The Phoenix Suns’ season is officially over, as they bowed out of the first round of the NBA Playoffs with a loss to the defending champion Oklahoma City Thunder. And while Phoenix did not manage to earn a win in the series, the Suns’ season was much more than coming up short in the playoffs.

Phoenix was not expected to come anywhere near the postseason but instead outdid preseason projections to win 45 games — nine more than it turned in during the previous season. More than just exceeding expectations, the Suns displayed character traits that can define the franchise beyond just this season, a positive sign for things to come.
