Whatever OCD is telling you, it's only doing so to get a reaction out of you, to get that feeding, to get you to do compulsions, to get you into a state of rumination. Notice not to solve the thought, but just to get you into a state of continuous rumination. Don't take these thoughts seriously. Yes, it feels real. Yes, it feels scary. Yes, it feels like this is something entirely different. That's the calling cards of ocd. That's how it hooks you into the behavior. Make the choice to say no. Step over it. Even though it feels real, step over it. It feels like something bad is going to happen. Step over it. Choose to go on with the day. And will you still be in discomfort? Of course. Of course it's not going to go away the second you step over it. But little by little, the more you show to the brain that you will not take the beat, the more the anxiety will drop until it drops all, all the way to non existent. I've shown you in other shorts, people going from level 9 anxiety to level 1, level 0 in 30 days. Your recovery doesn't have to be that fast. You can go at your own speed, but your brain is capable of that level of reduction. But the work needs to be done. So thought comes in, choose to ignore. It comes in two seconds later. Again, again. Choose to ignore. Go on with the day. Hobbies, chores, activities, work, school. Do things that you need to do. Show your brain that everything is okay. I'm Ali Graymond. I'm an expert in OCD recovery because I've been working with clients for the last 20 years and I can tell you anybody can fully recover. If you need help, the link is below.
