A federal judge just apologized in open court to Cole Allen — the man accused of trying to assassinate President Donald Trump and his team at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner. U.S. Magistrate Judge Zia M. Faruqui told the 31-year-old suspect he was “sorry” for the harsh conditions in D.C. jail, including suicide watch and solitary confinement. Allen, who allegedly showed up armed and fired shots at Secret Service, received an apology while many January 6 defendants have faced far worse for far less.
