This is about those that feel alone, those that feel isolated, those that feel an anxiety and a stress that they never could have imagined in their lives. This was about saying to them, we have your back. We see you. You matter. We care.

Arguments are set before the U.S. supreme Court today, testing the legality of President Trump's tariffs. As NPR's Nina Totenberg reports, the hearing will focus on whether the International Economic Powers act, or iepa, allows Trump to set tariff rates on his own.
Reporter Nina Totenberg
Tariffs are the hallmark of Trump's economic policy, and just months after becoming president, he imposed all manner of tariffs on both US allies and adversaries. Tariffs as high as 145% on imports from China to 25% on goods imported from allies like Canada and Mexico. The tariffs were promptly challenged by several small businesses and backed by literally thousands of organizations, from the conservative Chamber of Commerce to the liberal Brennan center for Justice. Three lower courts ruled the president had exceeded his authority. Now the Supreme Court will decide.

Five months ago, President Trump heaped praise on Jared Isaacman. In a social media post announcing Isaacman's renomination to lead NASA, Trump called him an accomplished business leader, philanthropist, pilot and astronaut. Trump did not mention in his decision over the summer to withdraw Isaacman's nomination. Isaacman is a billionaire e commerce mogul, a close ally of SpaceX's Elon Musk. He's twice been in orbit as a private astronaut. His removal from consideration to lead the space agency came in late May amid the public break between Musk and Trump. Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy has been serving as interim NASA chief. Isaacman's nomination requires Senate confirmation trial. Snyder, NPR News.
