Live from NPR News in Washington, I'm Shea Stevens. President Trump says Democrats keep talking about affordability in order to embarrass him. Trump told a Pennsylvania rally last night that US Consumer prices are already coming down thanks to his tariffs.
President Donald Trump
A Thanksgiving meal with all of the trimmings is 25% less under Trump than it was a year ago under Biden. That's, that's a good start. We're bringing it down and we're coming down more. We're coming down a lot more.

Trump says polls showing Americans are still concerned about inflation are fake. The Federal Reserve is expected to lower its benchmark interest rate this afternoon, making it cheaper to borrow Money. Details from NPR's Scott Horsley.

The Fed has cut interest rates by a quarter percentage point at each of its last two meetings, and investors expect another quarter point cut today as the central bank tries to prop up a sagging job market. Not everyone on the rate setting committee agrees, however, that another reduction is warranted. Hawkish committee members are more concerned about stubbornly high inflation and may vote to hold interest rates steady. The Fed is working with less information than usual since the six week government shutdown prevented federal workers from collecting data on inflation and unemployment in October. November's numbers have also been delayed until next week, too late to guide Fed policymakers in their decision today. Scott Horsley, NPR News, Washington.

Opponents of Missouri's new congressional map say They've submitted over 300,000 petition signatures to the secretary of state's office. That's roughly three times the number needed to force a referendum on the plan. Republicans hope Missouri's new districts will help the GOP retain its majority in the U.S. house. At the urging of President Trump. Several states are following the lead of Texas in redrawing voting districts ahead of the midterm elections next year. George W. Bush announced Page's death in a statement saying Page was a leader and a friend who was not satisfied with the status quo. Page Bush's statement did not provide further details. Bush chose Page to be his education secretary in 2001 after Page received attention for his work as the superintendent of Houston Schools, where an elementary school is named for him. Page's work in Houston influenced the Bush administration's signature no Child Left behind education policy becoming law in 2002. It established universal testing standards and sought to hold schools accountable. No Child Left behind remained in effect until 2015, when it was replaced during the Obama administration.
