The business I'd been about to start lived in my head for two years. But last night I finally bought the domain on Wix. Took me 90 seconds and suddenly it was real. I even used WIX Harmony, wix's AI website builder, to create a full website in minutes. Didn't even have to stress about security, privacy or any of that technical stuff. It all came included. That's two years of stalling, one night of progress. Don't wait like I did. Go to wix.com domains with the all new Audi Q3.
Audi Q3 Advertiser
The answer's always yes. Yes to adventure. Yes to escape. Yes to right now. The all new Audi Q3. Made for the yes life.
Mike Florio
All right, Pain and pender gas with you. All right, so we won't reset the entire Rossini getting out of a ticket story. We've played it multiple times. She claims it. She the officer that pulled her over. They got into a conversation about the NFL. He claimed he was a fan of a team that was not the jets or the Giants or the Buffalo Bills. And then she FaceTimed the coach of that team with the cop.
Peter King
Like that's what she claimed.
Mike Florio
She claimed that in a story that she told on the Stugot show on Radio Row at the Super Bowl. As it turns out, the body cam footage surfaced yesterday of this particular traffic stop back on January 19th. And as it turns out, yes, parts of her story were true. She did get into a conversation with the police officer about football. Turns out his favorite team was the Vikings. So let's play this one, Ben. Where? Where Rossini the last Racini here. Where she shows the text from Kevin o'. Connell. She says, oh, you're a Vikings fan? Well, hold on a second. Gets out her phone, opens up, either texts or DMS or something like that, and shows it to the cop.
Ben
Let's see it.
Mike Florio
Oh, my God.
Ben
Koc.
Guest / Caller
See what I said?
Mike Florio
Look what I said to him though, just now. Go to the bottom. Oh, my God.
Ben
Wow. Pretty cool. Yeah, he Seems like a. Dude.
Mike Florio
Your quarterback sucks.
Peter King
KOC is awesome, but their quarterback sucks.
Mike Florio
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Peter King
He said their quarterback, right? Yeah.
Mike Florio
I thought she kind of said you're. I don't know. Yeah. Either way, we know who she's talking about.
Peter King
Yeah. Yeah. So which. Yeah. J.J. mcCarthy now becomes a part of the scandal. Yeah.
Mike Florio
The web of Rossini knows no bounds.
Peter King
Everybody's being drawn. Let me ask you this. So.
Guest / Caller
Right.
Peter King
Rossini was lying about the FaceTime part of it.
Mike Florio
Yes.
Peter King
As somebody. AJ Perez says. So Rossini lied about doing something journalistically unethical. She can't catch a break.
Mike Florio
Well, that's the thing. We didn't point that out before. The Athletic has commented on this entire story now that she's been telling. And they. She's. She's gone now. She resigned.
Peter King
It's a. Yeah, they say it's a violation of her journalistic privilege to use it for her own personal gain. Like that.
Mike Florio
Yes.
Peter King
But she was lying about the FaceTiming part. It was. So she was. She did something journalistically unethical and then lied about it in the retelling. In the retelling of it. Which. And again, I know we talked about this earlier. Okay. Like, you tell tall tales or whatever. You embellish when you're telling a story to make it more interesting. I think it's a. It's a different standard when you're a journalist where people are relying on you for facts. So it's like it's a pattern of either embellishing or lying or whatever that just looks worse and worse for.
Ben
Yeah.
Mike Florio
Because she concocted an entire conversation that they had on the. On this FaceTime that never happened. Like, he said this, and the cop said this, and then the coach said this. Like, okay, we now know it didn't happen. It's because the body cam footage shows the entire traffic stop, including the dead time where the officer was writing the ticket. There's no pause in this thing where,
Peter King
you know, he's writing up whatever he is writing up. Give her a ticket.
Mike Florio
Yeah.
Peter King
Right. Yeah, he was.
Mike Florio
Yeah, he was just doing his administrative work.
Chumba Casino Announcer
So.
Mike Florio
This is the cop cutting Rossini a break.
Ben
Listen, I'm going to cut you a break on the cell phone. I understand your job requires you to be on the phone a lot. Just try to wait till you get home. Okay. And, yeah, keep me updated with the Vikings. Okay. Let me know if KLC is going to get a new quarterback in. Of course. All right, ma'.
Chumba Casino Announcer
Am.
Ben
Take care.
Mike Florio
Okay. I'll credit Rossini with this she had that cop eating out of her hands. She. She played a name drop perfectly well.
Peter King
You know, the thing about Rossini is she does have a. She has a. An engaging personality.
Mike Florio
She's got charisma.
Peter King
She's got a lot of charm.
Mike Florio
Yep.
Peter King
You know, you might look at her and be like, why is Rabel risking it all for. For Rossini? She's got a certain. Or she's got aura is what she's got. Sean.
Ben
Kids.
Peter King
She's got aura.
Guest / Caller
Kids.
Mike Florio
Does Diana Rossini have aura? I think she has two. No, I think she. I think. And she did the impressive thing because some people are. Some people are equating this to a do you know who I am? Situation, which we've seen other people do.
Peter King
She did it.
Mike Florio
She did it. Do you know who I am? In the most deft way possible, which was bringing up her job.
Peter King
It was all part of. Yeah. It was a natural flow of conversation. It wasn't like. It wasn't. She wasn't trying to present it as a quid proud.
Wix User / Advertiser
No.
Peter King
You know, she wasn't like, hey, I'm this. I'm this person and you should let me off because I'm somebody important. She didn't even say, it'll work out for you. Somewhere down the road.
Mike Florio
She didn't even say her name when she got pulled over. Said, I'm an NFL writer and Sean McDermott just got fired and I'm trying to break the story.
Peter King
Yeah.
Mike Florio
So I think there was a twofold thing there. I think, One, she was explaining herself. Two, I think there's part of her like, oh, if this cop's a football fan, I've got it. I got him.
Peter King
Can I say one thing? That if this had gone a slightly different direction, how awesome it would have been if he was a Patriots fan. The. That.
Mike Florio
Then, then.
Peter King
Then that would have been the best.
Mike Florio
Well, she would at least been telling the truth, because I guarantee you that there would have been a FaceTime.
Peter King
She would have.
Mike Florio
FaceTime.
Peter King
Yeah. Yeah. I don't know. She was probably going to keep upping the ante as long as it took for as much as it took. And we giving what's been alleged about Diana Rossini. Who knows how far the ante would have gone in this situation.
Ben
Yeah.
Mike Florio
My. I tried to guess this. I went through this exercise of trying to guess who it was, and then literally five minutes later, the tweet with the body cam footage comes out.
Peter King
Yeah. Look, a lot of people had ruled people out.
Mike Florio
Yeah.
Peter King
Certain coaches out. Had you ruled out Kevin O'? Connell.
Mike Florio
I had ruled out. Ruled out Kevin o'. Connell. And again, I'm just handicapping it here. I know that there's a good chance. Obviously, I got. I ended up getting it wrong. This is how I eliminated.
Peter King
It was nobody at all because you're working on bad information.
Mike Florio
Well, no, no.
Peter King
But.
Mike Florio
But, no. Well, it was. But. No, I'm on who the cop's favorite team was. The coach was.
Peter King
Right, Right. No, but I'm saying is that it was all. All of your speculation was based on a false story, so that some of the things that you're doing to, like, some people. Were you, like, was the team still in the race because she said she called the coach at his office.
Mike Florio
No, I get it. But it was still truthful that the cop had a favorite team and coach. That's what I was trying to determine. Yeah, that was still truthful. Right. It was Minnesota, he said. So I was. That's what I was trying to figure out, like, independent of facetimes and texts or whatever, like, who. Who could this cop's favorite team have been? And so I. We eliminated. We did. What Florio did. I did with Florio did. I eliminated all the. The job openings. Yeah, I bet on what Florio did, and I eliminated the west coast guys, even though that's probably not super smart, but I did, you know, because of the time of day. It was at 9.
Peter King
Yeah, gotcha.
Mike Florio
It was at 9 in the morning. I'm just trying to, you know, play the odds here. I then eliminated the teams that I thought there would be little chance that a Jersey cop would root for.
Peter King
Oh, okay.
Mike Florio
So, like, Cincinnati, Indy, Houston, Denver, mostly based on geography, Midwest teams, Florida teams, things like that. I then eliminated coaches who haven't been head coaches long enough to have gotten caught in the web of Rossini, which would be Liam Cohen in Jacksonville was only a head coach for one year.
Peter King
Yeah.
Mike Florio
Ryan Schottenheimer just finished his first year, and Ben Johnson just finished his first year. I think she's above engaging with offensive coordinators and whatnot.
Peter King
Yeah.
Mike Florio
So. So. So I eliminated them. I also eliminated coaches who would not have the get out of a ticket charisma. That's probably where the FaceTime comes in here, because. Yeah, like. Like Dan Quinn and Matt lafleur don't strike me as guys who would be able to woo a cop into giving into. Into eliminating a ticket.
Peter King
So where did you eliminate. You eliminated Minnesota based on the Midwest.
Mike Florio
Based on the geography. Yeah, it's.
Peter King
Where'd you eliminate d'? Ameco? Based on which project?
Mike Florio
Geography. Yeah, geography. Yeah.
Peter King
Miko also just doesn't like, d' Amigo doesn't play that game at all like other NFL. And I'm not saying like it's a good thing or a bad thing. I just says some coaches just flat out don't want to play that game. The media insider game.
Mike Florio
Yeah.
Peter King
And. And I. I think I. I would not be surprised if Amico doesn't have a relationship with any reporter.
Mike Florio
Yeah.
Peter King
Like Rossini or otherwise like that. Like, like kind of a personal texting.
Mike Florio
I was left with Andy Reid, who I left in there because he used to coach in Philly. And I thought this cop, you know, being up in the Northeast, might be a Philly fan.
Peter King
Yeah.
Mike Florio
Which also left Nick Sirianni. And I also have John Harbaugh in there, even though he had just been hired by the Giants. I have John Harbaugh in there too, so. So those are the three that I come up with in my mind. The most likely to win. Turns out it was Kevin o'.
Guest / Caller
Connell.
Peter King
It's Kevin o'. Connell. Except it wasn't Kevin o'. Connell. It was. Yeah, I, like. I don't know. I just. I give everybody a pass on like trying to make any. Like you said you eliminated some of the west coast teams just based on the fact that the story was that you're like. That she was FaceTiming them at the office.
Mike Florio
Yeah, that's true.
Peter King
6:00am or whatever.
Mike Florio
Yeah.
Peter King
So it was just like. It was like any speculation whatsoever, you're dealing with false information.
Guest / Caller
Sure.
Mike Florio
Yeah. Again, I'm just. I was just trying to figure out who the cops favorite team was and.
Peter King
Yeah, I don't know. I just. There's so many people that have just weird, like weird fandoms for random teams.
Mike Florio
Totally. Yeah. Yeah.
Peter King
The kid that was a Seahawks fan for God knows what reason.
Mike Florio
Absolutely.
Peter King
No, it didn't make any sense at all.
Mike Florio
No handicap is. Is 100%. I was just handicapping the whole thing. Yeah.

Honestly, I put off building a website way longer than I should have. Then I tried WIX Harmony and it was way easier than I expected. I just described what I wanted and I had an incredible looking website. The best part, I could change anything myself or ask my AI agent for help. I had everything my business needed right there. So if you've been procrastinating, this is your sign. Start building a website for free@wix.com harmony.
Mike Florio
But you gave out some good advice earlier to people, Seth, for those that weren't listening earlier, because you and I were talking off the air and I was stunned at a few. I was stunned that 44% of people get out of tickets.
Peter King
You look that up, 44% of traffic stops result in a warning.
Mike Florio
Yeah.
Peter King
Give or take. Based on one article that I.
Mike Florio
Right, right, right. So I asked you, what percentage have you gotten out of? Because I estimate that I've gotten out of maybe a third of mine.
Peter King
Yeah.
Mike Florio
Which I think is pretty good. Until I heard that 44% and I'm like, God, I must be a jerk. And then I hear that you estimate that you've gotten out of 90% of the tickets or your, your traffic stops.
Peter King
Yeah, I used to keep. I had a running tally for a long time because I had an incredible streak going where I'd gotten out of like six or seven in a row. With each ensuing stop, my wife would grow more disgusted with how effective I was at evading the law. And yet this is the biggest thing.
Mike Florio
It never got that bad. You're at 90%.
Peter King
There was never. There was no evasiveness about. Was just there's a few key things you can do and there's one that people, they hear me say this and they don't believe it and they don't abide by it. And that's where they get. Where they, where they get screwed over. What were the. Did you write down the.
Mike Florio
No, I didn't write them down.
Peter King
No, no, no.
Mike Florio
I was going to ask you if I could recite them to show that I was listening intently earlier so I could get better. The big one that you said at first was pull all the way over to the right as far as possible to keep it safe for the police officers. Yeah, that's number one. Number two is, I think you said, like, when they come up to the car, like, you know, have your hands on like 10 and 2.
Peter King
Yeah. Be sure that the windows are down, the lights are on, your hands are on the steering wheel.
Mike Florio
Yep.
Peter King
Yeah.
Mike Florio
The one, one of the things you said was when you get asked to produce your license and registration.
Guest / Caller
Yeah.
Mike Florio
It's okay to look in the glove box to go fish for those things. If you're looking at the cop, then it looks like you're fishing for a weapon.
Peter King
Yeah. Yeah. And sometimes people out of nervousness will do that because they're just freaking out and they're. And yeah, look. Yeah, that's exactly what somebody does when they're. When they're looking for a gun while keeping their eye on the target.
Mike Florio
Yep, yep. So that was. That was. I don't know if I have them in the right order, but I know those are three of them. I know another one too was when they ask the question, do you know why I pulled you over?
Peter King
Yeah.
Mike Florio
Try to be as specific and acknowledging your transgression as you can possibly be brutally honest.
Peter King
This is the disarming thing. And I think it might be the key. And it's the one that people, they have to fight against. Because your tendency is to say, I know I was speeding a little bit. And then like, how's like 5 miles per hour over the speed limit? And they're like, actually, you're 15 over and you go, oh. I was like, immediately you're screwed. Then. Yeah, like, all right. Yeah, here, buddy. Yeah. Okay. So like, the key is to be brutally honest about exactly how fast you're going, which does two things. One, it's just one, they don't get that a lot. They don't get people being totally honest. So it kind of like sets you apart all of a sudden. But two, at the very least, it shows that you are paying attention, even if you're. Even if you. And it's okay to sneak in a little bit of an excuse there. I think that's where there's some latitude and you got to read the body language of the guy.
Ben
Yeah.
Peter King
But it's kind of like, you know, I was going with traffic. I was going at 82 miles per hour, and I just, I shouldn't have been. I just kind of got caught up and going with traffic or whatever. But like, don't. That's the other part of it is don't act overly self punishing or make it into a bigger deal than it is. These guys pull over 100 people a day. It's not like you're being tried for murder or something. So, like, just trying to keep everything. Everything about a cop pulling you over has to do with their stress level.
Mike Florio
Yeah.
Peter King
Because they go from a situation where I might be in a dangerous situation here, I have no idea what. And the more at ease you can make them feel and the less, like, remarkable in some ways it is, the better.
Mike Florio
Okay, I need a gut reaction from you. This is an important question. Okay. Of those four things I just named, I think I hit most of what you were giving. Out of those four, the fifth point
Peter King
was try to make friends.
Mike Florio
Try to make friends is the fifth one. Yeah. Okay, so of the five things, try to have the five things pull all the way over to the right as far as possible.
Peter King
Yeah.
Mike Florio
Windows down, hands on steering wheel, lights off. I'm going to put that all as one. Just like number. Number three was. Number. Number three was. Oh, looking. Not making eye contact when you're getting the registration.
Peter King
Yeah.
Mike Florio
With the cop. Number four is what we just talked about, you know, acknowledging your transgression and then number five, being friendly. What is the. What do you think the biggest reason my success rate in getting out of tickets is 60% lower than yours. Which. Which, if you had to guess, which one of those am I most deficient at?
Peter King
If I had to guess with you? You've told me that you pull all the way over to the right. Yeah, right. You've told me that.
Mike Florio
Yeah. Yeah.
Peter King
I think probably the honesty part.
Mike Florio
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Peter King
Just like, Like. Or do you act like, oh, I don't. I didn't realize I was driving that.
Mike Florio
I don't do that. But I. But I don't get, like, I. Yeah, I. Like, I'll acknowledge I was probably speeding, but I don't get aghast when they tell me, no, you were 20. Like, really? I. No, I do, actually. No, I do do that. I don't. I. I'll acknowledge I'm speeding, but you
Peter King
won't say I was going 80.
Mike Florio
I know I won't. If he gives me a number, I do act surprised by that. Like, really? I definitely do that.
Peter King
Yeah. Wow. Really is the equivalent of I've only had a couple of drinks. You know, it's like, all right, yeah, we've heard that a bunch. You know.
Mike Florio
Yeah.
Peter King
To be clear, we got any feedback from cops on this?
Mike Florio
No, I was. Funny. I was going to ask. Yeah. If you're a cop and you're listening,
Peter King
because my suspicion is that that the extreme honesty is the thing that they never hear and that it probably, it probably softens their attitude towards you.
Mike Florio
But if you're a cop and you're listening, give us a shout. All right, last segment coming up, we'll find out what the guys have going on on in the loop. We have not hit this store yet this week, but we hit it a ton throughout the last couple weeks. The latest in the Brendan Sorsby saga is kind of funny to me that we will get to coming up next.
