In Washington, I'm Giles Snyder. President Trump is calling an expanded cease fire agreement between Thailand and Cambodia the historic deal. He was on hand in Kuala Lumpur today presiding over the signing ceremony as part of his six day trip through Asia. Naina Rao has details on the agreement.

The dispute stems from territories that both nations share. President Trump said his administration helped broker the ceasefire over a matter of days. Thailand's foreign affairs Minister, Sihasak Pankit Kyo says the signing addresses essential issues affecting the border between the two, like the removal of heavy weapons and addressing scam operations.
Sihasak Pankit Kyo
What has been agreed demonstrates Cambodia's sincerity and genuine commitment to joining Thailand in the path towards peace.

President Trump's visit to Asia also includes scheduled stops in Japan and South Korea. For NPR News, I'm Naina Rao in Kuala Lumpur.

Argentina voters set to go to the polls today in high stakes midterm election seen as a referendum on President Xavier Milei's austerity agenda. His ally Donald Trump has offered a $20 billion currency swap to prop up the peso. But Trump's continued support could depend on Milei's performance in the election. As Natalie Alcoba reports from Buenos Aires.
Natalie Alcoba
A lot is at stake for President Xavier Milei, a libertarian who imposed a tough program of spending cuts and reforms to curb inflation in a country prone to economic volatility. Half the seats in the lower house of Congress and one third of the Senate are up for grabs in these elections. A currency crisis has raised serious questions about his economic strategy. With the US Intervening with a controversial multi billion dollar bailout, many Argentines continue to struggle to make ends meet. But while Milei's popularity has taken a hit amid corruption scandals and the threat of a recession, polls suggest the outcome of this election is too difficult to predict. For NPR News, I'm Natalie Alcoba in Buenos Aires.

Weather officials in Jamaica say time's running out for people there to get ready for Hurricane Melissa. It's forecasted to make landfall on the island in the coming days. Evan Thompson, director of the Meteorological Service of Jamaica, is warning of the danger of the storm moving so slowly.

It's going to sit there pouring water while it's barely moving. And that is a significant challenge that we have to be aware of.

Haiti and the Dominican Republic are also under special hurricane advisories in Cuba. The US Navy ordered some evacuations at Guantanamo Bay. Kristen Wright, NPR News.

President Trump said he plans to increase tariffs on imports from Canada by an additional 10%. Trump remains at odds with Canada over a television ad by the province, province of Ontario that's been running during Major League Baseball's World Series. It uses audio from a radio speech by former President Ronald Reagan to criticize tariffs. Ontario's premier said the ad would be pulled after the weekend, but Trump says it should have been pulled sooner. Baseball's World Series tied at a game apiece, Los Angeles Dodgers took game two last night, beating the Toronto Blue Jays five to one. I'm Giles Snyder. This is NPR News.
