Live from NPR News in New York City, I'm Doua Elisa Kowtao. In Germany, one person is dead and at least 15 people are injured after a vehicle drove into a crowd at the capital's annual Pride event. As Esmeen Nicholson reports, police are actively searching for the driver.

Berlin police say a white vehicle drove into a crowd at the city's annual Pride parade shortly after 10pm on Saturday evening. Police say witnesses saw the driver get out and run away after coming to a halt. Police are currently clearing the parade as they search for the suspect. There is not yet any indication whether the incident was an attack. Berlin's annual Pride, known as Christopher Street Day, is one of Europe's largest LGBTQ events. For NPR News, I'm Esme Nicholson in Berlin.

On its official social media, Berlin police said an urgent manhunt is underway for one or more possible perpetrators. Republican campaign committees have vastly more cash than their Democratic counterparts heading into the midterms. NPR's Tamara Keith takes a closer look in the latest filings with the Federal Election Commission.

All told, the Republican Party campaign committees and the MAGA Inc. Super PAC ended June with more than $1 billion CA on hand. The president's super PAC alone has more than $400 million in the bank, though it isn't clear yet how much of it will get spent in the midterms to defend Republican control of Congress. Meanwhile, the Democratic National Committee is at a negative $2 million if you take debt into account. Combined, the Democratic committees are trailing the Republican committees by more than $700 million. Democratic candidates, however, have raised significant sums directly to campaigns. The event had been interrupted in April when a man tried to force his way through a security checkpoint and fired a shotgun outside the ballroom where President Trump was to speak. Trump said last night that he had scrapped the most biting parts of the remarks he was going to give last time. However, during his hour long speech, he spent time insulting various people, singer Bruce Springsteen, former President Barack Obama and his own speechwriters. NPR's Ron Elving reports.
