Its another Remote broadcast for Pace The Nation! This week Chris is on site at the expo for the Marine Corps Marathon. Its the day before race day, and Chris is on the expo floor with 2 ultra marathoning professional athletes: Kyle Curtin and JP Giblin. Kyle an Army Veteran and JP a Navy Veteran currently run for Altra on their elite ultra marathoning team. Kyle and JP are in town to promote Altra as the footwear brand is in its first year of sponsorship of the Marine Corps Marathon. Chris talks to the guys about their weekend in DC and all the running around (literally) they've been doing. They also both talk about their path into Ultra running and the successes they've had over the years. Kyle a top 10 finish at Western States and JP winning the 2023 Leadville 100. The show finishes talking about the great partnership they have with Altra and their love/respect for all the Military (and other runners!) who are participating in MCM this weekend.

This week on Pace The Nation: a remote broadcast from Relay! Chris and Julie sit down with Patton Gleason the CEO and founder of Relay. Relay is a new company that repurposes shoes that are returns or excess inventory. Patton and Julie talk to Chris about how Relay works with both the vendor and retail partners - explaining the benefits and wins for everyone involved. This podcast is on location at the Relay Shoe Lab in Richmond VA!

Julie and Chris are both back in studio for the first EVER collaboration podcast with "Be the Impact" Podcast. Before they get to their guest, they start the show talking about Julie's triumphant Half Marathon effort at the DC Half. You be the judge if she feels good about it or not. Chris and Julie agree that the race was an amazing experience and a great day for runners in DC. The guest this week is Bill Johnston, the Co-Founder and President of Recover Brands. Recover Brands is a unique apparel brand from North Carolina that manufactures apparel out of 100% recycled materials. Recover is also a partner in this years Marine Corps Marathon. Julie, Chris, and Bill talk about Recover Brands humble beginnings in 2010 to now in 2023 where they are sponsoring and building apparel for one of the country's largest marathons. Bill explains the process of making the apparel and shares his mission driven approach to business. The podcast ends with a random Zodiac signs reference and Julie and Chris teasing their next show.

This week Farley is flying solo. The opening conversation focuses on 2 running news stories that made mainstream headlines. First the story of Noah Lyles calling out the NBA for calling their NBA Finals the "World Champs". Then the talk is of the marathon in Mexico City that DQ'ed 11,000 runners for cutting the course. Farley is then joined by Hilary Biggs the Race Director for the DC Half. The DC Half Marathon is September 17th, and has had record sign ups. Hilary talks about her journey from working in Sports in DC 20+ years ago to now where she is putting on one of the largest Half Marathons in the DC area. In her first ever podcast, Hilary nails it!

Julie and Chris are back in studio for another episode of PTN! This week the hosts dive back into some hard hitting personal life discussions (Chris can't wait for the kids to go back to school, Julie does all the planning around the house) - and Chris continues to be amazed how much work there is to do to just get the kids organized for their activities. Typical... They are joined this week by the new head coach of the Atlanta Track Clubs elite team, Tommy Nohilly! Tommy is a New Yorker that is heading down south to run the mid distance track program for the club. Julie and Chris go down memory lane with Nohilly, talking to him about his career as a runner and all the coaching stops he's had along the way - including being a coach for Julie at the NJNY Track club in the 2010's. They finish the show with some optimism that the podcast is, in fact, back!!

PTN is back! Finally. Julie and Chris record from Clarendon for the 1st podcast of 2023. The hosts talk about where they have been, what they've been doing, and why it's taken so long to get back to recording a show. They are joined in studio by Tinoda Matsatsa, a High School star runner. Tinoda was the first African American runner to break 4 minutes in the mile. He also holds the 3rd fastest 800m time ever in the history of High School Running. Julie and Chris talk to Tinoda about his upcoming U20 national meet that is happening in Eugene Oregon. They close the show with the results from that race and a promise to be back in 2 weeks.

This week Farley is on location at the Georgetown Pacers Running store interviewing Author and Running Influencer, Alison Desir! Alison starts the show by reading a chapter from her new book: Running While Black. She tells a story of running from Harlem to Washington DC for the Women's March in 2017. Throughout the conversation we tease stories from her new book. In addition, we talk about the issues in running for minorities. The lack of diversity in running has been overlooked for years. Alison is leading the way in trying to change that. Its a lively discussion that ends with audience questions.

Julie is back! We quickly catch up with the co-host who has been away from the show for a month. After getting reacquainted, we set the stage for our guest running videographer, Johnny Pace. Johnny joins us to talk about his new short film that he did for Pacers Running, Cooper. We discuss how both Julie and Chris got to know Johnny. We talk about the story of Pace Photo, the business he is growing in this running space. Johnny also talks about balancing a full time job while doing content creation all over the country. We discuss how he is a professional with a nomadic life that is possible now in the world we live in. Julie and Chris throughout the interview fight over who was more meaningful to Johnny's development. We close the show with a family story that might be more typical than it should be in the Farley household.

This week Farley is back in Studio 1A and he is joined by Arlingtonian Ultra marathoning legend Mike Wardian. Chris is Mike reminisce about the good old days of the Pacers Racing team in the late 90s and Mike's journey to join the team. We spend the bulk of the interview talking about Mikes Run across America this past summer. A run that was inspired by the Movie Forrest Gump. Mike raised over $100,000 for World Vision! We end the show talking about the DC Half marathon and what an amazing experience it was.

Karen Merlin the Marketing and Communication manager for UTMB and Steve Doolan, VP of Global Commercial Strategy/Sports Marketing at Hoka join Farley for this weeks episode of Pace The Nation. We start with Karen to talk about the amazing week that was UTMB in Chamonix, France. Farley and Karen talk about his experience (as a spectator) and what to expect from UTMB for the other races they have on their calendar. We also talk about the partnership with UTMB and Hoka. Next, Farley talks with Steve Doolan from Hoka. Steve dives in further with us about the partnership with UTMB and Hoka. We also talk about his role at the brand and how Hoka as seen incredible growth over the past few years. We end the conversation with Farley being fascinated with Steves ability to speak fluent French.
