades. Shara took power after opposition fighters toppled the Syrian regime last year. He says a security pact is necessary to stop ongoing Israeli airstrikes and ground incursions into Syria. The Syrian president says it's too early to discuss the fate of the Israeli occupied Golan Heights, and he says normalizing ties with Israel is not currently on the table. There are new details about the arrest of the man charged with killing conservative activist Charlie Kirk in Utah last week. Kirk was shot while speaking at an event hosted by his organization, Turning Point usa at Utah Valley University. Washington County Sheriff Nate Brooksby says he got a call letting him know that Tyler Robinson wanted to turn himself in.

The sheriff says Robinson was afraid he'd be shot by police. A vigil will be held in Colorado tonight for Kirk his supporters will gather at Colorado State University. Kirk founded Turning Point usa, a group that rallies young conservatives. He was scheduled to spe Colorado State tonight as part of his American comeback tour, where he planned to visit college campuses across the country. Kirk's widow announced the tour will continue. The Argentine duo Catriel y Pacuamoroso follow close behind with 10 nods. Their album Papota, half of which was recorded at NPR's Tiny Desk, is up for album of the year. The duo also has multiple nominations for song and record of the Year. Among the artists up for Latin Grammys for their work behind the scenes, producer and songwriter Edgar Barrera has 10 nominations for his work with artists like Carol G. Shakira and Grupo Frontera. Tech giant Meta has unveiled its newest smart glasses powered by artificial intelligence. The Meta Ray Ban display glasses have a tiny screen that can display apps and share images with social media. The glasses glasses can be controlled by a WristBand with what CEO Mark Zuckerberg describes as barely perceptible movements. The AI glasses come out in a couple of weeks.
