Welcome to the Otherworld Patreon. I'm your host, Jack Wagner. What you're hearing is a short preview of a full bonus episode available on our Patreon right now. You could Hear it@patreon.com Otherworld this episode features two stories that both take place in military schools. Well, to be specific, one is a Marine training facility and the other one is a military high school. I remember when I was growing up, and I'm sure for many other people listening, military school was constantly used as a sort of looming threat by my parents. Whenever I would do something bad or misbehave, you know, mess up one more time and we're sending you to military school. What's funny about that tactic is I think they were using it when I was a little too young and didn't even fully understand what it meant. I think that it even sounded kind of fun when I was a 10 year old. That being said, after growing up and having several of my friends actually go to military school and then other friends fully enlist in the military, I of course learned what it's actually like and how intense of an environment it could be for so many reasons. However, typically those are not paranormal reasons. But in the case of these two people you're about to hear from, that's exactly what's going on. So let's get this started. We're going to call this episode New Recruits. And you're listening to the Otherworld Patreon.

I guess the first thing I remember happening was we, they would go over to S1. You'd go downstairs. It's kind of set up the same way upstairs, downstairs. So you'd go in through the upstairs and then you walk downstairs, right? And it was like pretty creepy in there. Like I remember there was at night they have kind of like those red lights. Kind of like you see like in a movie when, when the power goes out and like the emergency lights come on, it's like those red lights. So at night those were on in there and just, and then just like exit signs, right? So it's like kind of pretty creepy light in there and it's like super quiet, nobody's there. And you'd go in there and people started saying that they, they heard dogs. They basically said they would hear dogs scratching and whining. That was about the extent of it. People just hear dogs at night. Sometimes in the second squad bay, people would report hearing dogs coming from S1, but there's no dogs there. Later on, I think it was in the museum on base. Someone Found out that there used to be dog kennels at that location where the squad bay was. And so, like, when we found this out, we were like, man, what the hell? That's insane. Everyone's saying they're hearing dogs over here. And then we find out later that there were dog kennels on that spot. That kind of, like, freaked us out, but it made us more motivated to ghost hunt. And so we would, like, do the ghost hunts, like, just go over there, you know, every few nights or something. Usually nothing ever happened. Like, you might hear something or whatever, but not much is happening. So we kind of just like, kept going on, like, these random ghost hunts, I guess, for. For a while, like, nothing really happened that I remember. And then one night, we were all sitting in. In the second squad bay, like, hanging out, like, because only half of it had beds. We had, like, a section in there, like, with tables. And we just kind of, like, hang out and sit there and talk. And one guy needed to go to the bathroom. And as a reminder, the bathroom is in the hallway between that squad bay and the office building, kind of the main place we're going to ghost hunt. And he goes in there and he's like this big Texan, right? Think of your stereotypical Texan. And this is who this guy was. He was into bodybuilding. Shaved head, kind of like, pretty intimidating, actually. And pretty soon he comes out of the bathroom screaming with his, like, pants down around his ankles, tripping. And we're like, man, man, what happened? And then he says that, like, he's going to the bathroom, and he just heard, like, a. A whisper of, like, gibberish, like, directly in his ear. He, like, wasn't sure, like, what it was exactly or what it said, but it's like, directly in his ear. Like, he felt warm air, and he said, you know, heard that, like, kind of wind sound when, like, wind comes in your ear. And, like, he felt a hot air on the side of his face, and he was, like, totally freaked out. And from then on, he would, like, not go with us anymore. And he would, like, tell us that we shouldn't be going either. And, I mean, we thought it was kind of funny. Like, this big, tough bodybuilder guy is, like, terrified. And it was to the point, like, we kind of, like, tease him about it. And he was, like, so terrified. He was, like, easy to scare. He would just, like, kind of sneak up behind him and, like, do something to him, like touch the back of his neck or, like, blow on his head or something. And he Would freak out. He was terrified after that. At that point, it was still kind of a joke to us. This guy was terrified, and he kept telling us that we shouldn't, like, go anymore, and he wouldn't go with us anymore. But we were still, like, teasing him about it, right? Like, we thought it was still, like, funny. For most of us, nothing had ever actually happened. We just heard things that had happened to other people and, you know, hearing, like, ghost dogs, that's not that scary to us. Like, we. We thought it was, like, cool more than anything. Like, oh, we live in, like, the haunted squad bay. That's awesome. That's kind of how everyone thought about it. We were all pretty bored there. So, like, you know, our trip's next door and, like, trying to, like, scare ourselves or kind of how we're entertaining ourselves, right? The next thing that happened, we had got a new platoon commander or platoon sergeant. I don't remember, because the old one sucked. He was terrible. He was like, come. Like, he'd, like, come in drunk all the time. Didn't like, care about anything. We got a new one, and he decided he was going to whip the platoon into shape. And so something he made us do was because there was only, like, by this time, there's only like, four or five of us in the second squad bay. He said, like, we all needed to be in the same one and we could turn the second squad bay into, like, kind of like a kitchen hangout area. There's, like, a fridge in there and, like, a couple tables and stuff like that. And. But what we did was we took all the beds in there and pushed all of the bunk beds into one corner. So, you know, if you can imagine, like, probably 20 bunk beds pushed up against each other in one corner. And some of us had to work. Some of us, like, had jobs that we did just trying to stay busy during the day. And I remember it was a Friday night because I had to work on the Saturday and nobody else had to. But like I said, by this time, we'd all been moved into the first squad bay, and there was no one staying in the second squad bay anymore. And I couldn't sleep because people, like, in there, like, they're talking, they're being loud. Some people are, like, playing video games. And I couldn't sleep in there. So I get up to go sleep in the other squad bay. And I go in there and, you know, so I'm laying on one of these, like, random in these row of bunk of bunk beds pushed up against the corner. I'M like, kind of in the middle, so I wouldn't be disturbed. And I was, like, laying there, and I start hearing a tapping sound. And at first, I thought it was, like, the ventilation or something, like a fan running and, like, clicking. But then, like, I realized the tapping was. It didn't have, like, a rhythm. It felt like it was, like, quite random, like, tap, tap, tap, tap, tap. And it would stop, and then it would kind of do that again. And so I was able to deduce that it. It probably wasn't a fan, because if it was a fan, it would probably have, like, a steady rhythm to it.
