In almost the third year of Russia's war with Ukraine, Moscow's hackers have shifted from destruction to tactical spying to try and get a better sense of Ukraine's military planning. In their most recent campaign, Ukrainian cybersecurity experts warn that Russian hackers are sending out fake messages about a conference about Ukraine's defense industry in compliance with NATO standards. The Ukrainian Computer Emergency Response Team said the team of hackers behind this latest campaign has consistently been focused on compromising encrypted communications. They want to spy on conversations taking place on apps like Signal and WhatsApp, as well as proprietary intelligence sharing platforms like Ukraine's Delta. Victims are compromised after clicking on malicious PDFs attached to messages. Jen McLaughlin, NPR News.

Juan Soto was the biggest free agency prize in baseball this winter. He was coming off a one year deal with the New York Yankees during which he hit a career best 41 home runs in the regular season, then added four more during the Yankees failed World Series run. His terrific season earned him the third most votes for most valuable player in the American League. Now he's headed from the Bronx to Queens to join the Mets as they go all in for their first World Series title since the 1980s. Born in the Dominican Republic, Soto began his career with the Washington Nationals, then played two seasons in San Diego. Rarely does a player of his caliber hit the open market. His contract is believed to be the largest ever in all of professional sports. Becky Sullivan, NPR News, Dallas.
