Hey, everybody. This week on the Otherworld, Patreon, I have a returning guest that many of you might remember from the episode titled the Goop Demon. Her name is Rosie Grant, and this time she is returning to the podcast as a published author. Her book To Die for is out this week. We will, of course, be discussing that and everything that this book involves. But I've actually wanted to have Rosie back on the show ever since her episode came out because she actually has several more stories that I thought were incredible. One involves a haunted doll and a priest. One involves the Mothman. I didn't even know this happened to her until recently. And on top of that, last year, she had a very unusual saga involving a cursed family ring that even I got dragged into at one point. We'll be discussing all of that and of course, her book To Die for, which is in stores now. Go check that out and you can listen and watch this episode right now@patreon.com Otherworld this is going to be a short preview if you want to hear the full thing. Once again, it's out now on the Otherworld, Patreon.

When I was meeting with her, because this is when a few met with Wendy outdoors in, like, her yurt.
A
Oh, yeah. She has a yurt in her backyard.
B
She has a yurt in her backyard, which is like, boy, does that place have a presence. While we were having our meeting, another big car crash happened right outside of her house. And Wendy. Wendy, of course, of all people, goes, oh, that's spooky. Aren't you the car crash person? And I was like, yeah, that's funny. When the psychic says something is spooky.
A
Yeah. You're not the only person who's, like, gotten into a car accident on the way to Wendy. Oh, my gosh, I forget who else. I mean, maybe that's paranormal. Maybe that just says something about the type of people who are going to see Wendy and their driving capabilities or the state of mind and life that they're in on the way to see a clairvoyant woman. But honestly, it is. No, I mean, it does feel. I said early on that, like, weird stuff would happen when I was around Wendy.
B
Yeah.
A
Where I'd just be like, this does not feel normal.
B
No, there's something going on. And I mean, it got even funnier. So, like, then this. This goes into the cursed ring situation. So basically, I think I had texted you, my partner and I, we just got engaged with not. Not the cursed ring, but basically his family had two diamond rings in it. One Just came from her mom, James's mom. My partner's name, James. One came from James's mom, and one was her engagement ring that she had inherited. And it was an old family ring, and, like, generations down. And basically she had at first offered it to either me or his older brother, who was also getting engaged. And then in the very last second, and I was like. It was, like, very old. I was like, I'm so scared of losing this. I'm not interested in that. It's just too much of my personality to. I'm like, I can't. I can't be trusted with anything valuable. I'll take. You know, I'll take. She had this other ring that I was like, that sounds amazing. Like, we were gonna get something, like, cheap on Etsy. So. But then at the last second, she changed her mind with the family. One being like, no one can have this ring. It's cursed. And we were like, what? And then suddenly I'm like, wait, now I'm interested.
A
Yeah.
B
And so I was like, well, you know, we'll just uncurse it. I'm sure that happens all the time. I listen to other world episodes where people go through the emotions. So I texted you to be like, jack, do you know how to uncurse an object? And I was like, would Wendy know something? And you were like, no, no, no, that's not her thing. Yeah, it's a weird. It's a weird request, I think. Okay. So you sent me the details of a pet psychic. Pet psychic gave me some wrecks. So I spent. This was April last year. I spent, like, a day going. Mostly it was places in Burbank. They have a bunch of, like, witchy stores. So I went from, like, place to place and was just. And some of the places I should say I reached out to, and they were like, do not bring that ring here. Like, we don't want it touching our.
A
Stuff, by the way, that's the type of response I. That's the type of response I would want.
B
Right, Exactly. I thought it was a very helpful, like, people were being. They were taking it seriously. They were like, do not bring it here. Our stuff might make it worse. We don't want your thing kind of contaminating our stuff. And so they're basically just like, that's out of our services. And so I was like, great. I appreciate it. I went to a few places that, like, the vibe didn't seem right. And eventually I ended up with the Green man store in Burbank. They were so nice. They handled it. They were very. They took it very seriously. But they were also, like. They weren't, like, exacerbating the problem. They weren't like. Like, some places were like, whoa, you're gonna die. And the Green Man Store was like, yeah, we have someone who can deal with that. Like, we'll make an appointment for tomorrow. Tell us about the history. Give us the name. Like, give us as much information as you can.

Episode: The Cursed Ring with Rosie Grant [Patreon Preview]
Host: Jack Wagner
Guest: Rosie Grant
Release Date: October 8, 2025
The episode centers around returning guest Rosie Grant, known for her previous appearance discussing supernatural encounters, who returns as a newly published author. Rosie shares a variety of strange and paranormal stories—including events with a haunted doll, the Mothman, and her most recent experience: unraveling the mystery of a cursed family ring. The discussion weaves together the eerie, the humorous, and the practicalities of dealing with so-called cursed objects as Rosie seeks a solution for her fiancé’s allegedly doomed heirloom.
Rosie recounts a visit with psychic Wendy, known for her backyard yurt with a "presence."
During her visit, a car crash occurs outside Wendy’s house, which prompts an in-joke about psychic clients and accidents.
Rosie: “While we were having our meeting, another big car crash happened right outside of her house... When the psychic says something is spooky.” [01:29]
Jack theorizes about why so many visitors to Wendy experience weird events—possibly paranormal, possibly just the type of people who seek out clairvoyants.
Jack: “Maybe that just says something about the type of people going to see Wendy and their driving capabilities or the state of mind... when you’re going to see a clairvoyant woman.” [01:47]
Rosie describes how her partner James’s family had two old diamond rings: one newer, one a multi-generational heirloom.
James’s mother nearly passed the antique ring on, but suddenly declared no one could have it—"it’s cursed."
This proclamation instantly piqued Rosie’s curiosity.
Rosie: “At the last second, she changed her mind... being like, no one can have this ring. It’s cursed. And we were like, what? And then suddenly I’m like, wait, now I’m interested.” [03:20]
Rosie jokes about “uncursing” the object, mentioning how it’s a common theme on Otherworld, and reaches out to Jack for advice.
Rosie: "I was like, well, you know, we'll just uncurse it. I'm sure that happens all the time. I listen to Otherworld episodes where people go through the emotions." [03:37] Rosie: "So I texted you to be like, Jack, do you know how to uncurse an object? And I was like, would Wendy know something? And you were like, no, no, no, that's not her thing." [03:37]
Rosie embarks on a quest across Burbank’s witchy stores, seeking help to remove the curse.
She notes the seriousness with which some metaphysical shopkeepers regard cursed items.
Rosie: “Some of the places I reached out to... were like, do not bring that ring here. Like, we don’t want it touching our stuff.” [04:14]
Jack: “That’s the type of response I would want.” [04:30]
Eventually, at the Green Man store, staff handle the cursed ring situation professionally—offering a solution without sensationalism.
Rosie: "The Green Man Store was like, yeah, we have someone who can deal with that. We’ll make an appointment for tomorrow. Tell us about the history. Give us the name. Like, give us as much information as you can." [05:01]
The episode is conversational, humorous, and lightly spooky—balancing genuine curiosity with playful skepticism. Rosie’s storytelling is self-deprecating and inviting, while Jack adds wry observations and practical skepticism.
