What's up? Out of pocket, fam. It's your boy, RG3 and the 129 time all American grate Griffin. All right, we're back in the pocket after the 2026 NFL Draft in Pittsburgh. Man, three days of chaos, trades, slides, family hugs, and teams loading up for another super bowl run. And we're breaking it all down today. The most viral moments that had Twitter and X losing their mind, the clear winners and losers of the draft, and a deep dive on how my old squad, the Washington Commanders, the Baltimore Ravens, the Cleveland Browns. But also we're going to get into the jets, the Giants and the Eagles and talk about how they all got significantly better if we have time because this is out of pocket and we're going to do the show in 30 minutes or less. So strap it on up, people. Buckle up and let's get ready to go. No fluff, just straight analysis from a guy who's been there and done that. And of course, then a girl who has not. This amazing woman next to me. Welcome to the huddle, people. Let's get out of pocket and break down the 2026 NFL Dr. Biggest slide in draft history. I don't know. Is there a family reunion going on in Atlanta?
B
Let's get to opening drive. We gotta start with the biggest slide since Shadur Sanders in recent memory. Jermaine McCoy was a top 10 lock all pre draft despite missing on entire 2025 season with the torn ACL.
A
Yep.
B
And a knee bone plug. Concerns forced teams to reconsider drafting him early. So he was there waiting until day three for the Raiders to finally trade up and sel him in the fourth round at pick 101. What kind of a player do you think the Raiders are getting in? J. McCoy?
A
Oh, I mean, listen, Jamal McCoy is an absolute beast. He's a dog. This guy lives in man coverage. He's got great ball skills. He had four interceptions in the red zone in 2024. So what that means to me is as a corner, he's never giving up on the play. And it was honestly heartbreaking to see what happened because all this guy wants to do is play football. That's it. He just wants to fulfill his dream. And yes, the torn ACL was an issue, but it was really that, that bone plug that they were talking about, that if he has surgery on it or the surgery doesn't go the right way, he could never play football again. That is heartbreaking, especially when, you know as an athlete. As an athlete, what we have to go through to even get to the pinnacle, to have it stripped away from you before you ever actually get a chance to do it. It has to be heartbreaking for him and heartbreaking for his family.
B
Absol.
A
But I can tell you this. If the Las Vegas Raiders get this guy on the field, they will not regret making this pick. He is a dynamic talent, first round guy. Not even just a first round talent. He was a top 10 pick.
B
Yeah.
A
Before all this happened and all this news came out. So if they get him on the field, they just got a top 10 pick in the fourth round of the draft. Let's all pray and Hope that Jamal McCoy can come out on top and get an opportunity to be the player that he knows that he is for the Las Vegas Raiders.
B
Viral spiral number one. Diego Pavia went undrafted in the 2026 NFL Draft, the first Heisman Trophy finalist to do so since Jordan lynch in 2014. And Diego has also not signed with any NFL team or elsewhere as an undrafted free agent either.
A
Oh, ho, ho, ho. Hold on one second. This news, you got breaking news. This news just came in. Diego Pavia just agreed to go to rookie minicamp with the Baltimore Ravens.
B
Shut up. Yes, with the Ravens.
A
Baltimore Ravens, yes.
B
Okay, well, thanks for that news. Hope he does amazing and well and everything works out for him. But why do you think teams are so scared to pick Diego Pavia?
A
Yeah, I think teams were not afraid to pick Diego Pavia. I think what comes with Diego Pavia is not what teams are looking for out of their backup quarterback.
B
Okay, what is that?
A
All right, so Diego goes to Vanderbilt, balls out. Right. Leads them to a 10 win season. Think the first they've ever had. Many people even know Vanderbilt had a football program before Diego Pavia.
B
I didn't need him.
A
Right. He completed 70% of his passes, 29 touchdowns. He also ran for over 700 yards. Okay. But through this draft process, the word from NFL scouts was that Diego Pavia, when asked how would you adjust to a Quarterback 2 role, his answer was, I'm coming in to be the starter. And that's a great mindset to have. I don't know how.
B
You gotta have that mindset.
A
You gotta have that mindset as a quarterback. Only one guy gets to play.
B
Yeah.
A
So for Pavi to say that they're looking at him from a standpoint of does he have transferable traits to the NFL? He's five, nine. Everyone's seen the pictures at the Heisman. He is not tall, but he is a great football player. And sometimes great football players get Lost in the shuffle when it comes to the NFL draft. Because if I'm a scout sitting in that room and I say to myself, I'm putting all my marbles on the 59 guy, despite what history tells me, history tells me the 59 guy probably isn't going to be a Super bowl winning quarterback. History tells me the 59 guy probably isn't going to have a 20 year career. That's what history says. But sometimes history is wrong.
B
Got to rewrite it.
A
And Diego Pavia has to take that mindset into wherever he goes. He, he has to show the humility that he didn't show after the Heisman ceremony. Yeah, he has to show the humility that he didn't show when he went on Jon Gruden's quarterback camp. That in my opinion, the podcasts, the, the, the wrestling events, the UFC events, the, the partying and the celebration of it all, that is why NFL team said, yeah, we don't want that guy to be our backup. So if there was a guy that's secure in his starting position and what he does and who he is, it's Lamar Jackson, of course. So if Diego Pavia gets an opportunity to sign on there in Baltimore, he's not going to shake the ground that Lamar Jackson is walking on. No, but he also has to understand that he's going into an environment where he's not the guy. And I don't think he's had to deal with that in quite some time.
B
Viral spiral number two. Avion Terrell got drafted to the Falcons in round two, pick 48. Forming a brother reunion with the fellow corner, A.J. terrell Jr. In Atlanta. Let's watch their reaction to the news.
A
So Avion terrell, brother of A.J. i mean, what a moment this is at the family event. Look where they're from. Atlanta, Georgia. Oh, this is great. Teammates, brothers, everybody else celebrating because it's one less brain time for them to try to have to maybe split up on Sundays. Right. They just go to one place now. Don't have to wear a split jersey, just one jersey.
B
How cool is it to play with your brother in the NFL?
A
Well, I wouldn't know because I don't have any brothers. I've got two older sisters. But it would seem that it would be one of the coolest things in the world, especially if you're Avion Terrell and that's your older brother who you've been looking up to your entire life. And now they actually have an opportunity to have Terrell island on both sides of the Field like Avion can shut down one side. AJ Terrell Jr. Can shut down the other side. And that, to me, would be one of the coolest things ever. You rarely get to see two brothers play together, let alone play together in their prime at a position that they're both dominant at. That's got to be the coolest feeling in the world. I'm very excited for the Terrell brothers. They're not the only brothers that got to get a chance this year to play together either. Spencer Fanu and his brother Logan Fanu are going to be playing with the Cleveland Browns together as well. The Browns signed Logan, the defensive end from Utah, as an undrafted rookie free agent, and they're both going to Cleveland together. So that.
B
That the.
A
The brotherly love is. Is paying off. The Mannings, the Kelsey's, the. What are the. The McCordys. Now you got the. The Fanos, and obviously the Terrells. This is. This is pretty cool.
B
That's so good for the feminist because you only have to have one last name behind the jersey, but they're just a different number, you know?
A
Exactly.
B
That's awesome. Viral spiral number three. USC's wide receiver Makai Lemon got drafted to the Eagles with the 20th pick. Now, he was trending and going viral for multiple reasons this week.
A
You know, I put a tweet up about this, and I talked about the three things that I thought really showed themselves in Makai Lemon's reaction. One, you talked about it's the support of your family, the support of. Of the people in your corner, never giving up on you, even when at times you might give up on yourself. And nothing can can top that coming from mom and dad. They gave birth to you. They want to see you. Yes. They gave birth to you.
B
The mom gave birth.
A
They gave birth to you. Thanks to the tango. And they want to see you succeed, but they also have unconditional love.
B
Right.
A
I also thought it was really cool to see a young man in this new generation show a vulnerable side of himself. A lot of people say this guy's soft. Whatever. No, no, no. To be able to showcase that emotion and say thank you for being there for me is huge in today's age because it has been frowned upon so much. So I thought it was an incredible message from his parents. But I also thought the vulnerability that he showed will go a long way in him being a great teammate, a great player, a great father, a great husband. You need that, and men need to see that. And that's okay because real men do cry.
B
Absolutely. And I think he. Everything you just said, he fully went to the other side with that on the pre. In the post when he got drafted on the stage and he gave the little interview and he also went viral for that and the Eagles fans were just eating it up, loving it. So in one clip, he's shown such vulnerability of himself and the other ones he's showing the city what they gonna get. So that was awesome. But that was not still it for Makai.
A
11.
B
He was also caught in between two teams that were trying to draft him at the exact same time. So let's watch this. Come on, man. Let's go.
A
Hey, watch phil big. Just treated. This is Philly. He just treated.
B
Phil's taking you right now. Okay. What do you think of this situation with Maai Lemon, with the Eagles and the Steelers?
A
Well, guess what? If you're the Steelers, man, you got to put a ring on it. That. Isn't that what Beyonce said? Like it. Then you got to put a ring on it. You do that. If you see that he won it. Well, guess what? The Steelers. Close enough. It was close enough. I don't. I don't think those are the exact lyrics, but I mean, who. Who knows? I'm not a part of the beehive, so I guess I get a pass there, right? Anyway, if you're the. The Pittsburgh Steelers, they knew who they wanted. The Eagles said, even though you want him, we are going to make a trade to go get him. Makai is literally on the phone with the Steelers.
B
With the Steelers. Yeah.
A
He said, hey, why. Why the Eagles call me? I've never been in this situation, but I'm sure there's been some people out there who've been in that situation where they got to pick between one or the other. And Makai didn't have a choice. The Eagles wanted him so bad, and. And to me, it was. It just shows you just how great of a gm in my opinion, High Roseman is. He kn. He knew what he wanted and he wasn't going to allow anything. He didn't. They probably told him, hey, Pittsburgh's on the phone with him right now because they're going to take him. And he was like, don't care. I want him. I know what I want. I'm going to go put a ring on it right now and select him before the Steelers even know what hits him. And I know right now Steelers fans are in shambles. Absolutely absolute shambles, because that's how great of a player Maman is.
B
But viral spiral number four, Navy walk On Eli Heiderich had an emotional seventh round call from the Pittsburgh Steelers. Let's watch that.
A
The Pittsburgh Steeler select Eli Heidenreich. Running back Navy. This guy is more than a football player. This is a Captain America, if you ask me.
B
I'm laying out. Listen to this clown.
A
I'm going to tear up right now.
B
This is really, really cool.
A
Le Hreich Steeler. So Eli Heiden Reich has the opportunity that he dreamed of. After getting the opportunity brave to be a. To. To be a midship.
B
What do you think this moment meant for Eli and his family?
A
I mean, it means everything. And also shout out to you on the name pronunciation. That was great. Incredible job.
B
But doesn't get it right. But son doesn't get it wrong. Gotta make sure.
A
But when you look at Eli, Eli Heiderike, you talking about a Pittsburgh native, a former zero star recruit.
B
That's wild, right?
A
The Steelers are hosting the draft and they got their own fairy tale ending in their in round seven.
B
Yeah.
A
Eli Haidaric invited 10 people to the green room, no idea whether or not he's going to get drafted, and they call his name at pick230. That emotion, it. It gets everybody. Yeah, it's a little bit of a tearjerker because for me, being a military brat, having a family that served in the army, it doesn't matter if it's the army, the navy, or whatever it may be. It's respect to all of our service members. Right? So when I look at Eli Heiderich's story, I say to myself, it's about the grind. It's about the grind you put in. Him getting drafted was about so much more than just himself, for sure. It was for all the underdogs out there. It was for every service member who feels like they're forgotten. We want you to know, and Eli certainly wants you to know you're not forgotten. We appreciate all the things you guys do to help us live the life and be free the way that we are. The fact that we can sit here and do this podcast right now is because of people like Eli Heiderich. So I'm always going to be game for showing our service members love. And I think his story of coming from a zero star recruit to getting drafted into the NFL is one that should be getting way more attention.
B
Proof that the stars don't always matter. Viral spiral number five. We keep going with viral spirals today. Yeah, we got a lot. Peter woods, The Chiefs rookie first round pick at number 29, bought his mom and his sister, both Maseratis, right after he got drafted, even though, after taxes, his salary is less than $2.4 million. Now, what do we tell NFL players here that get drafted to the NFL?
A
You gotta say no. People, listen. If it's two $200,000 Maseratis, that's $400,000, okay? You're not getting that money back.
B
But if the Maserati breaks down, that's $159,000 to fix it.
A
So guys have to understand that you want to do right by your parents, you want to do right by your family. But the more you do that before you've actually secured the bag, the sooner you go broke. The mom and the sister, you. What did you. The mom and sister do? What?
B
They should have been the first ones to say, hey, no, no, no, no, no, no, no. Do not do that. Don't do that for us.
A
Like, trust me, I get it. If you ain't never had it. If you've never had it, you. You think you got it now.
B
Yeah.
A
And you think, okay, I'm getting you a house. You a house. You a car. You a car. Hey, my coach back home who did all that stuff for me, I got a car for you, too. And guess what? You're gonna have six cars out there, three houses, and no money.
B
And we're not stupid. We understand he made a good amount of money in Clemson with nil.
A
So he might have.
B
But still, like, at this point, it's the family's job to help this young man out and say, hey, hey, hey. Like, this is not the time to do that. Like, no matter. We understand you love us. We understand you want to give this, this, this, and that to us. But this ain't the way to show love in this moment, because you got to look out for yourself first. And then we can, you know, wait for the second freaking contract.
A
Like, 100. It's all about longevity when it comes to these decisions. Yeah, listen.
B
And it went so viral that I know financial advisors are running to this man right now.
A
They better be. Listen, I've taken care of my family. I bought my mom a house. I've taken. I've done things for my. For my dad and my sisters. The bottom line is, I waited second, third contracts to do that type of stuff because I knew that I first had to secure everything and know what I was spending and how much it was going to cost to pay an agent and know how much it was going to cost to pay taxes and know how much it was going to cost to. To Afford a mortgage on a home or how many. I didn't buy a car till 2017. I didn't buy my first car till 2017. I got drafted in 2012. What we're saying is do not make purchases before you know what you are up against. It sounds good. You see it all the time. The stories go viral, but they don't. They're not coming back to you to see five years later if you don't get a second contract. Hey, how you doing? They'll see you broke on the road and they'll keep driving. You might have a sign, say, need help? Lost all money buying family vehicles and houses. And they can be like, man, should have done that. Well, who was there to tell them? Who was there to tell them that before?
B
Yeah.
A
So we're telling you now. Peter Woods, I think you are the protege to Chris Jones. You're going to be able to go play alongside a defensive tackle who's one of the best I've ever seen. Go learn from him when it comes to playing football. But, man, don't spend all your money before you even get it. Be smarter about that. Your family should be telling you the same thing. And if they're not, they're there for the wrong reasons. I'm not saying your mom and sister are there for the wrong reasons. You offer somebody a car, they gonna take the car.
B
He was going. His family was already going viral before even the Maserati story for the shot of them at the house. It was an all white party. They said his mom wearing a wedding dress and like the video was already going viral. Telling this man, please protect yourself, please get lawyers, please get financial advisors because the party already looked like it was going to be lots of money being spent over there. So. And then the Maserati story came out. So it's just piling on and piling on. So just be smart, you know, Be
A
smart with your money.
B
Yeah.
A
Say no. Do it when it's the right time. And the right time is not when you first get the money. Never is.
B
Yeah.
A
All right, before we get to the next segment, I know you want to go. I just want everyone to know that. Texas camera right here. Look at me. Texas is the king of football. I just want y' all to know that. All right? For the second consecutive year, Texas led the NFL draft and draft picks for 33. Okay, 33 from Texas, 27 from Florida, 22 from Georgia, and 19 from California. So I don't want to hear anybody from any other states talking to me about who the Best state for football is it's Texas. For the last six years, Texas has had the most draft picks.
B
Okay, such a proud Texas wants you
A

B
All right, guys, let's get to the deep end. Which team do you think won the 2026 NFL Draft?
A
Oh, hands down, it was the New York Jets. The New York Jets. I didn't say Giants.
B
I thought you were gonna say the Browns.
A
I didn't say the Browns. I said the New York jets dominated the NFL draft. Okay? The jets last year were 31st in the NFL in sacks. They only had 26. So what did they do? They went and got the best pass rusher in the entire draft in David Bailey. I call him the boogeyman. Not the boogeyman, but duh boogeyman. Because of Davis. It Bailey. You get the point. This man led the country in pressure. Pressure percentage. And he led the country in sacks with 14 and a half. All right, now your your second first round pick. You go get Kenyon Siddiq. Yes, you drafted Mason Taylor last year in the second round. But now you get the most mismatched offensive weapon in the entire draft in Kenyan Sadiq obviously a physical freak, faster than DK Metcalf, can jump higher than, than Michael Jordan, you know, did a broad jump from here to the moon. The guy's incredible. I got to see him play out there at Oregon. But not only that, you then pair those two, two headed monsters with Mason Taylor and Kenyan Sadiq. And then you go get Omar Cooper Jr from Indiana as you trade back into the first round and he's the number one juice man in the draft. What I mean by that big play waiting to happen. You saw his catch against Penn State in the back of the end zone. Man's got twinkle toes in the back of the end zone. But he can also take a five yard completion, 70 yards to the house. So when I look at that, this is how you do a rebuild, okay? You go get players that not only help you this year in your quote unquote bridge year with Gino Smith, as you're waiting to go get your franchise quarterback probably in 27, but these guys also help you for the next decade. That to me is something that not enough people are praising the jets for. But not only that, there's more. They also get d' Angelo Pons in the second round DB from Indiana consistently. Every single receiver said that the number one DB that they faced in college football last year was d' Angelo Pons. Okay, okay, so if they're saying that he's really, really good and now you get him in the second round when he's a first round talent, I mean this is a team that didn't have an interception last season as a, as a, as a team, like I think it's the first time in NFL history you bring in d' Angelo Ponce, who's had seven interceptions in his career. So they consistently got first, they got three first round talents, then they got a fourth first round talent in the second round. And not just that, then they go, they get 6 foot 5, 315 pound defensive tackle Darrell Jackson as a depth piece in the middle of their defense. And then to top it off, one of their favorite picks for me, and you know this was quarterback Kade Kubnick Kate out of Clemson never really got to be what we all thought he was going to be at Clemson. But you take him in the fourth round, it's kind of like a flyer giving him an opportunity to win the QB2 job. And if anything ever happens with Geno and He wins that QB2 job, he's now the guy that's the starter. Well, he can, he can throw the deep ball, he can use his athleticism to make plays. Dude's a state champion in the 400 meter dash, is a sophomore in Texas, three time state champion in Texas. Like he has the pedigree there. If he gets great coaching, he can develop into, I don't know. You know, the way that they built this draft, I think it'll pay dividends for the New York jets for the next decade. Like Wu Tang Financial.
B
Okay. But the Cleveland Browns have been getting absolutely rave reviews for their draft this year. That's why I thought you were gonna pick the Browns. So they selected Spencer Fano out of Utah and KC Concepcion out of Texas A&M in the first round. Then they got wide receiver Denzel Boston out of Washington and safety Emmanuel McNeil Warren out of Toledo in the second round. So did the Cleveland Browns actually have a great 20, 26 NFL Draft?
A
Did they? I mean, I'm shocked too. The Browns had 14 different offensive lineman combinations play at least 10 snaps last year. And then in the off season when they go into free agency, almost all those guys left. All right, so that was the third worst in the NFL to have that many guys playing. So what did they do? They got two tackles in the first three rounds in the draft that can contribute on day one. Utah, Spencer Fano was the first round pick and then Florida's Austin Barber was her third round pick.
B
Well, what about their wide receiver room?
A
Oh, I'm so glad you asked. The Browns wide receiver room was at the bottom of the NFL and receptions, yards and touchdowns. Last year they only scored four touchdowns in the receiver room. So they went and they got two day one starters for Shadur Sanders to grow with in big play machine. Casey Concepcion out of Texas A M and then also big body X receiver Denzel Boston, who is not the son of David Boston in the second round to bolster their receiving core. So when I look at it from that standpoint alone, the Browns are saying we need to protect Shador and we need to give him weapons to throw to. And they did that. That is, that, that alone is a winning draft. Then you throw on top of that, they went and got safety Emmanuel McNeil Warren, who you mentioned, out of Toledo and they got him, I believe in the third round and he was a, he's a first round talent. Again. Some people had this guy going as high as number 10 in the draft. So he's a certified first round talent. He changes your defense with his long rangy ball hawking ability and his contact seeking ability. This draft to me gave the Browns roster a total facelift Was their pick
B
of Taylor Green in the sixth round worth it?
A
That's a tough question, but I think it depends on how they use them.
B
Okay.
A
So if they use them how I think they should, then I think it was worth it. All right. Taylor Green is by far the greatest and most athletic quarterback we have ever seen. By the numbers, fastest 40, fastest, highest, vertical, longest, broad jump, six foot six, you know, and can fly like that. So to me what it screams is we're going to use him in short yarded situations. We're going to put together a red zone package for him so that he can utilize his dual threatability, something that no one else on their roster really can do to his level. Yes, Shadur can, can scramble and he can he and he can move in that, in that regard, Deshaun Watson, when he was in his prime was a true dual threat guy. But none of them are as fast or athletic as Taylor Green is.
B
Yeah.
A
So if Taylor Green can win the backup job, that means he's gonna have to beat out Deshaun Watson. Probably. Right. Cause I don't anticipate in Dylan Gabriel being there. I think they're going to trade Dylan Gabriel, but if he can win the backup job, then you can put that package in for him. But they're not going to put that package in for Taylor green. If he's QB4 or QB3, he won't even be on the, he'll be on the practice squad. So it just, it's worth it if he can win the backup quarterback job. And now you can go into the season and say, let's utilize this guy in certain situations to get the most out of his talent. Otherwise, yes, I agree with you. Then the pick's not truly worth it. But I think they're looking at Taylor Green as a true developmental guy, not a guy that they think is going to challenge Shadira Sanders or even DeSean Watson to be the starting quarterback.
B
The New York Giants have been praised but also criticized for their 2026 NFL Draft. And wide receiver Malik Neighbors even came out and poo pooed on their first round selection of linebacker or Valerie out of Ohio State. Did the Giants win or lose the 2026 NFL Draft?
A
Day one. Come on, let's listen. You play the division where you got Jalen Hurts, Jaden Daniels and Dak Prescott.
B
Yep.
A
You can never have too many pass rushes when you got those guys to go up against. So now they have Arvl Reese, Abdul Carter, Kayvon Thibodeau for a little bit and Brian Burns. That gives them positional versatility. ARVL Reese can play 6, 7. He can play in the box on the ball. He's a raw pass rusher. You heard him all offseason talking about he hadn't even really practiced a lot of this stuff. He's just out there playing ball. And to me, that positional versatility is exactly what John Harbaugh loves in his defense. He's coming over from the Ravens.
B
I still can't believe that coach is John Harbaugh.
A
Yeah, he's coming over from the Ravens. They improved their offensive line with Francis, Maui Onu, Maui Noah. Yes, Francis, Maui Noah of Miami. He can play guard, he can play tackle. He helps stabilize that offensive line to protect Jackson and dart. And when I look at that, it's like, Malik, neighbors, do your thing, boo boo. Talk about whatever you want to talk about. But John Harbaugh in that front office, they're going to continue to stockpile defensive talent because they know the offenses that they have to slow down.
B
But okay. Did you like the direction of the rest of their draft?
A
Yeah, I loved it. I loved it. They. They drafted cornerback Colton Hood out of Tennessee. Right. If you guys don't remember, Colton was the one of the dominant corners at Colorado, learned under Deion Sanders. Um, this guy again. Another staple for drafting at a high level is finding guys in rounds that they should not be in. Colton Hood, in many people's accounts, was a top 20 draft pick this year, and they got him in the second round. He's got an incredible knack for attacking the ball at the catch point. Why? Because he knows he has the speed to recover if he ever does get beat deep. But he also has great ball skills. He's not a guy that catches a lot of interceptions, but he is a guy that knocks down a lot of passes.
B
Okay?
A
So when I look at it from that side, you then go, he's okay. We improve the cornerback room. What about wide receiver? We need some more big plays. Boom. In walks, Malachi Fields out of Notre Dame. Big play waiting to happen. The catches on this guy's highlight tape, you know, would rival almost anybody. That's the kind of player he is. And the one pick that I actually absolutely love from the Giants was the sixth round flyer. They took on Jack Kelly.
B
Okay?
A
Now, Jack Kelly went to byu. I'm an honorary BYU alumni. Alumni. You know, we love. We love byu. The Cougars, you know, they're doing a great job. But Jack Kelly is a player who, very similar to Arvl Reese, can play in the box and can also play down to the line of scrimmage with his hand in the dirt. He was wreaking havoc in the Big 12. So at a minimum, that six round pick on Jack Kelly is going to give you a special teams monster. And if he's able to develop, he can become a rotational guy or even a starter on the defense within the next three years because that's how talented of a player that he is. So when I look at the Giants and the way they're building, we talked about the Jets.
B
Yep.
A
I thought they killed it. All right. But when I talk about the Giants and the way they're building their roster, they're building with John Harbaugh like he used to build the Ravens.
B
Yeah.
A
Trenches first. An aggressive mindset. That is their blueprint.
B
All right, let's talk about the Washington Commanders.
A
Who?
B
The Washington Commanders made a splash drafting Sonny Styles out of Ohio State in the first round. Do you think the Washington Commanders did enough in the draft to help Jaden Daniels get back on track?
A
I don't, I don't think so. Because the biggest indicator for the Commanders this year, their success is not going to be about anyone they brought in in free agency. It's not going to be about anyone that they drafted. It's going to be about Jaden Daniels health.
B
Yeah.
A
So if Jaden Daniels is healthy, the Commanders can turn it around. But I do believe they did a great job using their pick to fill some of the holes in their roster.
B
Okay.
A
For example, Washington, last year, they gave up six yards per play. That's horrible. All right, as a defense, yes, Bobby Wagner had 162 tackles, but the defense as a whole was one of the oldest in the NFL and they desperately needed to get younger. All right, so first round pick Sonny Styles, he, he, he marks all that off. He is a day one starter.
B
All right.
A
Instant starter. An absolute dog. Used to play safety but now plays linebacker. He fits Dan Quinn's system and his desire to have versatile linebackers and Styles in coverage. Only allowed one touchdown over the last two years. So on top of that, then what do you do? Well, we got a little bit of hole at wide receiver as well. Third round they go and get Antonio Williams out of Clemson. All right, slot maestro, as I like to call him, he's a chain mover. He'll be a chain move for Jaden Daniels. He's a ball magnet. Catches a lot of passes and he's extremely, extremely productive after the catch. 331 of his 604 yards. Last year at Clemson came after the catch. That's. That means, hey, I can get this guy the ball short and he can take it long.
B
Yep.
A
He's so crafty with his routes. You would think this dude was Mac and cheese.
B
Okay, what did you think of the Commanders taking Catron Allen in the sixth round?
A
At first I was like, why? But then I thought, you know, this is actually pretty smart. The why came from the Commanders are pretty crowded at running back. They got Rashad White, they got Bill Crosby, mayor. They got Jerome Ford, they got Jeremy McNichols. You would think all their set, they brought in two guys, re signed their other two. But Katron Allen, well, you're talking about a guy that if he had been able to come out last year, he probably would have been a second, third round pick. So he's sitting there in the sixth round after scoring 50, 15 touchdowns in the Big Ten.
B
Yeah.
A
Last year. I'm not, I don't mean 15 in his career. I mean this dude had 15 touchdowns last season alone and he broke 30 runs of at least 10 yards. This dude could easily compete to make this roster if any of those guys ahead of him who are veterans slip up. Katrin Allen is a dangerous one to watch. He reminds me a little bit of the scenario that happened around Alfred Morris. They're different players.
B
Okay.
A
Alfred wasn't as explosive as of a runner, but K Tron Allen's coming into a situation where he's got four backs that are all pretty semi established. But he can make that roster. If he gets an opportunity, he's got to go earn it. But that's a pick that I would certainly watch out for.
B
The Baltimore Ravens added O lineman Vega Yoane out of Pentagon State, defensive end Zion Young out of Missouri, and two big time wide receivers in Jacobe Lane out of usc in the third round and Elijah Surat out of Indiana in the fourth round. Do the Baltimore Ravens after the 2026 NFL Draft now have enough to win the Super Bowl?
A
Yes. Yes, the Baltimore Ravens have enough to win the super bowl, but they already had enough before the draft. All right. But first rounder Vega Yane fixes the interior production issues the Ravens had all last year. They could not protect Lamar Jackson to save their life.
B
Yeah.
A
And as a quarterback, especially a dual threat guy, yeah, we can take care of the guys out on the edge because we can make a miss. But whenever you get pressure right in your face and they're stepping on your toes, that's when it becomes extremely difficult to be efficient as an Offense. So Yane's got 32 career starts. He's a pass pro expert and an elite drive blocker in the run game. He's a massive interior upgrade for the Ravens, to say the least. And you know, there was a little bit of concern about the run defense for the Ravens. You bring in Trey Hendrickson. We have all these stats that prove he is a better pass rusher than Max Crosby, but his run game struggles were pretty evident. So what did they do? They went and got defensive end Zion Young out of Missouri that you mentioned. High effort, strong run defender who consistently brings energy in the pass rush game as well. He might have only had six and a half sacks last year. Trust me, I watched him. But he also had 46 pressures. So with great coaching he can convert a lot more of those pressures into sacks, especially with the guys he's going to be playing alongside. But this dude had 26 tackles at or behind the line of scrimmage and 16 run stops last year. So when you talk about that allure of Max Crosby, well, you're not going to get Max Crosby from Zion Young, you're not going to get Max Crosby from Trey Hendrickson. But the two of them combined, if Zion Young picks up on the scheme pretty effectively, can give you the best of both worlds. So you can have that three down ability to stop the run and get after the passer.
B
Do you think Lamar Jackson has enough weapons to throw the ball to?
A
I'm so glad you asked that, because not only does he have enough weapons to throw the football to, they by them drafting Jacoby Lane and Elijah Surat, it gives Lamar two guys who know how to score the football. They're not even starters. Okay. Jacoby Lane should quickly become a major player for the Baltimore Ravens in the red zone.
B
Okay.
A
At 6 foot 4, he's got strong hands. And 11 of his 16 touchdown catches over the past two seasons have come in the red zone. Elijah Surratt caught 15 touchdowns last season alone.
B
Beautiful.
A
He's got strong hands, great body control and he was Fernando Mendoza's go to guy. Back, shoulders, box fades, whatever it was, Elijah Surrat was the man for the job. So you have those two guys that aren't even starters because the Ravens have Rashad Bateman, they've got Walker, they've got Zay Flowers. But those two can become starters if those starters slip up. And isn't it great to have your fourth and fifth receiver have priorly been the number one receiver at Indiana and then the 1B option at USC?
B
Absolutely.
A
That to Me, I'll take that. Sounds like something you want to do. But not just that. I thought the Ravens also did a really good job in the later rounds. They got two versatile tight ends in, Matthew Hibner and Josh Cuevas. They got a power back in Adam Randall, who's a big 230 pound guy. And then I'm intrigued by their draft pick of Chandler Rivers out of Duke. And here's why. He's a tough slot corner. Whenever you think about the Ravens, you think about pressure. You think about the guy coming off the slot.
B
Yeah.
A
You think toughness. What does it mean to play like a Raven? Yeah, this guy embodies that. Seven interceptions, 23 pass breakups in his college career, and I think it's only a matter of time before he finds his way on the field for the Ravens defense. Chance.
B
Okay, let's see what Chandler gotta offer us. The Eagles seem to always have a great off season. Now they drafted wide receiver Makai Lemon out of USC in the first round and a tight end, Eli Sours, out of Vanderbilt in the second round to give Jalen Hurts more weapons. Have we seen the last of A.J. brown with the Eagles?
A
Yes, we have. You don't draft Makai lemon in the first round if you're keeping A.J. brown. The Eagles, they, right now they have more wide receivers than they know what to do with. I don't. I don't know what to. To tell you. Devonte Smith, A.J. brown, Maman Dontavon Wicks, Hollywood Brown, the list goes on. If you look at their, their depth chart, it is deep, all right. But the Eagles look to me like they're poised to slide Devonte Smith into the A.J. brown role and move Makai Lemon into the slot where he can dominate with his toughness, his speed, and using his yak ability to take some pressure off of Jaylen. Hurts. Right. If. If I can throw a five yard completion and you can go get me 25 or I can throw a seven yard completion and you can go get Me 30, that's going to make me as a quarterback feel a whole lot better. And that's part of this offense that the Eagles have been missing in Maai Lemon. He completely fixes that. The Eagles also got the successor to Dallas Goddard. Goddard's 31. I'm not retiring him. He might play for another 10 years. I don't know. But Eli Stowers, at 6 foot 5 running a 451 4, he is an instant mismatch. So whether Goddard decides to play one year, five years, or two years, you have Stowers there to learn from him. And he is a true vertical threat who can stretch the defense and open up even bigger holes for the rest of these wide receivers. But on top of that, you want to talk about the successor of successors for the great 35 year old lane Johnson at left tackle. The Eagles know that they don't know how many more years they have left with him. So they went and got tackle out of Miami Markel Bell in the third round. Now you would say. Why would you say a third round pick is a successor when Lane Johnson was a first round pick? Well, if Lane decides to play four more years, Markel Bell is going to be over there as a swing tackle adding depth to that offensive line. But he has an opportunity to learn from one of the greatest we've ever seen at the position. And this is why to me, Howie Roseman continues to show why he is the greatest GM in the business. He doesn't just draft for now, he also drafts for the future while keeping his team in super bowl contention. And they will be in super bowl contention with or without A.J. brown if they keep A.J. brown, my lord. But if they don't, they have a receiving core that respects Jalen hurts, that understands what he needs and they're great pieces to play off of each other.
B
I know you 31 and 35 is not old by any stretch of the imagination, but do you feel like the guys that are now playing in the NFL are playing into like later, later in the 30s, early 40s? More and more often?
A
I think at the quarterback position they are.
B
Oh yeah, for sure.
A
At quarterback, punter and kicker. 100%.
B
What about the running back?
A
Like no, no, no, no, no.
B
Earlier running.
A
Running back is just, it's one of the most wear and tear positions in the entire NFL.
B
That's why I'm asking because I feel like running backs normally already retire in their 20s.
A
Yeah, I mean some of them have been retiring in their 20s. It's probably the, the, the, the soonest retired position.
B
Okay.
A
Offensive linemen are starting to play longer. You remember Joe Thomas played for a really, really long time. Obviously Lane Johnson's playing for a long time. Trent Williams is playing for a really, really long time. So I think your quarterbacks, your punters and kickers are certainly the longest.
B
When you take Travis Kelsey, right, like everybody thought, okay, he's going to be retiring and do dude signs another three year contract.
A
Yeah, I mean I don't think he's gonna play another three years. I think that's more of cap Manipulation. But a guy like Travis Kelce, who is so accomplished, only can play for as long as he can because of his relationship with Patrick Mahomes.
B
Makes sense.
A
You know, if Travis Kelce was. Was named John Smith, I don't think anyone would have gave him a three year contract.
B
Dang.
A
But because Travis Kelsey is such an accomplished player and because he has a rapport with the starting quarterback, that, that's his security blanket. That's why you pay him and you allow him to continue to play for as long as he wants. Just like Rob Gronkowski.
B
Yep.
A
Oh, yeah, he retired. And then guess what? He ends up in Tampa Bay because of his relationship with Tom Brady, not just simply because of his talent. So that's a random question. We've seen. We've seen all these things happen. I think this NFL season is going to be unbelievable. The draft was the spectacle that it's always been. It came up with so many different viral moments.
