Really looking for those guys who are on the back end of the roster, seeing them go out and compete for an opportunity to be a part of our team this season. So to see those guys get as many reps as they can handle right and see who's going to show up on game day. We've installed a lot. We've coached up the fundamentals and techniques. Now can they go do it right when the coaches aren't on the field? Nobody's coaching you up after every single play. But can you go out and be a true pro and execute your craft at a high level against different competitions? That's what I'm looking forward to the most.

[Sean]

All right, so d' Ameco Ryan's if we're I don't think you have to read too much into it. It sounds like and he even said later in the press conference he was asked he's like a select. I think he called it. A select group of players will not be playing in this game.

[Seth]

A select group.

[Sean]

Yeah. I would say if you select group

[Seth]

doesn't sound like all the starters.

[Sean]

It doesn't. It does. No, you're right. It does sound a little more exclusive. Select group by he I think he may have just I put it this way. If you're a Texan fan that owns a jersey of any current Texans players, chances are your Guy is not playing in that game.

[Seth]

Right. The will. The guys that I hope are not in that select group of guys who don't play are any of the rookies, including Keelan Rutledge. So Keelan Rutledge, it looks like a slam dunk that as of now, he's the starting center, and I think he needs as many reps as possible, especially with an actual nose tackle in front of him. Um, one of the things that Dalton Schultz said yesterday that was most encouraging, I think. Or was. Was it Dalton or is it Sheldon? I think it was Sheldon Rankins, one of those two veterans, talked about Keelan Rutledge and just how adept he is at making the calls and getting everything right. And like, that part, that's. That was one of the big questions with playing a rookie center is how well is he going to adapt to the mental part of it, Aside from the physical challenge of snapping the ball and blocking NFL players, it's getting everything right mentally. And it looks like the report so far is that he's really good at it.

[Sean]

Well, the fact that we haven't reported on anything mental with him, you know, it is like the. The offensive line, especially the interior, is one of those position groups that tends to be. The less you talk about them, the better they're probably doing, you know, And Rutledge, you see more often than not, like when Rutledge pops out, it's because he's. He goes right to and sometimes through the whistle on plays. Yeah, he's just. He's a dog.

[Seth]

I mean, he's not. Look, he's. They've all their fair share of pass rush reps to these different defensive linemen. So the physical challenges and battles are still. That. That remains to be seen. There's a lot we're not going to know about this offense until we see him out there, actually. Game planning versus defenses in the regular season. But it's just. It's a cleaner operation, even as you have a rookie center who's never played center other than a few snaps at the Senior Bowl.

[Sean]

Yep. Here was d' Amigo Ryan's yesterday when he was asked what rookies are making a name for themselves.

[D'Amico Ryan]

A few guys have stood out, but I can't tell the world all my secrets, but a few guys have stood out when it comes to our rookies, the young guys, undrafted rookies that are really making a name for themselves here on the practice field. And those are guys that I'm most excited to see in the game because they've done it. They've been consistent. These guys do a great job with taking care of themselves off the field. So they've been going every single day, working hard. I'm proud of the work that all of our rookies have put in.

[Seth]

So Colin, right, is the first guy that came to mind. I think that, yeah, I don't think d', Amico, if he was trying to be coy there at all. He's already done the damage by kind of gushing about Colin. Right. Matt Burke had high praise for Colin. Right. So the rookie cornerback out of Stanford and also out of Missouri City, he's really shown up Manville, I think. Okay. Yeah.

[Sean]

Oh, he went to Manville High. Yeah.

[Seth]

Yeah. Okay. Okay. So Manville. Yeah, so he.

[Sean]

I knew, I just know that Manville

[Seth]

people are going to start. Yeah, I looked at it on his bio. It said Missouri City, so. So he went to Manville.

[D'Amico Ryan]

Yeah.

[Seth]

So yeah, he's, he's really shined and they've, they haven't hesitated to have him out there playing with the ones. And I think he's, I don't think they're going to try to, I don't think he's at the point where they're going to try to hide him from everybody else so they can maybe keep him on the practice squad. I think he's got a really good shot of making the active roster and maybe being an integral part of the actual, the actual game day roster.

[Sean]

I agree. He's, he's, you can make an argument. He's been their third best cornerback in camp this year.

[Seth]

Yeah.

[Sean]

So far. Here was Derek Stingley. Actually you mentioned d' Amico really likes him. Matt Burke really likes him. Here's one of his teammates, Derek Stingley on Colin, right.

[Seth]

Colin the dog.

[D'Amico Ryan]

At some point during, he either gonna get a pick or he's almost gonna get a pick.

[Seth]

And he do it every day. He did it during the spring.

[D'Amico Ryan]

He doing it now. Like he just keep on going.

[Seth]

So CJ threw a back shoulder up to Jared Wayne in practice yesterday and Colin Wright just came up, climbed the ladder, got the ball, then ran for the pick six if you want to call it that. But the coolest thing about that was Stingley. Stingley stepped out onto the field and just had his hands on his head. Almost like a Gen Z reaction type of thing. Like he was going, oh, you know Stingley and how demonic.

[Sean]

I was about to say very unstingly.

[Seth]

It was a, it was the Stingly version of a Gen Z reaction.

[Sean]

Right.

[Seth]

But he just, it was almost like impressed and shocked and awesome. I wonder if Stingley's taking him under his wing a little bit, you know? Yeah, he was like, hey, that's my guy. That's my boy.

[Sean]

That's right.

[Seth]

That's my boy.

Yeah, that's his bit. Well, you know, like in college, if you're in, like a fraternity or whatever sorority, you got your big bro and your big sis.

[Seth]

Oh, yeah, yeah. Maybe that's his little brother.

[Sean]

Stingley is his big bro on the team.

Yeah, yeah. You won't get paddled tonight, Colin.

[Sean]

Right, right, right. And Jalen Smith is. Kamari Lassiter is his big bro. And Lassiter is over on the sidelines looking at Jalen Smith going, what the hell, man? You're embarrassing me. Stingley's little bros out here making plays.

[Seth]

Yeah.

Colin Wright's really showing up. So that. That's going to be fun because, hey, take all preseason. Take all preseason results with a grain of salt. Except that, man, he just continually, every day does something impressive.

[Sean]

He's number 37. So if you. The game, I would say the two undrafted free agents with the best chance to make the team right now. And we'll go through the drafted rookies here one by one in just a second. I would say Colin. Right. For all the reasons we just outlined. I would say Noah Whittington just because he's getting an opportunity now. George Jordan's nursing some sort of injury, and Whittington's been getting a lot more run with more prominent guys on the team.

[Seth]

I think that when we had Nick on, I, you know, we only had like a minute or less than a minute to go. And. And I asked him for who. Who. Which undrafted rookie free agent should I adopt? And then I did a really bad thing. I was like, I forced Noah Whittington

[Sean]

on him and he said nice things about him.

[Seth]

He said nice things about him, but I almost felt like he probably wishes I hadn't said Noah Whittington because Whittington might be one of those guys that they're trying to keep quiet.

[Sean]

Maybe. But when you asked him last year about it, he gave you two names, no problem, right? Casey Osai. And I want to say Jake Woodard.

[Seth]

Casey Jackson. Oh, it's Jake Woodard.

[Sean]

Yeah. Yeah.

[Seth]

Neither of whom made the team.

[Sean]

No, I'm saying.

[Seth]

What I'm saying is, yeah, maybe they want to hide Noah Whittington squad. So he didn't even want to mention, but I don't know. You're not going to be able to Hide him. Like they got to play some running backs in these preseason games. I think Whittington is going to get some chances.

[Sean]

I think he will too. I think he's going to get some. I think he's going to get a lot of touches on.

[Seth]

Whittington is a classic guy that you just kind of wonder. All right, they platooned him at Oregon so he wasn't as impressive in his final year as he had been previously. And you look at his measurables and supposedly he doesn't have great breakaway speed and everything. But then you turn on his college highlights and they're playing against actual football teams and he's, he's running 60 yards downfield away from everybody. And I know it's college, but yeah, I think there's, I think there's something with him above and beyond the measurables. But he's also old by rookie running back standards which might have kept him from getting drafted because people are like, all right, well look, by the time, by the, by the time he's done with his rookie contract, he's an aged old man.

[Sean]

He's going to have 200,000 miles on the odometer.

[Seth]

Yeah.

[Sean]

All right, so let's, let's rapid fire these. Seth, the rookie class because we had a lot of people listening that are very curious about this and I've been able to see training camp. They only hear us talking about it. We've, we've kind of, we've mentioned Keelum, Rutledge already in this segment, but where are you like on your.

[Seth]

I feel I was kind of waiting on him until we saw the pads come on. And ever since the pads came on, I felt better and better about him. So he's, I think they hit a home run. You know, he's still got work and improvement to do and everything. But I think this is going to end up being a really good pick.

[Sean]

I do too. They may have center lockdown for the next several years. That's big Kaden McDonald.

[Seth]

Kaden McDonald's a work in project, a work in progress and. But I like everything. I like all of his tools and I like his work ethic. He's just, he's got a ways to go if he wants to be as he stated is his goals defensive rookie of the year and first team all pro in his rookie year.

[Sean]

First team all pro is going to be.

[Seth]

The first step would be to be a starter on your own football team. And he's nowhere near being a starter on his own football team right now.

[Sean]

No he's not, but I do like

[Seth]

him for what they wanted for him. He's a big strong guy that can play, that can hopefully stuff the run. I think he shows all signs that he can be that guy. But just like I would pump the brakes on the Rookie of the year talk as of now. We'll see.

[Sean]

Yeah, yeah, we'll see.

[Seth]

He's got a. He's really got to work on his hands. He's got to work on his pad level. He's got a lot to work on.

[Sean]

That's what D' Amico said. Here was D' Amico Ryan's on Caden McDonald.

[D'Amico Ryan]

Kaden's been progressing really well as a rookie. There was a lot. Huge learning curve for him, but he's doing a good job being attentive to what we're asking him to do. And you see, I see the steps of him towards getting better with this, mainly just keeping his pad level low. That's where we've been straining him the most, is just low man wins in football. He has to continue to work that very strong, very strong kid. So he just has to play to his strengths and he'll continue to get better.

[Sean]

If he doesn't get there to where they want him to be, it's not going to be because of a lack of coaching like d', Amico, Ryan's and Rod Wright. I trust those two guys well.

[Seth]

And you know what's been cool to see is that Naquan Jones, the guy they picked up midway through the season last year, who's got a similar build, body type, athletic profile as Kaden McDonald, has really been working with Kaden McDonald, kind of taking him under his wing. And I think that Naquan does a lot of the things and gets the most out of his physical ability that D' Amico just mentioned. So, like, like McDonald is working on what they're coaching him. And it's not. This isn't like a huge shock to me or anything. It's just. It's not like he's ahead of the curve or like, you know, rising up above and beyond what I thought he was. I think he's probably right where they

[Sean]

probably expected, you know, exactly what he's going through right now. You were a rookie interior defensive line.

[Seth]

Yeah. And I. But I think. I honestly, I think I was lucky enough, even though I came from a small school, I had an awesome, awesome, awesome defensive line coach, Pete DiStefano, for the whole four years I was at Cornell. So I came into the league with better technique than A lot of these guys and that. So I didn't. I didn't necessarily go through what Cade McDonald's going through right now. He's just. He's gotta. He's gotta refine some of his technique.

[Sean]

Yep. Marlon Klein, their other second round pick, I think it's looked pretty good so far in training camp. That looks like a good pick so far.

[Seth]

Oh, yeah, yeah. Now, he's another guy that I was kind of holding, I was waiting on and just waiting to see. But again, once the pads came on and now that he's just getting more and more reps, he's open a lot and he's open and he's got opportunities versus this, this really good defense that we're talking about.

[Sean]

Yep.

[Seth]

Not sure if people listening understand. Texans defense is pretty damn good.

[Sean]

Yeah, you're right.

[Seth]

But he's one of these guys that could be open even when he's not open, because he's got a lot of length, he's tall, he's got long arms, he's made some nice catches in traffic. And I think, like, without boy, immediately people start saying, like, is he more like Kelsey or more like Gronk? All right, I'd say he's more like Gronk in terms of athletically, but let's not. Let's not go there just yet, okay? Let's just.

[Sean]

He's Marlon Klein, okay. Yeah, he's a man. He's nice yards after catch, too. Like, he's like getting the ball in his hands in the open field. He's fun to watch.

[Seth]

He had that German contingency that was out there watching him last year.

[Sean]

Oh, yeah.

[Seth]

It was his old.

[Sean]

Treat him like Elvis.

[Seth]

It was his. The first coach he ever had in football. So, like his youth football coach or his high school football coach, whatever it was, and a few other guys. And I ran into him outside the practice field before practice one day and I was. I was talking to him and I was like, well, yeah, I heard your accents. And I figured that you heard from Marlon Klein. And the one guy was like, what accent? And he got me for a second. I was like, oh, no. Oh, no. You don't think. You know how things are in this country right now. I'm about to get canceled.

[Sean]

Maybe you're being ethically insensitive. Yeah.

[Seth]

Oh, the irony. Oh, no, I'm going to get fired for being insensitive to a German.

[Sean]

To a German. To a white guy.

[Seth]

It doesn't get any worse than that to a white guy.

Here's d' Amico Ryan's on Marlon Klein.

Marlin's progressed every single day. His trajectory is definitely pointing up. Seeing him in the past game saying, you know, you guys have seen him make a lot of plays out here. In the passing game, he's, he's still learning a lot. We're throwing a lot at him. But for a rookie to be, you know, where he is at this point in camp, I'm very encouraged, I'm very pleased with where he is and I'm excited to see him to continue to, to progress. He's done a great job, so I'm excited at the line of scrimmage, he's done a good job. And also in the passing game, you see a guy, so I mentioned before, he's a, he could be a big threat in the passing game. So it's exciting. Young player to watch for this year.

[Sean]

Two mentions of the passing game, I'll tell you, that's bad news for Brevin Jordan. Yeah, Brevin Jordan was going to make this team if he were to make this team. And Brevit, for those who don't know, Brevin's missed the last handful of practices with a knee injury. And the, you know, I think on paper it looked like Brevin Jordan's going to be fighting Kate Stover for that fourth tight end spot. But I also think there's an element to. They just want a set of skills in that room.

[Seth]

Yeah.

[Sean]

And, and Brevin might not have made the team anyways. He may still make it. Who knows? There's still time. But if the past. D' Amico's obviously enamored with Marlon Klein's ability to catch the football and do things with it in his hands.

He said that after the draft, he, he made it a point to say, hey, he's got a lot of upside in the passing game and it's shown

in camp so far. That might be for Brevin Jordan because his calling card to make this team was going to be his ability to make plays in the past. They've got that element in the room with Schultz and Klein then.

[Seth]

That's a really good point because, look, he's not the same athletically, he's a different type of guy. But when Brevin Jordan's on the field, nobody's worried about him as a blocker.

[Sean]

Right.

[Seth]

So that, yes, he can do a lot of these things as a Swiss army knife knife type of guy, but he doesn't put a defense in a bind a way that Marlon Klein theoretically would. Yeah, I know. You know, it's a really good point. Marlon Klein was going to make the team no matter what. Unless he was a complete bum because he's a second rounder. But we were thinking about Cade Stover versus Brevin Jordan when really it might be Marlon Klein, even though he's not in direct competition with Brevin Jordan, it's like Brevin Jordan's kind of in competition with him.

[Sean]

Yeah, yeah, yeah. That the, the, the skill set is in competition. Yeah. Of the other guys. So the rest of the guys are. Day three guys, I would say, you know, from Fabeti, we woo Wade Wood as Kamari, Kamar Ramsey, Louis Bond, Aiden Fisher. The two that have jumped out to me have been Wade Wood as in Louis Bond so far.

[Seth]

Yeah. Wade Wood as in Louis Bond. And they, they play positions where it makes sense that, you know, when they make a play, it jumps out. We was an interesting one because I just, I, you know, I gotta go out in one of these next practices and focus in just on him because he's had good plays, he's had bad plays. I think the biggest thing as a rookie, you know, obviously I think the, the big thing is that a. He looks like his scouting report, which is, man, he is strong, he's solid. He plays with good control and technique, but he's also looks pretty smart for a rookie when it comes to picking up games and understanding what's going on. It seems like he's taking the coaching really well. So I think they like him. I don't know, like how much of a factor and how quickly, I don't know. But that I. For a fourth round pick especially, I think they're probably, they're probably happy with what they're seeing out of him.

[Sean]

Do you think he makes a team?

[Seth]

Yeah, yeah.

[Sean]

As a fourth round pick? Yeah, yeah.

[Seth]

I don't think they would want to. I don't think they would want to leave him out there. I think he'd get picked up by somebody.

[Sean]

What about Wade Wood as Wade Wood?

[Seth]

Yeah, he definitely makes a team. And he's competing for that third linebacker position.

[Sean]

Yeah, yeah, yeah.

[Seth]

I think they like is. A lot of people have said that he's got a little Brian Cushing to him. I think he's got a, he's a little psycho.

And his. There's a hype video that Clemson put out last year where one of his coaches said he's your, he's your classic meathead. And we like those cushions. That's Cushing.

[Sean]

That's Definitely Cushing.

[Seth]

Yeah, but he's a more. He's a different. It's a different era. And I'd say he's like a rangier version. He's not as. Not as physically imposing as Cushing, but he's Ranger and more of like an open field athlete.

[Sean]

Well, if someone. Yeah, and if someone told you he was a safety who converted a linebacker, I go, yeah, that checks out with his body type and everything. Kamari. Ramsey.

[Seth]

Ramsey. We just. Okay, so this is the category of players where I want to be careful with because sometimes guys are quietly having a good camp, but because they're not jumping out and making a bunch of plays, it's. They're not obvious. You know, they're. Well, you don't necessarily see exactly the good things they're doing, but he's also not showing up a boatload and doing bad things.

[Sean]

You've pointed out a former teammate who will go unnamed that made plays in camp, but it's because he was going into business for himself, right?

[Seth]

Yeah, he wasn't.

[Sean]

He wasn't following the assignment.

[D'Amico Ryan]

Yeah.

[Seth]

You know, and it was like linebackers. So I've seen Wood as do some good things. Oh, who was the one during the. The, like the 2020 circa. Kamaru J. Hill. People get so excited about Kamigrew JE Hill because he'd make these tackles for a loss and everything. And I get so angry because what you don't see, remember I would send you clips all the time. Hey, look, Sean, 10 guys on the defense are running to the left. Kamu Grouget Hill is locked in demand coverage with a run over on the right after the ball's already been thrown to the left. He doesn't know where the hell he is or what he's doing.

[Sean]

Yep.

[Seth]

Yeah, it drove me insane.

[Sean]

I missed those because he was an awful.

[Seth]

He was not a good linebacker. And yet a few times a game he would show up and make an impressive play.

[Sean]

I last two Louis Bond and Aiden Fisher.

[Seth]

Louis Bond. Louis Bond. My one rule always and forever is be careful with slot receivers during training camp. That even the guys who have a lot of upside and everything might not be ready for NFL action just because slot receivers going versus vanilla defenses and backups in the preseason really tend to shine above and beyond where they. Where their. Their actual skill set is right now. I guess the difference with Louis Bond is that he's done it out there versus the ones at times. And I think that he already. He already knows and understands a lot of the concepts in this offense because he played for Bill o' Brien at Boston College, so I think he definitely makes the team. And then it's just a question of. All right, is he active on game day? Is he actually a part of the, you know, the guys that they're thinking about really use him?

[Sean]

Yeah. People aren't going to want to hear this because it's Bill o', Brien, but he comes across as a player who was very well coached in college. You know, just technically, I think people

[Seth]

have pretty much settled into like, okay, you know what? Bill o' Brien was a good football coach. He was just a horrible gm.

[Sean]

I think you give humanity too much credit.

[Seth]

I see that a lot from Texans fans.

[Sean]

I know.

[Seth]

I feel like it's kind of the one that people like. They feel like they're being smart if they say it. You know what? He was actually. He was a solid enough head coach. He was just an absolutely atrocious gm.

[Sean]

Yeah. You need to hang out with some more maladjusted people like I do on a day to day basis. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Those people are still angry at Bill o'.

[Seth]

Brien. I'm with all those super rational people on Twitter. Yes.

[Sean]

Yeah. So we'll see. I mean, it's tough. It's a lot tougher to come back from a broke. It's a lot tougher to come back from torn triceps tendon than a broken hand. But people do do it. But it's. He might be out for the year.

Here was Field Yates of ESPN yesterday saying, this is, this is the second most important player on Washington's football team. How big of a problem is this for the Commanders?

[Seth]

You can't make a player the highest paid left tackle ever and then a few months later realize you're going to be without him for potentially the entire

[Sean]

season and not feel a major blow.

[Seth]

Michelle, this is perhaps the most indispensable

[Sean]

player on the roster not named Jaden Daniels himself. And it's going to be Brandon Coleman who gets the first crack to step up into this role.

[Seth]

Replacing Laramie Tunsil.

[Sean]

That's a, for any team like that is a kick in the junk. You give a guy 30, make him the highest paid guy at his position. Gone.

[Seth]

Yeah.

[Sean]

Before the first preseason game. So that's, that's the latest with Laramie Tunsil.

[Seth]

It was almost, I would say still worse than that. It was losing Joe Mixon at the beginning of the season last year. I would just say, yeah, I think, well, before the beginning. Yeah. Whenever, when did we lose Joe Mixon? Ultimately before the season.

[Sean]

You know, when they lost Joe Mixon, probably right around the time they signed Nick Chubb.

[Seth]

Yeah.

[Sean]

Is about the time where they're like, okay, well, I, we don't know what.

[Seth]

I don't know. I feel like they probably, I, I feel like if, if they knew for sure that it was going to be as bad as it was, that they would have been more aggressive than maybe taking Nick Chubb.

[Sean]

Maybe. It's just, it's, it's tough to be aggressive in late June. You know, there's not much out there.

[Seth]

Yeah.

[Sean]

Nick Chubb.

[Seth]

I mean, you can trade, but that's true.

[Sean]

Deshaun Watson, check in on him. I would say the most. The. The quarterback battle with the most eyes on it is probably the one in Cleveland just because of the two people involved. I'm not saying they're like Kyler Murray and jj. Kyler Murray is a better player than all these guys. And you know, KYLER'S battling with J.J. mcCarthy. We've got a couple other training camps where guys are battling for jobs. Most teams have their starting quarterback. The Browns do not. The Browns are not even close. And the. It seems like the practice yesterday. So I guess Shador ran with the ones yesterday. Deshaun is going to run with the ones today. They're each going to start a preseason game and then Todd Monken is going to make a decision after that.

[Seth]

Yeah.

[Sean]

Keep in mind, Todd Monken is a coach who stated openly that he was hoping to have a decision back in the spring as to who the QB one was going to be.

[Seth]

And it's one of those. It feels like one of those classic things where nobody has decided to step forward and win this competition.

[Sean]

Exactly what it is.

[Seth]

This competition will be lost, not won.

[Sean]

Correct. Good way to put it. Ashley Bastock, who I guess covers the Browns, had this tweet yesterday and we'll hear from Monken in a second. End of Brown's practice, one minute, end of half situation should do up first. And the drive ends with two false starts. Watson next. And after two completions, a sack, an illegal formation and a false start, Monkin ended practice and looks like he threw something

[Seth]

I like.

[Sean]

So Monkin after practice yesterday was talking about both guys and. And talking about them. When I saw that tweet, I immediately went and searched on Twitter Monkin, Watson, Sanders, because it'll feed you the audience. Whatever would happen in the press conference will get pushed to the top of the timeline. He was pretty complimentary, but he'd obviously cooled off after he threw whatever he threw. He was pretty complimentary of both and talked more about the positives than the negatives and went talked a little more extensively about desean at one point. So there's a follow up question from a media member who it seemed like was trying to get him to say that Watson is better than Shador.

[Seth]

Right. Asking if he had said is. Did you say Watson is better than Shador or just that Watson is better

[Sean]

And Monkey, it looked like Monkey felt like he was getting pushed into a gotcha moment a little bit. So here's here's what it sounded like.

[Seth]

I'm in China stood you. But Mary Kay asked if they're even Steven, and then you mentioned that deshaun's got. Is better.

Hold on.

[Sean]

What was that?

[Seth]

So that's what I'm asking.

I said desean's better. Were you.

Were you saying that he's gotten better since camp or that he is better than Shador?

Oh, I don't think I threw in there that he's better than Shador. I'm not sure I went that far, but I appreciate you trying to trap me in that.

All right, all right. And settle down. The guy was asking for a clarification. Like, I swear, I don't. I saw a lot of people saying, like, yeah, dunks on this clown in the media. I was like, all right, I know that guy sounded befuddled and confused. I love talking.

[Sean]

I love the dunks on Fill in the blank.

[Seth]

Right, right. Like, he just. He was. The guy was genuinely asking, like, I just want to be sure that I heard it right. And Monken said, well, I didn't say that. What do you say? Sounds like he thinks desean is better than Shador is what I took from that dude.

[Sean]

Anytime I see something like that with a new coach on a bad team.

Yeah, yeah.

I'm like, what's this guy gonna be like when they're 2 and 10?

It sounds like it sounded like he was. He was afraid that he had actually said. What he really feels is that desean is better than Shadour, but he was pretty sure he didn't say it.

But Sean is better than Shador.

Oh, God. My favorite tweet I sent this to you last week is from Ted Win, who's not like some troll on Twitter or anything. He's a hardcore film guy. Yeah, he. He, quote, tweeted Shador Sanders, Sanders pass, which is a classic. Every Shador highlight is like a wobbly ball that a receiver makes a superhuman effort to get. And Ted Win says every Brown social media post, quote, Our QBs can't throw, but the rest of the team is really good showing all these wobbly throws that somebody makes a really impressive snag out of the air or has to make a 5050 catch.

What a depressing quarterback battle that is. All right, last one. Checking in on old friends. We checked in on Laramie Tunsil. We checked in on Desean Watson, DeAndre Hopkins. I don't know if you saw this, Seth.

He is. He's Winthorpe. That's great. Todd Winthorpe. So Steve Keim, the former GM of the Arizona Cardinals, is. I'm reading the headline, has ties to alleged scam artists who was found dead in a swimming pool.

[Seth]

Yeah, that's the headline.

That's the headline. Yeah. So Steve Keim.

[Seth]

And then you might think like, well, that sounds like a reach. What's going on here? Just wait.

[Sean]

No, no, no. So I'll give the general because. Because I want to get to Hopkins, but Steve Keim has ties to a man named Mohammed Koulibaly and a. An investigation.

[D'Amico Ryan]

They.

[Sean]

The. The Barons did an investigation back in July that alleged that Koulibaly led a scam that attempted to persuade professional athletes to invest in fake Shopify stores. So this guy's trying to scam millionaires out of money? Steve Keim was part of his inner circle. This guy. He was actually working with him on this company. He had a. He had a title with this company. Steve Keim did. Well, Koulibaly was found dead in his pool earlier this month, and authorities are investigating.

[Seth]

That happen.

[Sean]

Yes. So the company was called Motion Ventures, and so that's how Steve Keim was in headlines yesterday. DeAndre Hopkins, of course, was on the Arizona Cardinals when Steve. Steve Keim was a GM that traded with Bill O' Brien to get DeAndre Hopkins. Apparently, in a now deleted social media post, DeAndre Hopkins said this about Steve Keim. It's been deleted. I got set up when I played for his team and lost $13 million. Scheme slime was my GM. He calls him Scheme Slime. Contaminated drug test. Go figure. How'd that happen?

[Seth]

Yeah.

[Sean]

So, DeAndre, for those who don't recall, in 2022, DeAndre Hopkins was suspended six games for failing a PED test. Yeah, he failed a PED test. So he is now claiming in a deleted social media post that Scheme Slime, AKA Steve Keim, tried to figure out

[Seth]

a way to get out of some. I don't know, man. I don't know. Steve Keim. Steve Keim always struck you as kind of a sketchy dude. Like, you go back to Art knocks on Arizona with the Arizona Cardinals. Like, this dude is not like other GMs.

[Sean]

No. It's so embarrassing that he got over on Archie.

[Seth]

Well, okay. So I have this, though. So Steve Kahn was involved with that guy who was the doing scam Shopify or whatever. Yeah, I'm. I'm curious about this. We might have to get a hold of DeAndre. Remember Hopkins had that incredible catch in the end zone a few years back when he was with the Cardinals?

[Sean]

Yeah, yeah. Like in a. Like, in a, like, yeah, like, body.

[Seth]

My nephew is a huge DeAndre Hopkins fan, and DeAndre was. Started selling a T shirt with, like, him, like a silhouette of that shot.

[D'Amico Ryan]

Yeah.

[Seth]

So I ordered it, and my nephew did eventually get that T shirt, but it was like six weeks later. I wonder if I can blame Steve Keim for this. And his band of cohorts somehow stepped in and. No, I don't know. It was like whatever janky Shopify operation was going on then it was. It was tied to the dead guy in the pool.

[Sean]

Maybe so. Could be.

[Seth]

Could be he was found dead in the pool. But also wearing that really poor quality. Just like. Like it was all askew. It felt like a factory second. Did it really forever to show up? Okay, so there's like a heavy cotton. It was more like a. More like a hair shirt than it was a cotton blend.

[Sean]

Dude, if it's not that thin, thin breathing T shirt material these days. I don't wear it. I don't wear it. So There you go. DeAndre Hopkins. I know what it's like to be a victim of a deleted social media post from DeAndre Hopkins.

[Seth]

Yeah.

[Sean]

Remember that? A couple of years ago?

That's right. Yeah.

I made a snarky remark about DeAndre practicing at Titans training camp. And he made some joke about, why don't you just buy your wife my jersey so that when you say my name, you know, I'm basically laying right there with you. Yeah, he deleted it. And then he apologized to me on direct messages, and we've kept in touch. I congratulated him on the new Georgia Tech assistant job he got the other day.

[Seth]

You know what was unfair about all of that was that people were acting. The people were framing that because they're stupid. Like, he was taking a shot at your wife.

[Sean]

No.

[Seth]

When. No, he's saying that you're fantasizing about her. But the headlines were like, DeAndre Hopkins takes a. Takes a shot at this shock jock.

[Sean]

DeAndre Hopkins. DUNKS ON radio hosts.

Not at. Not. Not one tiny bit. Was he doing that?

But Chris Berman, who for years has been kind of part of that ceremony, I don't know if he was this time, but he would emcee that thing several years. Chris Berman would. And he's very tied to the NFL, obviously, as part of his brand. Chris Berman, longtime broadcaster on espn. The video making the rounds is Chris Berman. Look, it looks like he's at a golf course. He's wearing a golf shirt. He's wearing sort of golf pants.

Yeah.

[Sean]

And the issue with the Internet is that Chris Berman has his pants buckle like the, like the, the waist for his pants is literally almost below his butt cheek.

[Seth]

Yeah.

[Sean]

It's kind of at the level where like you see some young kids wearing it out and about where their, their entire underwear would be showing.

[Seth]

Yeah.

[Sean]

But his shirt is tucked in.

[Seth]

Well, it seems almost impossible that somehow his pants are staying up. Like there might be Velcro in there or something. I was kind of shocked that people were shocked by this because this is how Berman's body has always been.

[Sean]

But that's a low plat. Like that.

[Seth]

Here's a picture from 2010. So, you know, 16 years ago. He's a no ass dude. Yeah. My language. He's a no butt dude. That's.

[Sean]

Didn't that seem even low for a no ass dude?

[Seth]

Not necessarily. I thought, I felt like it was a natural progression. Of what? You could have seen this coming 30 years ago.

[Sean]

The Internet's overreacting to this.

[Seth]

Yeah. I really like, you can walk into any, you can walk into any country club or suburban neighborhood or anything and find any elderly man who's a little bit maybe rotund, who's got a similar body type.

[Sean]

You and I need to go to a country club.

[Seth]

Yeah.

[Sean]

And during a, like a day where people are out there golfing and you find me somebody whose waistline with his pants is lower than Berman's in that video.

[Seth]

Okay. That's saying that he might be an extreme.

[Sean]

I think he's an extreme, extreme example.

Like, I don't want to be mean or anything. He's always just, he's always had kind of an odd physique that way. He's a big guy.

That's what it allows you to get up from a fall when you turn

elderly, especially if you get on the GLP1s because it takes some of that muscle mass away and you never know which muscle the GLP1 is going to choose to eat away at.

Everybody at home right now stand up and do 10 body weight squat.

[Sean]

Yes.

[Seth]

That's all you got to do. Right. And then you won't have to be buying velcro for the inside of your squat.

And on the 10th one, stay down for 20 seconds.

Yeah. You've got a bigger, bigger sample size of old men that you've looked at their butts. So you've had a chance. There's a better chance you've seen it. Yeah, I just thought that was, that was why.

Well, I don't know why. You know what? Back in it forever and ever and ever. Men, you know, you watch all these movies from the 50s and they would have their, their waist like they have their waist up around their belly button.

[Sean]

Well, that's what I see.

They would have these high waisted pants.

He's the first old man that I've ever seen whose waistline has descended right. With his pants.

Yeah, well, like I think that's right. Maybe that's why they do it though is like there comes a point where the belt doesn't work in its normal. You just hike it up so it's above your love.

[Sean]

Okay. So you, you think back in the

day, remember like the like fit people would have these suits where they're really high waisted pants.

[Sean]

Yeah.

[Seth]

And it fell by the wayside. They tried to make a comeback with it a couple years ago and. And men were like, what? No, I don't need to look like fatty arm.

[Sean]

Am I going to have to make a decision on this at some point as to whether my waistline goes above my belly button or below my butt cheeks?

[Seth]

Not if you take care of yourself, you lazy SAP.

[Sean]

I have more butt than Chris Berman does though.

[Seth]

Yeah.

An ironing board has more butt than Chris permanent.

It felt like his, his, his belt was doing a lot of work there, man.

A lot of work. I'm shocked the pants didn't fall down at some point.

Almost like it's probably like your. Your belt has to find a shelf somewhere.

Because you can't have it constricted like a tourniquet.

And I almost feel like in him the work that the his. His front parts or the part there are the shelf there that's holding things in place.

Yeah. Go out of your way to find it. Go check it out, you know. Sexy as hell, man. Yeah. So is this Texans opponent going to be better than we think? Early in the season, at least on one side of the ball, this was John Goodberry who was on Ari Marov's season preview. He's John Goodberry covers the Bengals. And I know one of the concerns playing the Bengals, Seth, is that the interior of the Texans offensive line has not been great the last couple years. They have undeniably one of the best interior defensive linemen on the team.

On their team now. Along with other upgrades that they've made. Apparently Dexter Lawrence is killing it at Bengals camp right now.

He's been the best player in camp. He's been absolutely destroying them. Ted Karras is. He is going through it right now like every time he talks because this is a captain, this guy who speaks for the team. Right. They talk to him a lot after camp after these practices and he is drenched. He looks like he's having an all nighter. Like he hasn't slept in days. He is going against Dexter Lawrence a ton in this 3, 4 defense and he's getting beat a ton. Credit to Caris because he's been a solid pass protecting center. He's getting a little bit older. But Lawrence is just making it so hard on everybody up front. I. He really looks like he was. He's back to 20, 22, 20, 23, like dominant player. And if he is, if that's what it is, if that's the centerpiece of your team. He's opening up so much more for everyone around him. And they've done a lot on the defensive line. They don't even have B.J. hill back yet, but T.J. slayton and Jonathan Allen are in there and. And the front is just absolutely wrecking.

I forgot Jonathan Allen's on their team too, right?

No, that's.

[Seth]

Boy. Aim off. They like. They. They added three really good defensive linemen to one of the worst defense in the league last year. That's that. That's how they revamped their defense and that's going to be a big challenge in week two. The. Yeah, I've been thinking about this the all off season long when as soon as we started thinking about Rutledge as a center or if Jake Andrews remained the center. If this is an improved offensive line, you've got a. You don't have. The physical matchups aren't as big a deal against the Bills. The Bills have a new defensive coordinator. They've got Ed Oliver. But Ed Oliver is going to be playing a little bit differently than he has in the past, so there might be an adjustment period for him. But it's the Bengals defensive line who has guys that the Texans have struggled with before and have wrecked shop on the interior offensive line. They're going to see those guys and if they're any better, that's the place you're gonna have to prove it is in Week two versus the Bengals.

[Sean]

Yep. I thought the most significant thing that Goodberry said right there is he's the best. He's been the best player in Bengals camp.

[Seth]

Yeah.

[Sean]

I mean that's a team that has a lot of good players over on the offensive side of the football. That's a team with Jamar Chase and T. Higgins and Joe Burrow over on that side of the football. So that. That was. That was significant, I thought.

[Seth]

Yeah. And I don't. I think that it shouldn't be a surprise because Dexter Lawrence had a couple years ago he had that classic, okay, he's an offensive line or defense nose tackle who ended up with double digit sacks. That all of a sudden that's going to be the standard or something for what he is. And it's just that's. No, it's not. It's that he, he soaks up a lot of space. He destroys people. He gets really good push as a pass rusher and he wasn't as good last year coming off of a triceps injury as he had been two years before. But he Was still one of those classic, man. You got to account for him. And you can't single block him with a center. So he opens up things for everybody else.

And he's probably got a chip on his shoulder now.

Just gonna say he's got the chip on the shoulder factor working too.

He kind of single handedly. It felt like that was the move that got Joe Burrow to be back to all in on the organization. Yeah. Because this is. The Bengals wouldn't have made a move like that in previous generations.

[Sean]

Let Trey Hendrickson walk.

[Seth]

Yeah. When I say generations, I'm not saying it errantly like no generations. They wouldn't have said it.

[Sean]

Yeah.

[Seth]

Or they wouldn't have done this.

Yep.

And it's like it felt like for Burrow, you know, he was publicly saying yeah, like this is this kind of stuff we want to. You want to see and they're all in and all that. Whereas during the season he was being all emo and acting.

[Sean]

Oh yeah.

[Seth]

He was thinking about his future, et cetera.

[Sean]

Yeah, yeah.

[Seth]

And he does emo very well. Joe Burrow. He's got the face is very emo.

[Seth]

Hey, by the way, a little bit of mascara or something.

He may. He may.

It wouldn't shock me as a former.

Is a text message. As a former caddy at River Oaks Country Club, I can attest the Berman look is very popular among the old money whites. That's the text.

Someone said this. Honestly, I've never seen Berman walk around. They made. They brought up that point too. Like most people who've seen Chris Berman, he's probably been sitting behind a desk.

I've seen him in person before and this doesn't. It maybe seems like a slightly more exaggerated version of what I've already seen.
