The 4th Estate is a name given to the "press/news media/journalist" that primarily covers the Government & Political Officials. Journalists that investigate and report on Government & Political Officials preform an important role in our society! They help "link" the citizens & the government together and they help keep the government "in check"... or at least, that is what they should be doing! Kris believes, however, that we are witnessing the "Death of the 4th Estate!"
