Live from NPR News in Washington, I'm Shea Stevens. The U.S. senate has rejected two competing health care proposals from both parties. The votes came days before enhanced subsidies for Obamacare plans expire. More from NPR's Sam Greenglass.

In Indiana, lawmakers have defied President Trump by rejecting a Republican friendly congressional map. Trump wants several states to create additional GOP seats in the US House ahead of the 2020 terms. Ben Thorpe of member station WFYI has more.
Ben Thorpe (1:32)

But Indiana senators voted no, arguing that it would be bad for the country as a whole. Republican State Senator Spencer Deary said his vote was to uphold conservative principles.
Sam Greenglass (1:50)

Ben Thorpe (1:57)
Republican Mike Young expressed his disappointment.
Raphael Warnock (2:00)
