Jerry Hamilton on Texas football here, the guy I've covered for a long time here, Trevor Goosby, preseason All American, first team all SEC last year. Trevor, we got to get right to it. Preparation from last year to this year. Where do you feel like you're better? Where do you feel like this team's going to be better?

You know, I just think for myself, I'll start myself first. I think just the, the strength is definitely going to, you know, be better for sure. You know, Coach Beckham's done a great job of getting my body prepared. That and then just my leadership aspect as well. You know, having to grow as a leader. Now that I've become a vet in the program, I think that'll also take a jump. And then obviously for this team, we have some really good players that have transferred in. You know, just the cohesion of the team in general. Offense, defense, special teams. I think, you know, you'll see a lot of improvement from this team this year.

Of the guys who have transferred in, you got a lot of help on offensive side of the ball. For you guys who maybe tell somebody who has a really good personality because they don't get to know these guys like you do, who just made you smile, who's got the personality.

Definitely a Riley Brown for sure. He's a, he's a guy that's, you know, if you want a good laugh, you talk to that guy. He's always got a buffet personality. Him and then Hollywood, some others as well. Just our running back duo. Yeah, they're definitely a group of guys for sure. They're a great group.

On the defensive side, obviously, Bo Masco had a great spring. Rasheem Biles, what have you seen from those guys, man?

Yeah, those dudes are. They're killing it right now. And obviously I go against him because he's a, he's, you know, linebacker. And that guy, he's just got a super quick twitch off the ball, you know, super quick trigger and, you know, it's.

He'll play really good football for it, especially in Will Mushrooms defense.

Probably. Oh, hero. Hero's A good trash talker. I would say Colin. Like, he'll try to trash talk me, but I really won't say nothing. Magnet. He'll get even madder at me. Yeah, I think those are the two biggest ones for sure.

You know, so I keep hearing a lot about young Richard Wesley. What have you seen from Richard Wesley? The young defensive in the freshman edge out of California.

You know, obviously he passes the eye test. You know, big, big dude, you know, fit guy. You know, he's, he's, he's definitely learned from Colin a lot for sure. You know, being able to power rush, speed rush, and I, I just see a lot of improvement from him since the spring.

What are, what are, what do you think the keys are for you guys to have the type of season y'

all want, like just staying together. That's the biggest thing is just, you know, being united as one. You know, just kind of getting, getting the culture going, you know, and just kind of keeping that culture up that, you know, Sarka is bleeding into his players. And Sark does a really great job of, you know, letting us know what the culture is and what the standard is here. So.

So offensive line, okay, your. Yourself, obviously you're back. Left guard, still be determined. Connor Robertson going to his first full year as a starter. At center right guard, Brandon Baker moves inside. Melvin S right tackle. How have you seen this guy? I obviously got to come together on the field, but how have you seen you guys starting to come together before the first game? How's that going for you guys?

Going really well. You know, we'll do a bunch of off field, off field stuff. We actually just went out to Ketterman Ranch. For those of you that do know. You know, we went fast fishing, catfishing, we did some ski shooting. It was just a really good time to bond with the guys, you know, not even just us five, but the whole group, you know, because it doesn't just take us five, it takes the whole group of guys. So.

Yeah, I gotta ask, I gotta get one question in about your brother Austin being on campus. How special is that for you guys to get to put on the same uniform this year?

It'll be amazing. You know, just, I'm so proud of him and everything that he's accomplished and, you know, obviously him coming to Texas has been. Has been great for me as well. It's just, you know, having the family member. Member to. To go watch now, you know, and just, you know, going to support him.

So when you. When you left Melissa High School, you graduated from Melissa High School, did you have. Was. What were your goals? Was it first team all America? Was. Was that a goal you had?

Man, you know, I. I just wanted to go get a good education. That was kind of the first and foremost thing. You know, I was telling somebody earlier, like, I don't feel like I was that good in high school. So, you know, I was just going in to get an education and, you know, just work as hard as I can and see what happens. And that was kind of my goals at first. And, you know, as the years went on, the goals have changed of, you know, wanting to be this, then want that, you know, but the main thing for me is just kind of taking it one day at a time. And really, the main thing for the whole team is taking it one day at a time. And, you know, that's kind of the biggest thing.

When did you feel like you were starting to get closer to 100% coming off that injury in your workouts? And has that. How has that helped you from. I know you've worked on lower body strength during that time as well.

C
Definitely, for sure. You know, obviously with shoulder injury, we've. We focused a lot on lower body. Just make sure my lower body is strong enough. And like I said, Coach Beckton and his staff, they've done an amazing job just being able to. To get my shoulder back to 100% while strengthening everything else. You know, shoulder core or not shoulder, legs core, and, you know, all the above. And you. I feel like they've done an amazing job.

Hey, Abby Miller with a reflector at Mississippi State. This is your fourth year with the Longhorns. Why did you choose Texas and what's made you stay with the Portal being so popular recently?

I think just the coaching. When I first got here, I was originally committed to tcu and then I went on my official to Texas and just kind of hearing what Coach Flood had to say and how he broke down my film, that's kind of what got me to Texas and that's what has had me to stay at Texas, you know, despite the transfer Portal front row.

Hey Trevor, Cord Samuels have inside Texas. What things have you done in this offseason as an offensive line unit to kind of, you know, just increase the physicality at the line of scrimmage? You know, a lot of talk last year about us just not being strong enough at the point of attack and I know it's not a strength issue. So what things going to be technique wise or just drill wise have y' all encouraged?

I think just, you know, I think it's more of a mental thing, like mentality thing rather than A technique thing. Obviously, we're going to do our technique drills and do our individual and stuff, but, you know, for me personally, you know, sometimes I'll bring the guys in and we'll watch, you know, plays where, you know, it didn't work because of us and, you know, plays. We needed to be more physical and just kind of, you know, pushing that narrative to the guys. That is kind of the biggest thing that we've done this off season.

When you look at your goals, obviously team is at the top. What individual goals do you want to meet so you get to those team goals?

H
I think for me, I think it starts with the team goals and, you know, just the aspirations that we have as a team. And Coach Sark says all the time, you know, you know, team success brings individual accolades. So hopefully, if we accomplish what we say we want to accomplish, then I'll be able to win those individual goals.

It's kind of hard to ignore. I can see the pin on your left shoulder says every 15 minutes. Can you just explain what that is and what that means?

Yeah.

So every 15 minutes, a child is born with a congenital heart defect. And so I was one of those kids. And so When I was 16 years old, I had heart surgery for an ASD. And it was. It was a tough time for me. And just kind of getting back from that, I understood it took a toll on me mentally, and it was. It was hard. And, you know, now that I have this platform, I just want to be able to, you know, bring awareness to this. I feel like it's something that's not talked about often and just be a pillar for these kids that are, you know, going through it and be a pillar for, you know, the confidence of these kids and just knowing that they're not alone in this journey.

Hey, Trevor, what things have you seen out of, you know, transfers? Lawrence, Seymour, Melvin, Siani, obviously. And then you got Dylan, Sikorski, others. What have you seen from them in the offseason? You know, encouraged that you all are going to be a more stronger, more deep unit in 2026?

H
I think to start off, they, you know, they've brought us closer. I feel like, you know, despite them being transfers, they brought us all closer as an offensive line. Like, you know, Melvin and Lawrence are, you know, one of my best friends on the team. In such a short amount of time, they just brought the cohesiveness of the o Line together and then, you know, just that athleticism. You know, Melvin is really quick on his feet, really athletic tackle. You know, Lawrence is a really, you know, tenacious, athletic run blocker, pass blocker, obviously from Western Kentucky, you know, all American for a reason.

Jeff Howe on Texas football, Trevor Sark was talking about some of the new additions to the staff from going back to spring ball, the addition of Coach Muschamp and Coach Jalute coming in. In terms of the physicality, the intensity of practice, how those two guys specifically change things, whether you guys are doing team period, or inside run, whatever it is, how much have they helped improve or I guess amplify the physicality of. On both sides of the ball.

I think it's. They just bring that energy every day. You know, the, the. The coach must champ that you. That you guys have seen the last couple years, like the last couple decades.

He's still that guy. You know, he's just a little bit older now and then Coach Jalook is always bringing that energy with the running backs, and, you know, I can really feel it from the running back group. You know, they're always bringing that energy as well. And so, you know, all that energy brought to, you know, inside run and team, it just, you know, makes us play with more energy and play more physical. So.

as we see it, what are the difficulties of blocking Colin Simmons? Yeah, he's a. He's a slippery guy. You know, for me, like, it's like guarding somebody. It's like in basketball, like playing defense in basketball. You know, he's super fast, has great, you know, twitch and great end. And ultimately, he's just an elite pass rusher. And he gets me better every day. And so it's such a blessing going against him every day because it helps me prepare for, you know, SEC games and schedules and in the future. So.

What's it going to be like to face your former teammate in October? You know, it'll be good to see him, but, you know, that was kind of his decision, you know, going from Texas to ou. And, you know, that's kind of with him, you know, that's. That's kind of a him thing.

Yeah. On that note, Trevor, actually coach had that same question, and he said he wants to kick Parker's ass. Excuse my language. But then he also mentioned after the A M. Game, the Mike Elko video that played, he wasn't a fan of that either. And just mentioning how he feels like the emotions in the rivalry game is very important, and you feel like that's why y' all been so successful during those rivalry games. So when it comes to this team, why has the emotions been checked so well going against OU, Texas A& M, Arkansas of the world?

I think just understanding the caliber of school that we're at, you know, and Texas is a powerhouse, and everybody knows, you know, about Texas, and we have to be able to control our emotions because, you know, we're going to get everybody's best shot. And so ultimately, we have to put our best foot forward every single week. So that's kind of how we've checked our emotions and our, you know, regulated it.

Trevor, when you went back and looked at the run game specifically last year, just from your individual perspective and an online perspective, what did you feel like either didn't click or need to change? And do you feel like the work you guys have done from January up until now, do you feel you guys have taken the steps you need to have the kind of run game you want?

Yeah, I feel like sometimes we just. We, you know, first and foremost, we weren't physical enough. Obviously we weren't, you know, moving bodies away that we should have. And then sometimes I always felt like, you know, we were just kind of playing as five individuals rather than five is one, you know, and everybody was kind of. It was just kind of five offensive linemen out there rather than one offensive line unit. And that's kind of how I felt about last year. And, you know, like I said, with the cohesion of the O line off the field, you know, we've. We're such a tight group this year that, you know, I feel like it'll show on the field.

Let's fast forward to a September at Austin. It's hot. You're there at Memorial Stadium. Everybody's yelling, hook em horns. They're in burnt orange. Bevo's at the front. You're in the tunnel. You haven't. It's not your first rodeo, but do you still get goosebumps?

Oh, absolutely. Most definitely. You know, I don't take any of these moments for granted. You know, the fans are awesome. They're always rowdy at dkr and, you know, I'm so grateful for them and just kind of the environment is electric. You know, that's one of those One of those moments that you just. Sometimes you want to die for it.

So front row, you're a twitch streamer. Now, where did that come about? What made you want to start doing that? And is that just something you enjoy doing?

H
Yeah, I love doing it. I feel like I have a great personality, you know, whether that's playing video games or doing reactions and just kind of watching other streamers do it, you know, other big streamers. It's like, man, I feel like, you know, as a family, like my older brother and I, we love to do it, you know, we just felt like we can really do, like, create something out of it, you know.

Trev, can you talk a little bit about the tight end room? You know, a lot of guys fighting for. For rotation there, you know, still kind of figuring out the pecking order. What have you seen, if you want to mention maybe a thing about a couple of them, if you don't mind.

Yeah. With our tight end room, you know, obviously we got a bunch of talented guys. You know, Spencer Shannon, you got Michael Mason, Soonish, you got, you know, Nick Townsend, Mari Winston. Those guys really just kind of a development for, you know, not only the past game, but also the run game and just getting more physical and, you know, we're getting a lot more out of those guys for sure. So, you know, Coach Banks and Coach Kazula have done a great job of, you know, really bringing those guys along

Trevor, Coach just mentioned in his big press conference there that brought you and Arch and Colin, all three guys out of high school coming to Texas, no portal guy there, and came when you and Arch specifically came when, you know, the Alpha 8 and 5 season. And here you are now, upperclassmen coming to SEC media days. You also mentioned a lot of scavenger hunt yesterday. So who won the scavenger hunt and how important is it has. You guys are the foundation of this

program that's still up for debate. We still got guys that are going to court with Judge Becton. So, you know, guys are still trying to fight for their, you know, winning cause, but I think it means a lot to us because of just how much the University of Texas means to us, you know, Arch, Colin and I. And just kind of, for me personally, I'm a third generation Longhorn. My grandparents went here, my parents went here, and, you know, obviously now I'm here. So, you know, Texas has always had, you know, a place in my heart. So now I'm just glad that I'm able to represent this football team here at SEC media day.
