Oh, there you go. But I thought maybe you could give some closing remarks on, you know, what all happened week with all you encountered and all that fun stuff at SEC media days.

As Sark said, they saved the best for last. Jerry, Texas went absolutely last on sec media days, 16th of 16 teams. And Sark, I, I guess the, the, the news that dropped among all of the talking points that he had, he kind of shoehorned in a little comment about John Meredith, one of the state's top prospects, if not the top prospect in class of 2027 is now reclassified into the class of 2026. Sark kind of just threw that out there and knew everybody would run like sharks to blood in the water, right? But that was probably the biggest news of all week for Texas fans from a, from that vantage point, John Meredith reclassifying to the class of 2026. Instead of being at Shaminade Madonna or IMG or one of those schools, he's going to be at the University of Texas. He graduates early, gets everything in order. Not Unlike Marcus Spears Jr. And basketball Jerry that he just did over on the the hoop side of things. But Meredith now going to be a Texas Longhorn early and that means they don't have to worry about going back and forth on a recruiting fight down the stretch of this season. The question that we will all have, including Steve Sarkeesian, is whether or not or if John Meredith can have an impact on this season. The question there is, is in an 18 year old actually be ready for that. And I'm not so sure that he's going to have an instant impact even though he's a five star.

And so that being said, it does add to the talent roster on the team. Maybe he's a gunner. Maybe it can be a lot of things. We'll just have to wait and see. I don't want to presuppose but he is not, he's not this guy that should come in and say, okay, I'm gonna beat out Bo Masco who's played Multiple year starter, zero chance. Yeah. Rutgers and in the Big Ten. All Big Ten honorable mention or even a Cade Phillips who has a year of experience on him as well.

The strength and conditioning with the experience. Right, Bobby? I mean that's a big deal.

It is. It's huge. All of it. What else did you learn, Jerry, from SEC media?

[C]

The most important thing I heard all week because we are 43 days away from the season, is that everybody's cleared that can be cleared. Kaden Shear obviously is not included in that, but he wasn't going to factor in to the team this season anyways with speedy recovery for him. But everybody is cleared for. For fall practice.

I think Sark said that in his the kind of the closed media session with a bunch of guys yesterday. To me that's the most important news. I heard that, that I wanted to hear no setbacks. No setbacks in the summer which nobody heard about. The. No word got out that somebody had a setback or anything. That means Jonah Williams is clear. That means Justice Terry's clear. Everybody that you want to have cleared is cleared for fall camp. And that means Texas has all hands on deck starting fall practice. I. That was the one thing I, I'd said leading up to this. I wanted to hear. That's what I heard. So now let's go get it. I mean that to me that's health. You're as healthy as you can possibly be. That was my number one thing on John Meredith. I look once he was ruled ineligible by the Texas U, I think Texas made a push there for this.

And I think bear this, mom, look, he chose an in state school for a reason. I'm not so sure people around them are crazy about going to South Florida for a senior year in high school either, by the way. So I think it made sense for all parties. And I just want to say on Meredith, for me, I look at this as an unbelievable opportunity to, to develop this year. And if he gets on the field in any capacity, special teams or something late in the season, great for him. But this is really setting him up for the 27 season is what this is doing. I think the worst things are going to happen for him not playing this year because he, he's. He's been injured a little bit. He hadn't played as many varsity football games as a lot of guys have at his Age, especially at the corner spot. So I think it's a great opportunity for him to develop and really get him ready to compete in 2027. Instead of coming in as a freshman In January of 27, he's going to be ready to compete for a starting job in 27.

Jerry, I got to ask you this. Paul Feinbaum had Sark on. And, you know, in our scenarios, when we get a chance to talk to Sark, it's one on many. So there's several reporters asking him questions. I asked that question about the health of the team specifically for you to start. So you're welcome. I just want to put that out there. Wanted me to ask this. So that's what I'm ask. And that's when he delivered that answer. But he then went on Fine Bomb yesterday afternoon, Jerry. And he talked about something that has been taboo among college coaches. They'll talk about. They'll talk about the salary cap or revenue share or nil. But Sark went so far as to talk about, hey, look, we had to let some guys go last year, named a couple of them DeAndre Moore, Parker Livingston, Cedric Baxter, Trey Wisner, because for whatever reason, he thought he could improve the team more around Arch. He said the quiet part out loud at one part, at one point yesterday. No other coach did that all week.

Yeah.

Okay. What did you make of that conversation? Because, look, I mean, there's levels of me that say, oh, you don't want to name a DeAndre more. You don't want to name these players. At the same time, it's legitimate. I mean, you can't pay DeAndre Morey and Parker Livingston if you want to go pay Cam Coleman.

[C]

That's right.

[D]

And so what were your thoughts on. On that conversation as a whole?

[C]

I don't have. I don't have a problem with it at all, honestly. I mean, look, these. These guys are professionals now. I mean, they're being paid very well to go to college and play college football. So I don't have a problem with it. I. I saw DeAndre Moore had a tweet back at that. I don't really care. Look, I mean, I'm. These guys are making a really good living playing college football now. I don't have a problem with it. I like the transparency of it. Really. I mean, look, that's. I mean, what. What's Sark gonna say? He gets up there and says, look, man, we had to. If we want to get Cam Coleman, we can't keep DeAndre Moore and Parker Livingston at the number they wanted. So we have to make a decision.

And they went, got, then they went and got a good number. So it's not like you cut them short.

They're still making a great living playing college football just at another school in Texas. Feels like they upgraded their team. I'm glad Sark came out and said it. I don't have a problem with it. I really don't. And you know what? If anybody, if any former player gets a little butt hurt, go check your bank account. You're doing really well, man. Go make, go score touch ins and go get drafted like you're gonna do anyways if you're DeAndre Moore. And I love DeAndre more. Everybody knows that. I, I, the guy was the first guy out to practice. Every single day. We had an open media session. He did everything that he could do at Texas. Right. You know, but then the staff, staff, it's no different now. It's all professional stuff now to me, Steve Sarkeesian, Brandon Harris, those guys have to make the decision. Cam Coleman's going in the portal. There's one way you're going to get it done. I mean, everybody can't make the money they want. And so I don't have a problem with it. And look, DeAndre Moore, Parker Livingston, they're doing great. And, and I'm the same way Sark is. You know, I hope Texas kicks Parker's ass. But then you congratulate him after the game and say, best of luck. The rest of the year, that's competition.

You know, SEC Media Day is tough on the old body because you only lose weight if you're the like, like a lifetime faster than like, the. The look, the meals were unbelievable. Every meal had, like, rolls and the desserts. Like, we went in there yesterday. I don't think Bobby went in there yesterday. Maybe he did, but I walked in there with Hank south yesterday afternoon because they put desserts up kind of as the. The late afternoon thing. They had piles of donuts, piles of cupcakes. And I'm like, who doesn't celebrate a birthday even if there's no birthday? So of course you're gonna have cupcakes. If somebody offers you free cupcakes, you got to be like, extremely disciplined to turn them down. They want the media.

They don't serve that to the players or the coaches. They serve good, healthy food to the players and coaches. They want the media to die early, so they give them all the sugar.

By the way, you know, Lenora Sellers became my favorite player at media day because he was. He had a couple of. He had a couple of hot dogs. He got in the media. He got in the media food line and had a couple of hot dogs before his media session. I was like, okay, Lenora Sellers is one of us, man. I like it. He may be a little better athlete than the three of us duds, but I, I became. I became a fan because he just rolled in there with the media line and had a couple hot dogs before his media sessions.

I mean, I hope we kick his ass. I mean, it's the Red river rivalry. You Know what I mean? He chose to go there. He's on the other side. It's the way the game goes, if you've ever been. It's a hell of a game. It's epic. You know, pulling into the Cotton bowl, the state fair, the corn dogs, the turkey legs, the, you know, split down the middle at the 50 yard line, both teams in the same tunnel. Like at the end of the day, like it's competition. You know, after the game, I'm sure I'll give him a big hug before that we're trying to beat his ass. That's, that's the way it goes.

Parker Livingston going from Texas to Oklahoma. What's it going to be like?

[C]

Yeah, great answer. Great answer. If there was any other, an, any other answer he could have given, that answer was going one of two ways. Either Oklahoma fans were going to hate him or if Sark was like, oh man, you know, hey, maybe he'll score a touchdown late if we're up. And then Texas fans would have was like, sark, what are we doing here? He gave the right answer. I mean, look, it's game, it's a competition. They're playing these, these two teams are competing for the same playoff spot. And you can give a guy a hug after a game, but before that game and during that game, you want to kick his ass. Nothing personal.

Look what Marcus says. Marcus says, I wouldn't want him to say anything else. That's kind of where I came out on.

Yeah.

He was respectful to Parker, by the way. Afterwards, said afterwards, hey, wish you the best of luck. But in the heat of competition, it's competition, you know, no matter where or who you played for the year before, when, when the ball gets kicked off in, in Dallas, in all in October. I mean, Texas needs to be ready to go no matter who's on the other end of the other side of the field and where they've been. Where they've been and etc. I also thought that Sark was very forthright in a lot of his answers, though, because I, I did. That would be the term I would use for that answer for him. He could have done the coach speak answer, Jerry, which is, oh, well, you know, we love Parker and wish him the best. And into your point, everybody would have known what was actually brewing in his head, his butt. And so I think it's that when I say that Sark typically gives you very real answers. Now he's got, he's got some, some cliches he slides into like every coach, but that is a Better answer than a lot of former Texas coaches would give. I'll just put, I'll put it that way in, in numerous sports, by the way. Yeah. So I, I, I felt like it was candid, didn't pull any punches, just came out straight, said what he meant, and that's what happened. I, I think that to that point, though, saying what he meant with DeAndre Moore, Trey Wisner, those guys, that, that could hurt some feelings. But it, to your point, again, reality is reality. I, I'd take DeAndre Moore's nil check from Colorado right now. Yeah, I know that much.

Hey, Bobby, pay me for it. But yeah, you know, there's a comment here that I wanted to hit on before. I know we got a clip of Sark talking about Arch. I think it's safe to say Sark sounded very confident in this 2016. I wanted to add to that. I don't know about you. I thought there were three coaches that sounded very confident in their 2016. Kirby Sark, inventables. Yeah, I thought those three guys. And we get to sit in on a lot of these. Look, there's levels to this. Those three guys I thought sounded very confident in their teams. That was one of my takeaways overall from SEC media days. I don't know about you, Bobby, but those three guys stood out to me when talking about their teams.

They have, they're probably the three that have the, the most reason to. I thought Pete Golding did well, too.

[C]

He did well, I thought. Entertaining.

Yeah, he was more entertaining and more.

He's just shy of glib.

Yeah.

That confident. Shy of glue. But what I would say about Golding is it's also his first time, so I don't know that he knew to kind of exude confidence in his first time as a head coach anywhere. But I, I would agree with that. I mean, don't you think Georgia, Texas and Oklahoma right now have reason to be the most confident? I mean, I do.

Yeah. Yeah. I mean, look, I think Georgia and Texas for sure going in, everybody's like, okay, they're going to be confident. Kirby said this is the best group of leaders he's had on a team at Georgia. I'm not sure I expected him to say that. That was pretty high praise for, for Gunner Stockton and his guys. Sark, you see, he hadn't shot away. Hey, we're really talented. You know, we got a really good team. I think Grant Venables is, he's growing in that job. We talked about that the day after he Came had his press conference. I think he's more comfortable, but I thought he sounded extremely confident with the caveat of saying we got to run the ball for 175 yards a game at the start of. But I think he was very confident in his roster for sure. And to your point, on Pete Golding, you know what Pete Golding said that he, he stepped out there on the ledge. He said we're more talented on defense than we were the last two years at Ole Miss. I was like, oh, I mean, he has Suntouring Perkins, he's got Will Echols, he's got some good players. That's pretty bold statement to make in your first year as a head coach, a full time head coach at Ole Miss. He didn't leave himself any wiggle room

there, especially when you have that guy at quarterback. Yep. Man, I, I'm, I'm interested to see whether or not. I'm interested to see Trinidad Chambliss separated from Blaine Kiffin and Charlie Weiss Jr. Yeah.

Yeah, I, I think that that is going to be one of the better subplots of all the sec because if he continues that path, in my opinion of being an excellent, excellent guy or excellent quarterback, he separates himself from Lane Kiffin and just being a Lane Kiffin quarterback. And I, I would not be surprised either way that goes. Yeah, I really, I don't know which way it's gonna go. I think he's talented. I think he's got moxie. I think he's got a clutch gene to him. Yeah, but which way is that gonna go? It's a fair question.

Well, going back to Sark, obviously he had a lot to say and one of the things that he touched on was. Or a lot of the things touch on had to do with Arch Manning. But he was asked about Arch and adversity. Here is his answer.

You know, Arch Manning a year ago wasn't on social media or on television saying, I'm going to be the first pick of the draft. He wasn't on television saying, I'm going to win the Heisman Trophy. All he did was work really hard. All he did was try to be the best teammate he can be. And then we had some failures as a team. He didn't have. He didn't play to the way of what he was capable of playing. And then those same people that were saying that about him wanted to criticize and demean him almost for letting them down because he didn't live up to what they thought he was going to be. Very interesting concept right there. And I think the way of what he got put through probably would have melted or destroyed 99% of people in his shoes. All he did was stay consistent to true to who he was, which continue to work hard, continue to be a great teammate, try to get better. And he did. And he came out and played the second half of the season at a really high level. We go 7 and 1, he's got 20 touchdowns, only two turnovers. He's a fantastic player at the end of the year, but he didn't go back on social media and say I told you so. And all he's done this year is continue to work hard again. And so there's always going to be outside opinions of that guy and that comes with the territory and he understands that. But I think he learned a lot about himself last year, about dealing with adversity and overcoming. And I think he learned a lot about his teammates and the support that they gave him and them recognizing the mental and physical toughness that he has to play the position to be their leader. And I think that he's grown into a great leader for us. And so I'm very proud of Arch for the way he's carried himself, the way he represents the University of Texas. I think right now he's a very dangerous player because he learned a lot from last season and he's surrounded by some good players. And I think that he's a guy that's poised for a heck of a season.

I love the comments. We talked about it. He was built up and torn down as a senior in high school. First high school prospect I've ever seen that happen to. Last year was a classic build up, tear down of a, of an athlete and a player. Archie Manning even commented on it at the Manning Academy say people crowned him before he'd done anything on the field. And I think that my biggest takeaway from that, Bobby, is what we've talked about. I think the first four or five games for Arch Manning as a starting quarterback at Texas, whether it's after this year, after, whether it's 10 or 12 years down the road, he's going to say that was the defining moment of his career because, you know, he had some really rough moments. He's sitting on a couch alone. A little hint of doubt comes into his mind after the UTEP game. Man, this is not going the way it was supposed to go. But I think what happened to him the second half of the season is why he's Got a chance to go on and have a tremendous career outside of his talent level because he had to face a level of adversity outside of injury that not a lot of players face. Not many guys get built up and torn down before they become a pro athlete. And he has twice now in high school, didn't really, it wasn't national stuff, it's just stuff we noticed. But last year was a, it was a classic build up, tear down of an athlete which has been pretty much reserved for pros. And I think he's going to look back on this and say that was a defining few weeks of his career.

You know what, Jerry? The thing when I was hearing Sark say that live yesterday, I was like, man, you know, the University of Texas is a fishbowl and local writers and media in Austin, and Austin's a huge city and in state of Texas, it carries the whole state. We can be hard on people and it can be a fishbowl. Arch's fishbowl was the whole country. Yeah, it was not. It wasn't just Austin, Texas, it was, I don't know, Chicago, Illinois, it was Knoxville, Tennessee, it was Miami, Florida. Anywhere that you had any kind of college football fan. Arch Manning had already been crowned by a local media guy or commented on by a local media guy before he played a single snap. And so I actually, while Sark was talking about that, my mind was going in a different direction. It was like, you know, he's right, first of all, Sark's right. But the thing with Arch that is different than most players say Sam Ellinger, for example. Compare the two. Sam Ellinger, Texas Fishbowl. Right. Arch Manning is playing in America's fishbowl. And so because of his name, because of his pedigree, because of expectations perhaps that are, that he didn't place on himself, to Sark's point. And so I, I thought about that and then, you know, obviously you go to the second part of what Sark said and you know, that's why I'm so high on part of the main reason why I'm so high on this team this year. Arch Manning over the last seven games played like one of the top handful of quarterbacks in college football. You know, we can talk about whether or not he led the comeback against Mississippi State and gutted that out, how he played against Vayner, I mean, the number of teams, the, the bowl game against Michigan, the second half against A M played wonderfully, we can debate all that, but it was the idea that he was down and he got up off the floor.

That is, if you are an athlete anywhere or a coach, there is nothing more rewarding than seeing somebody who gets knocked down twice in the first three rounds and come back, comes back and wins in 12. If you're about just to use a boxing analogy, it shows a level of internal fortitude to get knocked down like that. I mean, you know, the dude got a right hook to the jaw, essentially, and he went down hard. And he got another one. Went down hard, but got back up and fought the whole way through. End up winning the fight last year. Yeah, it wasn't. He didn't get crowned the heavyweight champ, but he won that fight last year. And I think that is why I'm so high on Arch manning heading into 2026. And a main reason why I'm high on the University of Texas as a team, because that is their offensive leader. We need to talk about the defensive leader as well at some point today, because Colin Simmons.

But. But just to segue quickly to Colin Simmons, I want to tell this story and. And say something, Colin. Yesterday, in the local media breakout, Jerry, that I was part of, I asked him the same question two years in a row last year, I asked him, colin, what are your personal goals for 2025? And that's when he came out and said, 10 sacks, blah, blah, blah and all. I don't even remember exactly, but it was very personal goal. Correct. You remember that? And everybody's like, oh, we're six games in and he only has X amount of sacks. And because he put himself up there, I asked him the same exact question this year. And you know what he said? To win a national championship.

Yeah, I asked him that again. We're going to see it on video. Matt's going to publish the video. We got, like eight minutes with. With Colin yesterday, and I asked him that question on video, too, so we could hear that response. Everybody could see that response twice. And growth. And he said, look, it's just maturity.

And it's part of it. Look, I mean, look, I agree. I think Colin's gonna be amazing this year. Look, just seeing his. Seeing him walk up yesterday and seeing how much He's, I told him on the video, I was like, dude, you're probably six 2, 185, 190 the first time I saw you in high school and look at him now. And that was going into his sophomore year, right around there, maybe 195. But it's just all growth, it's just all maturity and you know, and I, I think it's just. And also Bobby, I think with a guy like Collinson, he's a three and done player, period. Look, anybody that thinks that guy's coming back, we did an interview at the Senior bowl, representative, executive, whatever his, his actual title is. He said no chance. He's like zero chance that guy's coming back for another year. This is his last ride as a Texas Longhorn. And I think once you, you know, you start off and you have your goals for yourself, right, Going into college and you want to do this, you want to create a legacy, if you can, you want to be an All American, you want to be a top first round draft pick. All those dreams and goals, leaving high school. I think Colin realizes that's going to happen for him. I mean, he's going to be a first round pick. If he has a healthy, productive season, he's going to be a top five seven pick. That's done. That part is done. How do you want to leave the University of Texas? I, I want to leave the University of Texas. That's where the growth comes in for, for a young person, I think, is, I think he realizes that you want to leave as a champion if possible. He's going to be remembered as one of the best pass rushers to ever come through the school. That's done with one more healthy season, no doubt.

I, I just, I was impressed by his maturity. You used the right word, maturity. He's, he's. Every and every young person goes through it just at different times. Right. I mean, go from being a superstar where you're inner focused and that's all you can do. Because I mean, look, he was being asked a lot of, as a freshman and a sophomore, individually asked a lot of. Right. Led the team in sacks, all that stuff as a junior. Now he's trying to take on more of that leadership role and maturing. And it's not just about Colin Simmons. And I'm not saying it was ever just about Colin Simmons. But you know, to grow, sometimes you have to find, figure out what your next step is. And I think that's what he feels like his next step is. Yeah, being a Team leader.

To go along with being what I think is the most disruptive guy in college football on defense.

So he's his road to returning to college football if he wants to, would be more difficult. I would add this. I don't think he can go back to Vanderbilt because I'm not so sure. All right, well, let's, let's go back to Colin Simmons for a moment because like I said, he was asked about Mus champ and here's what he had to say about the defensive.

Colin Sark was in here a little bit ago and when he's talked about bringing in Coach must Champ, he's talked about aggressiveness and attacking style of defense. After you went through the whole spring and, and what you've done this summer for you specifically, do you feel like Coach must champ with the scheme and the mindset that he's brought to the table, that there's another level your game can get to that maybe we haven't seen yet or maybe that you, you maybe haven't thought you could get to? Yes, sir, much Champ. Definitely broaden all of ours mindset, you know, when it comes to defense, when it comes to the play style that we play, the aggressiveness, how he, how he carry himself, how he come about the game of football, man, I ain't gonna lie. I'm happy to be a part of this defense and I'm happy to be coached under him.

look, Sark reiterated his reason for hiring Will Muschamp in the first place yesterday. Said, look, I, I feel comfortable with handing over the defense entirely in its entirety to Steve Sarkeesian. All right. Excuse me. To Will Muschamp. Well, I'm still shaking off the cobwebs from the late night flight. He said that, Jerry. And a lot of people say, well, that's dismissive of what happened before. But Pete Kowski always had a little bit of collaboration. Pete Kowski was known for calling the defensive front and then Terry Joseph early in the career would call the secondary for the University of Texas. I think Sark was like, let's just have one play caller. And that's why he went to, to must Champ, among other reasons.

But when he talked about, when Sark talked about the additions to his staff, he included not only Will Muschamp, he also talked about Jabbar Jaluk, about Mark Stoops, Blake Gideon. Blake Gideon coming back. He wants a little more hard charging of a staff, in my opinion.

And I'm, I, I think that that's where Will Muschamp fits like a glove for Steve Sarkeesian.

Totally agree. I thought I. Look, I. I think they've all mentioned physicality, too. Blake, you meant you listen to Jabar Jalu. Yep. And must Champ. How much do they talk about physicality?

That was like, the main theme, but for both of them, especially Muschamp. But Jalc as well. And by the way, guys, when mushamp talk, I've never seen a room that full. I had to watch his lecture outside.

Like, outside the doors. And it took about halfway through for me to get my way into the very back of the room.

And that's at the Texas High School Coaches Association.

And it was. It wasn't a small classroom. I mean, this was like a full size, you know, not an auditorium, but pretty dang close.

Look, I don't. I think it's. I don't think it's a coincidence that all these guys are talking physicality, physicality, physicality. It's all part of evolving and growing as a coach. I don't care how old you are. I mean, Nick Saban evolved as a coach late in his career when the rules of the game changed to be more offensive. He realized 10, seven games were a thing of the past. He had to evolve. I think you're seeing Sark evolve. Look, Sean Miller had to evolve as an offensive basketball coach after some really 66, 64, 64, 60 Elite 8 losses where he had more offensive talent than that. He's had to evolve as a coach. I think you're seeing Sark evolve as a coach right now. He is. He's been in this league now for multiple years. And Florida physically beat Texas last year. Georgia, when people say, hey, they're more physical. Jabar Jaluk said, we thought we're going to beat Texas because we were going to be more physical.

They know, coach, Coach Sark knows that. He knows where his program's at. These guys are coming in, ramping up physicality to talk about physicality and the demand of physicality, the shirt that will muschampers that carries over to both sides of the ball. These are guys are talking, and they're going to do what they were brought in and to get done, and that is for Texas to take the next step. Does that mean you're going to win the title? There are no guarantees, but I do think you're seeing Sark take the steps that need to be taken, Bobby, as you grow in the SEC and as you evolve and grow as a football coach. So kudos. If he was if he wasn't, people would be like, whoa, is he going to get over the hump? He's given himself every chance to get over the hump, in my opinion. See what happens.

Let's see here. This super chat from Justin Yarbrough. We have talked a lot about adding must champ and Jabar. How does. How much does Blake Gideon returning help the secondary? Y' all kick butt this week, fellas. Hook them. And thank you, Justin, for the super chat.

I think Gideon has the same mindset that Will Muschamp has he played for him, Bobby. I think they're on the same page. So I think it's a really good marriage of coaches. And I think this. The messaging is going to be the same, and I think it goes right back in line with what we were just talking about. That's my take on that personally. And I think Blake Gideon is a guy who wore the uniform, had some great wins and a really tough loss. I think it won't. Doesn't matter to him. It matters to those guys that played at Texas. The coach or the coaches? The coach at their alma mater, you know, and Blake.

If you don't know Blake, and I'm not sitting here saying I'm his best friend or something, but I've known of him and known him for a long time. His demeanor lends itself a lot to being a player's coach, but also a hard ass at the same time. Not unlike Will Muschamp. That it's. It's eerily similar in some ways. He's a little bit younger and so he's a little bit more hip, so to speak. But I think Blake is a good. A complimentary piece to Will Mustune. I really do believe that. And, you know, I also think that Musamp has a lot of confidence in Blake Gideon.

He doesn't have to worry about how the safety spots being coached.

I can go coach the nickels.

That's my point. Like Will Musamp was. Is a control. No. And I don't. I don't say this negatively. He's a control freak. Most college football coaches are. So he's not different. But if something's not going right, he has to take his eye off the ball and go do something else instead of pushing forward on his position. I think he has elite confidence in Blake Gideon given that he's been coaching. He coached Blake Gideon and knows how Blake took coaching. I, I'm. I'm a big believer in. In that hire as much as any this offseason.

Hey, Blake. Something I want to hit on because it's, it's come up a lot. Will John Meredith be in fall camp in two weeks? Yeah. I mean, he is good to go now. Where does that mean for him? No, we're not getting into any of that now. Look, he's, there's a lot of guys who are well ahead of him and I don't. And somebody brought up Kelvin Banks earlier. It's different. Kelvin Banks played four years of high school. I mean, offensive tackle, there's some differences there. Everybody develops at different stages. Kelvin Banks physically was ready to go from day one as a college offensive tackle. But John Meredith is good to go. He is, will be moving into Austin pretty quickly here. He will be taking part in fall camp. As is the case with any new athlete that comes into a university, there's about a 48 hour period. They have to do all the medical testing, get cleared, like make sure everybody, you know, passes all their medicals. And then once that little 48 hour window passes, then they're good to go on the field. But he will be there for fall camp. He will be enrolled at Texas for the fall semester. He is officially part of the University of Texas football program and the University of Texas as a student.

All right, let's get to some more super chats. Talked a little bit about recruiting there with Meredith. How about this one from Juan Garza? Two things. Who does Texas go for in corner in 2027 and also the nil. Does that free up 2027 for Easton Royal?

I. I look at it a little differently. I think John Meredith still pretty much counts as a 2027 corner. As far as the need in their eyes, him moving into this class, I. I don't think really changes anything because it's a. It's based on need. So I still think safety. I'm looking more at safety in 27. And look, if some corner pops up, then obviously pop up. But that's going to be more what happens during the season, Bobby, with guys who are already on campus, if another. If they feel like there's another need at corner. And that wouldn't have anything to do with John Meredith reclassing. It would have to do with the guys on campus. Does anybody make a position move to safety from corner? I'm not talking about Kobe Black. I'm talking about a young guy, one of the freshmen, one of the guys who are red shirt freshmen or whatever. Does somebody make a move? I think. I think John Meredith still pretty much counts as 27 even though he's there now. But I'm looking more at safety in 27. Right now, I don't think it.

I just, I look Caleb Thornton was a tremendous player at the University of Texas. Private school guy out of Dallas. Then we had the Achos come after that. Also private school guys. Jet Bush though

You know, all that sort of stuff. And I'll never forget that touchdown return that came off of Taj Boyd's shoe at the against Texas Tech and him rumbling down there to get a touchdown. Fond memories of number 43.

Not a lot of people know this, but he had a heart condition when he was a junior in high school and actually had surgery. I talking to Sark yesterday. One of the Things he relayed to us was that on the plane from Austin to Tampa yesterday, yesterday morning, he and Trevor Goosy Bee compared heart scars on their chest because obviously Sark had a. Had a heart procedure while at Alabama a few years back. He said they, they compared scars and they also talked, apparently. And I didn't know this. There's a pillow that they give you when you have heart surgery that you use to push, push against your heart so that when you lean forward, lean back, whatever, it doesn't hurt. And he said. Sark said he and Trevor Goosby talked about how important that heart pillow was. Like, they were like, sharing war stories basically over heart surgery yesterday. But no, I thought he was. Trevor was. When I say mature, it goes beyond just the way he addresses people. I thought that he handled a couple of questions very well. I, I asked him personally about Cole Hudson and the potential return, and Trevor actually said, look, that's for Coach Sark to discuss. He, like, he said, I appreciate the question, but I don't need to be talking about that. And we moved on to the next thing. Those little things shows that he's moving to a different level mentally, in my opinion, and trying to. Trying to up his game not in a different way than Colin Simmons now, because I think Colin's much more gregarious as an individual. Right. And so it's. It was fun to watch those guys yesterday. Great representative of the University of Texas, in my opinion.

You know, it's going to be a heck of a photo this year. I didn't ask Trevor about this. We got. We sat down with him for a few minutes to. Producer Matt will have that with Colin Simmons coming up here. I did ask Trevor about getting to wear the same uniform as Austin this year. They're also great friends with the Spears family. Thank you, Bobby. Okay, we got a question from X and this comes from Floss Boss. He says confidence is obviously at an all time high under the staff. How does Sark ensure that translates to wins this season?

[D]

I asked him that personally and I, I think that it doesn't necessarily and he would say it doesn't, the amount of confidence he has on this team and his team. He went to the mic yesterday and said, look, we're talented. I, I know talent and I'm not some idiot. And we've got good offense, we've got talent on defense, we got talent and special teams. It's all about going out and executing and nothing ensures that. Though the one thing that I asked him, and I think Jeff Howe asked him as well, how do you make sure you get guys, how do you make sure that you start off quicker than you did a year ago because they finished strong, Texas finished strong on offense, I thought how do you make sure you get out of the gate quickly against Texas State, against Ohio State, against Tennessee, against Oklahoma because you haven't started strong last year. What's, what do you need to do this year? And he said, look, we've, we've done some things but really about execution and pushing execution at a high level earlier in the process. And I think he does believe that it being Arch's second year as a starter and not a newcomer as a starter that that will pay some dividends. But it's not necessarily, it's not necessarily a situation where Texas has to worry about one thing or the other, not confidence relating to wins as much as it is just executing with the talent you have.

It's a good follow up to that, Jerry. Add add Bobby, did y' all like Sark's answer on penalties? Look, I did because he knows if you're in the 130s, you're not going to have the season you want to have. I also like what he said. Look, just, look, there's, there are some penalties that are always going to be, you can live with as a coaching staff. You want your guys to play to the whistle. Look, if There's a, there may be a hustle play here and there where it's not a bad football play that you don't execute it per. You can live with that. The full speed things. I think it's the what the penalties are and the timing of those penalties and how many of those there are the unforced errors, the down and distances when they happen. But I think at the end of the day Bobby, he addressed it at the Houston Touchdown Club with the all the Texas fans there. He's addressed it I believe at thcf, at THSCA and now he said it was the number first thing he talked to the team about coming back from break. So they know you can't be 135 in penalties and play schedule. Texas is going to play this year and end up in the College Football Playoff. That's not a likely scenario for you. He knows they have to improve but he also, you know one thing with the penalties for Texas if you're a wide zone run scheme. We talked to Brooks Austin about this the the Film Guy network of which we'll have interview with him. If you're a big wide zone run game playing against athletes in the sec, you're going to get some holds. I mean they're going to beat you to your landmarks, Bobby. And they're really good athletes. But it's, it's, it's the unforced errors and it's the win and where are those penalties and that's what has to be cleaned up. You're not going to play perfect football but you got to clean up the self inflicted.

That's, that's exactly what Sark said. He, he categorized him twofold pre snap and post snap penalties and then in game penalties.

He goes look, we have to not have as many pre snap, post snap penalties as we do in game penalties. That is his, that's where he's focused. One of the things he said they did this year to change that he thought was whenever somebody did have a penalty or didn't do something right. Instead of just one person having to do push ups or having to to pay for their, their misdeed, he had the whole position group do it. So they felt like they were a team that was responsible for a penalty, not just an individual.

And that was one of the, the changes that he made this offseason.
